We can get it with a basic stopwatch(in any basic phone).

Ask your pillion/fellow rider to stand with a stop watch and tell him to stop as soon as he observes the brake light, now ride and click your front brake just when you hit 60 or 100 for whatever you're measuring

For minimum error, you'll have to repeat this procedure a few times.

Check the booklet of extended warranty and confirm. I think it is covered under warranty. And you gotta ask them and even argue to get things replaced under warranty. They are reluctant as always and its pretty obvious
Going tomorrow and will ask for the carburetor again, as even after carburetor cleaning at the same SVC just a few days back, I'm again having the slide stuck! pathetic!!!!!!!

Ashwin, come to Kolkata and give me a test ride too!!! :P

4.5 secs. and that sucks cause stock zma does it in 3 .7 secs. Guess its cause afr is set at 5 turns and pilots stock. Bike surges abit so guess will have to try 140 mains. Have to tighten chain as well cause the lower part when lifted can touch the swing arm.

Sprocket and chain came as a kit. Check the Chain guard for rubbing against swing arm or somewhere.

What AFR turn are you running? Try 3.5 turns and gradually increase to find the sweetspot.

Try tuning the AFR so that you don't run lean, change to 3.5 turns and run for atleast 100kms and check the spark plug to see the difference.

Mine never did even in 3.7 seconds of all the time I tried to measure
All the best to your mods again

                      • I curious to know as to why we are doing speed checks here. Also, it doesn't make sense for a touring bike to expect a whole lot.

I'm planning to upjet with 130MJ, this will be purely for touring purpose. Thanks to Aneesh.

Still running on single throttle cable!

Sorry Sir, but just to know the capabilities in straight line acceleration , and to compare with his mod.

What are the advantages in touring with that 130MJ jet?

I differentiated that it is not for street racing. 130MJ means 130 main jet.
Advantages, I thought, you'll have slightly quicker acceleration and will be good for overtaking. Swift exit from loose traffic I see while touring. Will keep you posted in due course of time on the change.

                            • Used Karizma

                              All,
I plan to buy a used Karizma R. Model year 2007 DEC. 32000 KMs. The asking price is Rs 46,000 Bangalore. Original owner (actually, friend selling on behalf of a friend, I wonder why people lie in such matters).

My purpose of buying a Karizma is for pickup, comfort and refinement.

                              I need some advice.

                              a. At this mileage what are the things that should have been changed? These are the things I can think of.
                              Tyres
                              Chain + Sprocket
                              Fork oil
                              Battery

                              b. Does the karizma R come with a crash guard? I do not remember seeing bikes have this.

                              c. How expensive are the parts? I tried reading some pages in the ownership thread, and what I gather is that the prices have come down. But my impression is that the Karizma's prices are high even relative to the quality.

                              d. What should I look for specifically? Does the Karizma have any infamous niggles / problems. The rattling front fairing comes to mind.

                              e. Does the Karizma's headlight have an AC or DC setup?

                              f. Pickup wrt to the FZ16, which I plan to sell (2011 model).

                              g. Comfort with respect to GS150R Suzuki?

                              h. How good is the braking?

                              i. Do most members service their bikes from HH service centres or from local mechanics. Any names / numbers from Bangalore?

I would be thankful if atleast some of you respond, as I am not able to summarise several pages of this ownership thread.

                              Thanks in advance

                                No.

                                c. How expensive are the parts?
                                Quite expensive.

                                d. What should I look for specifically? Does the Karizma have any infamous niggles / problems. The rattling front fairing comes to mind.
Every machine has problems, and then come solutions.

                                e. Does the Karizma's headlight have an AC or DC setup?
DC, the stock headlight is not good if you're much into night riding. You must look for alternatives in that area.

                                f. Pickup wrt to the FZ16, which I plan to sell (2011 model).
                                Significantly greater.

                                g. Comfort with respect to GS150R Suzuki?
                                No idea

                                h. How good is the braking?
Pretty good if you know how to apply.

                                i. Do most members service their bikes from HH service centres or from local mechanics. Any names / numbers from Bangalore?
                                Depends on personal satisfaction

Some quick, to the point replies.
