I took it to service center 2 days before. got the bike yesterday and still the same problem exists. The fuse melts off when I use the starter button. The bike was ok when I took it from service center but today I had to wash the bike as it was dirty and after washing the bike when I pressed the starter soon the problem surfaced. . There is some short circuit inside and I have no idea what to check and where to start. Please help guys. I havent took the bike out since days because of this.
The fuse is supposed to blow in the event of a malfunction to prevent further damage to the system. So dont put in a higher rated fuse .

Would've helped further if you'd mentioned the amp rating of the fuse

It was really hard to find the 15A Fuse in my place
Is ROOTS BLADE FUSE 15A ?
I guess it doesn't have to be HH fuse . As long as it goes in the fuse holder and is of similar rating , any fuse will do .

In case you are not taking it to the SVC , put in a new fuse , start it by kicker and check whether the fuse blows when any other switch is on . If not , it's the starter wiring . If it is so , follow the wiring from the switch through the relay to the starter . Specifically check the contact points whether there's dirt or if the wire's loose .

It is confirmed that it is the starter wiring. It was confirmed by the SVC that day and yesterday when I pressed the starter switch again it blew out. . Anyways now I am gonna give it a try. Fed up of this SVC people.

          hi xbhp !!!
yesterday i did servicing of my 14mnths old 21546km karizma at my "trusted" mech...i told him not to change engine oil as i filled gulf 20w40mineral some time back.when asked about the engine oil best suitable for karizma he said 15w50 ss oil suits her..he is one of the trusted and best mech in our city whom many xbhpians follow n do their mod jobs...i want to ask you what will happen if i shift to 15w50 ss..wat will be the major advatages n disadvantages?????

15W50 is not the best oil for Karizma.15W50 oil will keep the engine cool but will create lag in acceleration and power. Stick to 20W40 Grade.

            • Got a couple of blade fuses and today when I fixed one and started the bike, the bike is normal . Yesterday it happened just after my bike was washed so moisture content is the culprit. So no idea what now . Anyways going to check the starter wiring,

              • Well seems like I messed it up. Now whenever I switch the ignition on the fuse blows. First it was there only when I use the starter button. Now turn the key on and pop sound comes from the fuse box and it melts out. A 20A fuse melted off first then two 15 A fuse has blown off.. All this happend after the bike was washed. Well not much of a wash, just washed it mildly with hose. So if i take the bike in rain it will cause the same problem.

10W40 and 15W50 are good, they are better than the stock 10W30 when it comes to engine protection when hot, they're also better than 20W40 when it comes to acceleration.

But I've heard that the use of any kind of synthetic engine oil will cause the gaskets to give away when ridden at WOT for extended periods.

Since you've not done any mods on the bike the chance of shortage due to wire breaking is limited. So its better to inspect the wire junctions. So I suggest you take apart the bike and double check all the junctions.

When I was using Windtones, the connections were exposed and many times the bike got wet, but not even once did I blow a fuse. When I hit the horn switch the water just evaporates/splashes away.

thanks bro.i was thinking about giving a chance to 15w50 bt as u said its better than 20w40 in acceleration some member say it makes bike sluggish???why??also he said 15w50will make bike run cooler on long run so from where does that problem of hasket arises???

                      • Normally when people see 10W50 and 20W40, they think that 10W50 is the thickest because they accidentally focus on the larger number and tend to ignore the number before W, which is the Winter viscosity. The lesser the winter viscosity the peppier the acceleration. The number after W comes into play when the bike has attained normal working temperatures, hence the higher the value after W the more viscous the oil layer will be and hence more protection.

Another fact is that to make an oil run broad temperatures, more additives are added to the base oil, hence some people recommend against running oil grades that are far apart. Though personally I dont find it significant.

Yeah, and oils with synthetic blend have finer molecular particles, and hence when used in an engine designed to run on mineral, the gaskets tend to give away when the engine is ridden at WOT.

so you mean that they are good for karizma(15w50 ss) unless ridden at wide open throttle ??and i have read somewhere here that using ss or fs generates leaking problem in the engine its a fact or depends upon bike's condition??

SS and FS cause leaking because as I said above, it eats away the gaskets. And the chances of this happening are more on an old bike comparing a new bike.

That doesnt mean that you cant use it in your ZMA, It can be used, but there might....Note the word...MIGHT, be a chance of leakage in the long run.

                            • Can anyone please tell me what the 15A fuse under the seat is related to which all circuits?.

My bikes body is dismantled and when my mom saw it she was like . And said "You wasted our 1 lakh you idiot!".

And also there is a slight leakage of AFR from the steel pipe connecting to the engine. Will regular soldering will plug the leak?. Or should I go for welding?. Its a minor leak not much of a big thing but still I need your suggestions.

Check under the fuse lid. AFAIK there's a diagram showing which is for what.

Make sure you get some assistance while removing and putting back the fairing.

                                Replace it. Why take risk.
