My karizma too makes that rattling sound..i gave my bike for servicing today and as my bike is still under warranty the hh service centre is gonna replace the silencer free of cost :-)

Thats awesome Dude!! I will go to the service center this Saturday. Let's see what they say.. Where are u from? Do I need to fight/argue with them or will they agree to replace the silencer?

I'm using Yamalube 20W40 on the Zma. Although warming up is a little more sluggish, I find this oil to be one of the best mineral oils on the market for any bike.

@kirosh: Zma's exhaust is 3 separate components, IIRC. Not sure about the ZMR.

Zma exhaust comes as a whole from bend pipe to end can.

I stand corrected. If your info is correct. I remember someone posting pics about taking apart a Zma exhaust a long time back. Will see if I can find it.

Well, IMHO it is actually 3 parts.
1) The black exhaust pipe is one unit.
2) Over it, its a golden covering with the steel plate on top of it.
3) The end can with 5 screws, of which 3 fit to the black exhaust pipe.

I know all this as my friend for it changes under warranty. Cost some 5840 something

Karizma prob solved

Okie, here is something that i wanted to share with all you guys. I bought a black ZMA R in July, which has done some 8k kms till now. Started facing issues around 2500kms with a tak tak sound coming from somewhere near the timing chain area.
I knew writing to HH wudnt help, still decieded to go that. Here is what i wrote:-

I own a Hero Honda Karizma-R (black color) with engine no. MC38EA9GD01276 and chassis no MBLMC38EB9GD01492 purchased from Khanna Automobiles, Safdarjung Enclave on 10/05/2009.
I have been facing issues with the engine making noise while idling i.e. after a few kms of driving, the engine starts making an abrupt noise while idling. I have repeatedly visited J K Automobiles service centre (East of Kailash) to get the same rectified but to no avail. They kept the bike 3-4 times stating that they will have to open the engine and fix the same. However, due to reasons unknown they have not been able to fix the same.
This puts a big question on the reliability of the ever-so-reliable Karizma (Hero Honda’s premium segment motorcycle) as well as the quality of workmanship at the service centre of JK Automobiles.
I demand immediate look into this matter and get the same rectified, failing which I may have to take this matter up with higher authorities or in the consumer court if need be required.
I am sure I will not be disappointed from India’s biggest 2 wheel manufacturer.
PS- I would also like to let you know that the complaint’s link on the Hero Honda Website does not work. The page refreshes on selecting “State” losing all the values entered in the form.

The very next day in the morning, got a call from the SVC.They asked me to bring in the bike immediately, but i told them that i could come after office only. Visited the SVC around 6, and man-o- man, i just loved the look on their face. After a lot of debate, decieded to leave the bike with them on 21st for complete day. In the eve, got a call that they had changed cam tensioner,timing chain and few parts, but all under warranty. Reached and collectd the bike.
The advisor asked me to sign a satisfaction note on the job card. I refused. I said i shall be signing it only when i test it for 50-60kms. The advisor insisted that he had to fax the job card to HH. I still refused until i am satisfied.
The bike is back to its actual zma characterstic now, even after a lot of ripping. Silent, revv hungry and vibrationless(ofcourse except a slight fairing vibe)
Will be going back happily to sign the satisfaction note on the job card.
Today, this i what i wrote:-

Ya bro u`ll have to argue..the service centre usually come out with excuses..like there`s a pebble in ur silencer which is making the noise(jesus christ)..typical hh..what i did was i went to the mechanic who services my bike in the hh service centre..he told me that the silencer is faulty and u argue with the head service personnel as they`ll give some excuse or the other..i told the head personnel that u can keep the bike as long as the problem doesnt get solved and that i`ll complain to the hh company that u guys are never ready to replace any part under warranty..then he agreed..should be getting my bike today evening..will keep you updated

or simply shoot a email to HH. They will ensure that work is done properly. Read my earlier post for more details.

i too had a similar experience with Pune HH ASC at wakdewadi.The main fuse would go off while riding.The supervisors just replaced the fuse and sent me on my way,twice !! Then the third time it happened i went directly to the manager who sits in the showroom.He followed it up and got the problem solved.

Electrical Problems

I fitted osram headlamps and roots spider eco dual horns for my ZMA, as of now my electrical are not functioning properly, horns get low when headlamps are on but are up when headlamps are switched off,self start doesn't work at times also.
There is a relay fxed for the horns, at times only one of the horns functions and the other one doesn't and sometimes both,
I feel my batteries are going weak any suggestions as to what is wrong.
I want to get my electrical s checked up, can any body suggest me a mechanic or a workshop where i can get it checked up

i too have cold start issues wid my 6 month old karizma ....and svc are not taking it seriously.......pls advice me wat should i do???

cold start issues? Could you pls elaborate?

FYI, in the morning my zma also does not start without choke. I just pull the choke,start it(self or kick, depends on mood) let it idle for 30 sec, and ride off!

If u have a similiar scenario, dont think it is a issue
