Hi, Today i got my bike serviced since it was having heavy oil leakage from the timing case.
The timing case was recently opened to replace the battery charging coil which went kaput. From the day the oil leak was there since new packing wasn't used due to unavailability! today i have many doubts looking at the bill. Please explain.
1)4TOIL-10958-Engine Oil Rs.313.27
What engine oil is this. The fellow at the service centre told that it is the engine oil used for ZMR and it has 6000kms interval to change. So is this a semi synthetic oil? If it is, is it good to take this hero oil..I have always used Motul 20w40 with 2000 kms interval change. Is it ok if i go back to mineral oil during the next fill?
2) 102003-BRAZING Rs.56.12
What is this n why this is unknown! But before service the oil was leaking heavily (like splashing) on the internals of the engine cowl stay! Does this means there was a crack or hole in the timing case where they brazed (metal joining) to cover the leak?
3)409003-ROTOR OIL FILTER Rs.84.27
i seriously dont know whatit is. is this the filter when comes inside the drain bolt?

Ride to Murudeshwar
Hi Guys,
Last week I had been to a long ride with my wife on my Zma. It was a nice experience and I loved the way the bike performed. The good things were:
1.) Even with the pillion and luggage, I could easily cruise at speeds over 80 kmph.
2.) Smoothness even during the return journey- engine showed no signs of tiring down!!
3.) Very good rideability on the Ghat Section's curves even with Pillion and Luggage.I have been on solo long rides, but this was the longest one with a pillion.
4.) You can strap on luggage almost everywhere on the bike and you have enough places to dig in the ropes/bungee chords.
5.) The shocks complemented the utterly bad roads in some stretches- no back pain at all, although we needed frequent breaks for streching ourselves
The only bad thing about the ride was two tyre punctures- the tyre is 35k kms old and tube had gone week. Also, the FE returned was around 35-40.
The destination was Murudeshwar, 3 kms away is my hometown. Total kms covered was 1125 kms. No matter how many new bikes come in, zma is one of the coolest overall performer on long rides (touring, if i can call it so).
Cheers and ride safe!!

I faced the same problem of leakage from the timing case. If it is from near the gear pedal, then you may have to replace the internal seal (o-ring if i remember right).
1.) Oil: are you getting the service done from a HH service center? If yes, the oil that they use is the same as the ones we see in Honda service centers.. I think.. not sure.. but better to go for trusted brands like castrol, motul Agip etc.
2.) Not sure why he did the "brazing".
3.) The drain bolt interior houses a filter.. maybe this is the same.
Cheers,

yes. The bike was serviced from Hero ASC. The leak was there in all holes where the timing case bolts fits. the oil leak/splash was max at the bolt which is very near to the engine cowl. The leak was max since i could see oil splashed even on my shoes.terrible indeed..Originally posted by zma10 View Post^^

I first need to know what type of oil is this. Mineral?Semi synthetic? or FS? Confirming this I can shift to some good brands during next fill.
I stil cant understan why they did brazing and what Rotor oil filter is.

Considering the speed and that you covered ghats, FE seems logical.
Happy to see that your wife also agreed to go for such a long trip.

I had been repeatedly posting the link to the Parts manual...only few have had the patience to open/download the details and keep it as reference....Originally posted by vivekarizma View Postyes.
