  • ^ I'm not entirely sure if the wattage alone makes a difference and hence i would be skeptical in claiming that the 46 buck 55/60s are nearly as good as the Nightbreakers.

IMO, the 300 odd bucks that the Nightbreaker demands is a sound investment.

Found that out when i had to ride the last 50 odd kilometres to Thirumala after sun-down on a ride last month

    Cheers !

OF used to be the go-to Zeema guru earlier and with him taking up more elaborate duties, this thread was left without an 'expert'. PSR has filled those very large (metaphorically speaking, OF sir ) and how !
I cannot be compared with OF sir......he is a King among Giants..I am an Ant among Millipedes .
@ashwinprakas: I'm running a Osram Nightbreaker in my Zma for about a year now without any problems whatsoever. The extra wattage helps make night-time sojourns a lot safer
There are many posts now querying on heat of 50/60 halogens ...I guess it will continue till next generation.....for people like Aneesh and Sriram to answer...

      Cheers !

They will not be good as Osram or Philips Extreme Power,But can give you 40-50% more brighter light compared to stock bulbs just for 75 odd bucks.

        !
Yeah,BTW which one is more better Osram or Philips Extreme?

Philips Extreme is superior to Osram Night breaker....

Interesting Read: Osram Nightbreaker vs Phillips Xtreme Power and Light Output - Honda-Tech

Osram Nightbreaker H4 wattage rating different..why?

Well, Ananth is using a Philips Crystal Vision (Not sure if the extreme is better or worse in the hierarchy), and I sided with the Nightbreakers. Being the wanderer that he is, he was of the opinion that the Nightbreakers are better in terms of throw and spread (Lighting up the road ahead at a distance as well as covering more breadth while at it) but the Philips bulbs yield better visibility under foggy conditions.

Sir, your posts are far from ignorant. Its just that I'm excited to have someone with such experience helping us Zma-riding mortals here

And i do agree that a comparison with OF sir is usually unfair. But like you said it yourself, you're the go-to man in this thread now and its showing !

            Cheers !

              So again Philips is better.

The free play when you try to pull in the clutch lever should not be more than 5mm ....if it is get it adjusted so that your clutch will disengage fully when you pull in the lever...this is one of the most neglected adjustment leading to hard gear shifts. The Honda engine in ZMA is the CRF 230 which is still made and sold in huge numbers world over....
Sir, can you plz elaborate some more on clutch adjustment as i have to get it adjusted after every few 100 kms since i changed the clutch wire, the ASS people say as its a new cable it will require frequent adjustment initially

i read from the manual that clutch can be adjusted from clutch nut, but have never been able to get a perfect setting

also how to measure the 5mm freeplay as i bad at guesswork
i am growing old, but not up!

I did see a vacuum after OF sir became pre-occupied...since I also bought a pre-owned ZMA I am more or less gaining some knowledge to share and be of some help to Newbies here....

Always LOCK the nuts tight to avoid loosening ,and increase in free play....if you see the pic above both nuts are tight on the retaining flange..

                    • whoooo....
                      that was quick

does this mean clutch should fully engage at ~5mm distance??
and how to confirm that it has indeed fully engaged, coz i pull the clutch fully before shifting gears.

i hold the smaller nut with spanner and then adjust the bigger one, is it ok?

When comparing to your pic... mine has more than 5mm play.. cause the next day after getting the bike me nd aneesh went to svc and tuned it so that it falls into gear on gently releasing the clutch....
                        Is that a problem???

When I said free play it means when you pull the clutch lever with a finger there will be little resistance for the 5 mm, then afterwards the clutch mechanism will engage ...known by the extra effort required to pull the lever..If this play is more clutch will not disengage fully when you pull the lever fully.
Your tightening method is ok...why do you have to adjust the cluth every 100 Kms ?...I had done 1,000 Kms with out clutch or drive chain adjustment. If the clutch cable is spurious..ie., not good and a Fake , only then cable will be stretched every 100 Kms.
