    • getting stuffs ready for tomorrows ride! for some personal reasons taking a ride till bangalore and will be back on the same day! door to door distance is around 378kms+378kms=756kms+20kms==776kms totally!jus changed the engine oil to motul 20w40,chains adjusted, headlight beam adjjusted, filled petrol of about 1000rs (will fill up rest on the way!).took the accelerator cables and clutch cable which was bought during last ride, a spanner set, a plier, 35w stock headlight bulb (feared about the 6amp battery with twin horn and philips 55w/60 bulb)..just trying to grab some sleep since have to wake up at 3 in the morning and start riding!
!!!!guys one doubt, due to the unavailability of 1L motul 20w40, i bought and filled 900ml of it!is that ok??i feel little difference in the sound/grunt of the engine..but no evident heating issues??is that k for this ride or i need to top up in between???anyways will be changing the engine oil as soon as i return!

900 ml is the standard fill when oil is drained through oil drain bolt. Whereas 1.2 l is needed when crank case is opened. In your case since you drained oil through drain bolt( I suppose) only 900ml is needed just make sure that oil level is correct by checking the dip stick. Happy journey ride safe .

One Tip: If riding through highway most of the time during long trips just fill tyre with air 2 psi more from the standard specification .

Oops didn't think about that . Even I was wondering why a swing arm bush replacement for a new bike . The part you mentioned seems not to be costly anyway I don't think its somthing worth fighting to replace under warranty even if we argue they will keep on singing " rubber parts no warranty " .

                      • Hi friends, not getting enough time to read daily posts and replying, I'm sorry about that. But recent updates from my side:

                        1. Running 3000 kms + since last service.. now 20,700+ kms on the odo not getting time for bike servicing due to exams.

                        2. Recent FE was 36 kmpl, with 70% rip and 30% 60-70kph riding.

                        3. Motul 3000 4T Plus is a good oil on a long term basis also. (2000kms)

                        4. BMW 520d is an awesome car, overtook at 125kph like a jet.

You are fine with 900ml. No worries. Remember always gradually accelerate on the highway to reach top speed. Wacking the throttle is not advised.

Vishakh - who gave this tip to you?
If you are on the long ride, it is always advised to go 1 or 2 points less in the tyre pressure. Reason? The road friction generate heat and thus adds up the pressure inside the tube. On your advise if it is 2 points increase that would amount to lot of bumpy ride and even cause it burst. Watchout!

Alternatively you can use Nitrogen gas for your vehicles. It is much lighter and stays cool so you just need to fill the company spec. You don't have to worry on a long ride for regular air checks. The pressure stays longer say even a month. That's why many riders prefer to have Nitrogen gas filled for the track use.
