That's the exact word I wanted to hear at least from someone. Sigh again!

Well, then that sums it up I guess, but still need to cautious I guess. Sometimes I get so elementary that I want to get to know everything from the basic all over again. Manufacturing defect for me I guess

    Cheers!

Lol..same manufacturing defect for me too.!!

So i guess it settles it. Getting the rocker arm fractured is the real worry

As i mentioned earlier when the bike is run for just 5kms the sound changes
i can hear lots of sound during the idling the sound is exactly like SEWING MACHINE sound as compared to earlier the bike is revving better i dont think its a psychological feeling i can feel it while riding they had changed the both rocker arms under warranty.

As I mentioned earlier the irrespective of Fi/Carb they will need tappet adjustments once in a while.

Well I wonder what will PBK say when they see a 220Fi do 140+ and a Carb 150 on the roller bench that most PBK's had
somewhat clear, nice diag by the way

yea on the machine , I took it upto 148 (b4 they removed it) and was told that this is not ideal running conditions, it can go up to a max speed of 130 - 140 on the road...

        • Guys,
Im almost convinced that my clutch plates is on its dead bed. My riding style is usually a relaxed one with very less sudden acceleration, so don't know for how long its been like that, but today did a 80 kms dash , and the response was very much unsatisfactory, the rpm spike also seemed a bit dull , and the acceleration was below par. Absolutely sure its not the tuning , as the tuning is untouched for a long long time and i had a very crisp throttle response before.

So , on a general side, i want to know the average life of the clutch plate, take into consideration the riding style has seem all the extremes, but mostly have been treated nicely.

          Bike is nudging 48k kms

So please help me out here.

          Cheers

I don't know if there is an average life for clutch plate, I got mine replaced at 49K KMs, I replaced it even though pbk mechanic told me it is not that bad. It's the rider who feels the difference has to make the decision.I benefited in acceleration and mileage after changing the clutch plate.

Guys, Let me know how does a wornout throttle cable behaves. I have this issue in my bike from last evening, When i give the throttle gradually the response is fine but when I twist for quick acceleration the engine roars and settles down, also the RPM needle raises and drops back when I am still holding the throttle in same position. For eg. At 6K RPM I give a twist the RPM raises till 8K RPM and drops back to 7K RPM and stays there.. I suspect this to be wornout accelerator cable. Please correct if I am wrong.

I don't know what's the problem. But it surely is not a accelerator cable issue. To be doubly sure, check whether its getting frayed at the point where in is fixed onto the engine part. It usually gets frayed from there first.

Its not an issue with throttle cables for sure.
There could be many reasons for the issue that you have mentioned. I suggest you to do following checks.
                1. Check Air filter, get it cleaned.
                2. Check for bend or twist of petrol pipe; Many times improper petrol flow to engine is the reason for such issue.
                3. If everything seems to be fine then mostly its Clutch plates that are out of scope. Take your ride to authorized service center for check up.

Clutch plates does not have specific life span. It is all depending upon the riding conditions. Clutch plates worn out early, if you frequently ride the bike with half opened/closed Clutch, downshifting of gears on high RPM's, or frequent red line gear shifting.

1.I did service last saturday and air filter got cleaned then.
2.Need to check tat with pbk. Bike got stalled cos of no petrol last sunday and I filled in some odd petrol bunk, so not sure about the purity of fuel.
3.Replaced Clutch plates 4K KMs ago, could it get worn out so early. My last clutch plate worked till 49K KMs for my style of riding .

Advice is a form of nostalgia.

                          • Guys I bought my Pulsar 220 DTS-FI in Jan 2008 and fell madly in love with this bike. I had some problems with the bike in the beginning but they were solved during the first servicing. But in last whole year I have gone through hell. I've missed many movies as I could not reach the Mall, I reached office late on many occassion, I missed many rides as my bike was not well, I almost ended up in an accident because of my bike suddenly stopped in running condition on highway.
Initially my bike showed symptoms like stopping while in the running mode. I was told that there was a problem in the relay. I got it replaced. Bike ran well for couple of months and the same problem started showing up again. I was told there's something wrong with the wiring, I got the whole wiring changed. Then after couple of months the same problem started. This time the problem was in the fuel filter. I was given my old filter which was clogged with black mud. I could not understand where this much mud came from in the fuel. I stopped filling up petrol from the petrol pump, from where I usually used to fill up. In last week my bike suddenly stopped reeving up, and engine stopped functioning. This time I was told the fuel injector is faulty. I replaced it for 1700 Rs. But I'm facing the same problem again. While running suddenly the throttle response goes down as if the fuel is not reaching the engine. I totally stressed with all these recent problems in my bike. I'm even afraid of taking my bike for a ride out of the city. I really don't understand what to do. I've always been getting bike maintenance done from authorized service center. I need some advice from you guys. Please help.

Mine usually lasts 20K! You sure they din't replace the clutchplates and not tell you about it?

Folks what are the front tyre options these days?

I am tired of the Pirelli Sports Demon that I have been using for ~10K kms, last 6K odd kms its just been giving barely any grip. I am thinking of putting the R15 2.0's front tyre.

I too had this doubt, so checked my invoices and also ran a seach on clutchplate replacement on the service history available in pbk computer. It has not been changed all the time.
But the second one lasted only 4K KMS. So is the quality of the Bajaj spares.
