      IS The grinding noise there only on 4th and 5th ? try noticing it in 3rd also...if it is there then i think it is the chain lubed with oil problem..try applying bearing grease to chain,and see.. If it is from gear box then the thrust washers, and spline washers have to be checked ..Make a written complaint to A.S.S , and get it sorted out..( You have to open the engine)
      It is a New engine which should not give such problem...regarding performance comparison , the engine is yet to settle down...he can expect good pickup and speed only after 1,000 Kms...since he had already done 400+ Kms he can start riding the bike to 70 or 80 Kmph without issues..BUT HE SHOULD WARM UP THE ENGINE FIRST, riding it at 50 kmph for a kilo meter.
      You have to exercise the engine by taking it up progressively to highr RPM and speeds, otherwise the engine will loose it's ability to perform later on.

        Yes,I found it only on 4th and5th gears,like something is bend inside and grinding like thing, don't know how to tell it. You mean the chain is over lubed or something?

          Take bike>1st Gear>Rip to 4000>2nd Gear>Rip to 4000>3rd Gear>Rip to 4000>4th Gear>Rip to 4000>5th Gear>Stay within 4000.

          Worst things i've done.
          1.Ripped bike to 70kmph for a few sec's.
          2.Ripped bike to 80kmph for a few sec's.
          3.Ripped bike to 100kmph for a few min's.
          4.Went triples for about 15kms @ 60kmph within 4000RPM.

            Then you have to make a written complaint about it to A.S.S. and get the problem sorted in the warranty period itself...I suspect either the thrust/spline washers are worn or out of place...these are necessary to keep the respective idle and engaged gears in proper spacing ..

              • @Aneesh: I went to both the Authorised svc's but the buggers did not sell the bulbs to me.

                @psr: Man, you are a god-send! I changed the relay and voila, the bike is good as new!!

                What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!

                  Here is my front sprocket @ 15.5k.
                  Chain cleaning done previously @ 12k.



                  Guess its time to change it.. As aswin said low end torque is a bit low when compared to his new ZMA-R. also noticed excessive sound and small shaking of the front sprocket,is it normal? Is this shaking normal or is it due to wear of the sprocket?

                  Got 36 previously before adjusting AFR screw,now its 29.6km/l in city(approx) also ripped to 100km/h for 2 to 3 times,may be due to it also sometimes ripped and shifted gear @ 7k rpm.

                  • Aneesh: You front sprocket teeth are warping... guess your chain set needs to be changed... Get the ROLON branded chains, costs less than the OEM and lasts longer.
                    My OEM chain wore out within 20K kms. Rolons are still going strong after 23K
                    What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!

                      • I meant ROLON branded chain and sprocket kit.

                        Go to their website(L.G.Balakrishnan & Bros Ltd.) and look for the regional offices nearby. Call them up to get the distributors address. We were able to get the whole kit for 625/- when the OEM spare was for 900 rupees.
                        What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!

                          Thanks bro,Is there any particular model for karizma? How can we find out whether it suits karizma or not? also one of my friend is going to replace his chain and sprocket for his hunk,so need to know it.

                            Rolon chain and sprocket, I'm using it for my ride, Its very good. You can check at Manju, They might have thi with them.. I'm not sure if they have ZMA specific models.

                              whenever i start my bike in morning daily it wont start, I need to pull the choke everyday before starting it. My bikes done 350kms and first service done.
                              am i running lean or rich..?, as i am new to these dont have much knowledge and do i need to set my carb to solve these problem?

                              • Need Suggestions for my ZMA

                                Hey Guys
                                This is my first post in this thread after 6 years of ownership of a ZMA.
                                I am having 2005 model ZMA and it is going really good.
                                But, wanted to have some changes so that gets much better.

                                1. it is around 39k on the odo, used only HH specified oil that the dealer provided. Want to change to semi-synth or fully-synth so that engine gets more refined and smooth.
                                Can the oil that is provided by HONDA for CBR used in ZMA i.e. 10W-30 fully-synth?

                                2. After 6yrs, the headlight beam has got really weak, so wanted to change to more powerful bulb that does require any changes to the electrical but has better throw than the stock one.

                                3. Can the ZMR clip-ons used in ZMA ? If yes, what would be the cost incurred and mods that would be required?

                                4. My front alloy got little bent when crossed a pot-hole, can the alloy be aligned & balanced again ? I yes,can some one point me to these bike alloy balancing shops in Delhi or if no, what alternate can be done for this?

                                5. The only major problem I am facing that is the neutral light is not working, at SVC they are saying that it would take 2K to work this out as engine needs to be opened as the very thin Neutral plate is broken which does not cost more but to open engine it requires a lot of work.

                                6. Now, the front fairing has started to give 'Khud-khud' noise when it goes from a small pot-hole, checked it but didn't find any broken joints or loose bolts. What could be the reason ?

                                Do give your input guys, your suggestions would be really helpful.
