  • Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi

    Hello all,

if anyone is looking for a superb mechanic in Hyderabad, I would like to suggest one.

His name is Bala and I have been getting my bike serviced at his place since 7 years now. I take off on long rides at a moment's notice and I never carry spare parts with me ( I know that's a tad wrong but that's the confidence that I have on his skills) and never once did I face any problem.

He is based in Gandhinagar area.

    Phone number: +919704219234 +919553707051.

Hi Guys today all of a sudden i notocied that the Engine malfunction light is on came home started to check on XBHP and found a page

About Glowing "Engine Malfunction Light" and "Loose Connection": Click here..

Went trough the page and realized really nothing that could be done on our end so today i rode all the way to my office 12KMS and still its on
when i power off the battery with the red switch it goes off and comes on and later when i start the engine it remain off for about 100mtrs and later comes on and stays all the time.

as per the comments i read on the above mentioned thread seems needs to Visit doctor(Mech) today ill take it to Authorized bajaj service center and get it diagnosed.

If there is any suggestion from you guys would really appreciate it when i go for check up things that i should look for ?

          • What to change now?

            Changed relay and controllee .
Now there is cold starting problem and there is no response after pressing button ( behaves like hitting the button after third attempt of crank).
Takes place only in cold temperature or after a brief stop .
After few attempts and putting the bike in NEUTRAL and removing the key & re slotting it starts
Sometime it kills itself after cranking

            GETTING MAD DAY BY DAY
Imagine myself getting stranded at 2am(Xmas carols) while a pulsar150 starts and zooms and after spending also it irritates
On the plus side bike starts in single crank on regular time

You need to go to a Bajaj Probiking center which has the diagnostic tool for the 220 Fi. They need to connect the tool to see which sensor has gone kaput.

Does the engine start and then die out or does it not crank at all ?

First attempt it will crank and die and from next time no response after pressing button ,switching on &off many times.
And I slot it in neutral bike starts again
Will check tonight and say again.

P.S while changing it so much spark came and mechanic told me to change the fuse box as it was loose with Kawasaki KB100 box.since he was the one who insisted for carb I ignored him and told to tape it properly

                  Hey guys,

I have a feeling that my bike's AFR is messed up.There it quite a difference in the sound, its now quite deep and throaty than before when revved.Could it be because it's running too rich? Related to this,I would like to get my CO setting checked, however I'm new to Hyderabad I'd like to know which svc center here has the CO machine?I'm asking coz in Pune there was just one place which had one.

                  Thanks in advance

today visited BASS and got my FI checked and informed about malfunction light on told the service guy to check ,

He replied sir get the bike converted from FI to Carb.

he told that Fi has issues with its Engine where no local Mech will touch and this is the only service center you will have to come to get it fixed

                      now my question is

Does anybody know where to get Fuel Injection(Fi) converted to Carburetor for Pulsar 220 ?

If anybody knows please let me know where and whats is the cost.
he is quoted me 6K for this please suggest me what needs to be done should i get it converted.

The throaty roar doesn't mean it's rich or lean. I've seen lean and rich bikes have the same throat. A good roar always means more air, which means the mixture is lean. Is your bike an FI or Carby?

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Well actually there are three places that can service the Fi. Khivraj operates two SVC centers in Kasturba Road and another in Indiranagar, the other one is called AutoService in Banashankari.

It may or may not be harmful to keep riding the bike in the current state, depending on what part is actually busted.

Can't really say about the "Grrr" noise unless there is more information about its source/intensity/timing/etc.

The service center themselves can do the conversion to Carb. 6K is about the cost it would take.

He's right that no local mech can tune the Fi, but other engine work is like any other bike, no rocket science in that. My Fi has done 1L+ kms, and I service my bike with a local mech.

Most bikes leak with 300V, some don't. There is no straightforward answer to this. Mine din't leak 300V when I first started using it on the bike.
