But the second one lasted only 4K KMS. So is the quality of the Bajaj spares.
Did you say 4k??? How long did the first set last?

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Folks what are the front tyre options these days?

I am tired of the Pirelli Sports Demon that I have been using for ~10K kms, last 6K odd kms its just been giving barely any grip. I am thinking of putting the R15 2.0's front tyre.
      My first set lasted 48k

        Mine lasted around 44k :P

By the way - my bike might just be up for sale (still too emotionally attached to let it go though)
Any ideas what can one get for a sep-07 220Fi with most parts new

4k is next to impossible for the clutch plates burn out. I suspect installation error at PBK.

@krish: you have a dtsi or Fi?

Nope the manufacturer and the design is different on the dtsi. Its a lot better, the plates should typically last longer on the dtsi.

I was once tempted to get the dtsi system for the clutch..but it cost vs. Benefit gained was too little.so I saved myself from spending 3K

Exactly, I remember asked the PBK for the same thing, not for replacing but asked if the clutch were of the same, some said yes and some said no, so it is different. FCC RICO I guess for the DTSI and for FI, it too should be same right or.. who manufactures for FI, Praful?

                Cheers!

The plates are not a plug and play fit between the two bikes. Need to replace quite a few other components as well.

Clutch plates and engine oil.. what else?
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I had enough debate with Mr.Kalathiappan(GM - chennai pbk) on this. He says any defect is identified within 500 KMs and anything beyond is not due to defective parts but may be due to circumstances like bad oil, clutch bell, riding style/traffic condition etc.. I wonder everything remained same for the past 49K KMs and still how this happened? May due to improper installation that they never gonna accept

this is probably the best bike ad I have seen. it was directed by tarsem, the hollywood director with films like the cell to his credit.

                          • My FI is about to complete 5 years... 55k+ kms till now...

Thinking of changing tyres (3rd set), as of now running on Zapper FX (Front) and SIRAC... Want to try different rubber now... Hows Pirelli ? How much it'll cost?? Heard Michelin stopped production of SIRAC, is it true ??

Is thinking about changing whole wiring of bike, is it needed since its around 5 yr old??

If I think of it as Midlife overhaul, what all things I need to take care of right now please list them if possible... Thinking of keeping it for a year more since there are no "exiting" bikes in the 250cc segment right now except Baby Ninja which isn't value proposition for me...

(PS: Valve lapping is done 5k kms before, Clutch Plates have ~10% life left)

                            • ^^ My personal experience with the Pirelli Sport Demons have been less than satisfactory. They gave amazing grip for the first 2-3K kms after that all of sudden they stopped gripping!! And yes Sirac production is now stopped!

If you are having constant electrical issues then you can consider replacing the wiring harness, else its OK!

Same boat dude.. Bike is now 4.5 years old and 88K! My hopes are on the bigger duke for now.

                              • ^^ I am on the same boat too 53K KMs done in 4.3 yrs.. Front tyre needs a change, most of the surface rubber is already gone on the michellin, looking for Zapper Q or IRC wildfare in 90/90 profile.
