  • ^^Thanks for the info.

When I removed the oil drain cap i could find only a wire mesh kinda thingy. Guess its the oil filter. But I could not find anything else. I thought only dat should be there. What is the use of the washer and the spring? Should I get them and put them also? This is a second hand bike which i got like 3 months back.

For the chain info thanks. Will do that as well this weekend. No need to clean the chain first with some old toothbrush before applying grease?

Part marked ' 6 ' is the oil filter, ' 7 ' retainer spring, ' 17 ' the oil drain cap 'O' ring and finally ' 4 ' the oil drain cap. The assembly is in the sequence.

If your chain is dirty with lots of goo then yes clean with tooth brush and either Kerosene or diesel before applying grease...if the contaminant is low, just go ahead and apply grease. But cleaning is best done by removing the chain , keeping it soaked in a tray with kerosene or diesel and then cleaning it.
replies in bold....please download the manual and make use of it

Yeah I have seen many use it and it had made our understanding of the ZMA internals a lot better....no need to thank as we are here to share and enhance our knowledge.

                • Was seeing the similarities between the new XTREME and the ZMA.
The new alloy wheel looks nice but don't know how will they look on the ZMA . These look similar to the ones seen on the spy pics of the YAMAHA R??

Am not sure about the tail lamp from the XTREME fitting on the ZMA, but will be a possibility though.

Even me sitting at home can do so much. Hope the HERO MOTORS new R&D guys can make the ZMA in a new avatar ,than just a sticker job.

Just removed the spark plug to see how it was doing after I changed the Air Filter, some o-rings and a couple of oil seals. Must have done just 100kms or less after the changes were made.
                    Heres how it looks:

Its light brown on one side and a little blackish on the other. Not sure if this is how its suppose to be, different color tones.

I can't see the pic...but your description tells me that you may be slightly on the richer side....A light tan is ok, and bike should be able to do 110 easily..My plug is light tan color. I get 33 in city and 43 on highway( I do 80 in city also)..The speed and control are addictive.
Continue with the present setting and do some sane below 4.5 K rpm ride and see what is the FE.

I have changed the image links. You can see them now.

I am not really looking for 40kmpl mileage but trying to find a reason as to why my bike is not really performing as it was doing in March 2011. It suffers to go beyond 100kmph.

Harish your plug pic shows you are running rich...the plug is worn out so change it..the plug has oil in it's thread, do you have oil consumption problem..how much oil in how many Kms...do you change oil regularly every 2 k Kms, with 20W40 oil ?
This is what my plug looks like:it is my old plug modified to side gapped

I change change oil every 2k kms. I am not very sure about which oil the mechanic puts in though.
I dont even remember when I checked the oil level last time to know if I had oil consumption problem.

What spark plug do you suggest?

I recently moved to NGK Iridium. A bit expensive(INR 550) but you can feel the difference. Better throttle response, easy starting in the mornings. I also read in some forum that the fuel will be used more efficiently which am not sure about.

Any ideas about this psr sir?
