OE ratio of GB sprocket : Rear sprocket is 13:40..
    Suggested ratio now is 13:42..
You can easily do 40 Kmph in 5th with 13:42.

With the current setup we can do 30kmph in final gear at 1.9k RPM. Now with the 42T rear you'd be able to do 30kmph only at 2k RPM, meaning the difference is really negligible and since the load is reduced you can cruise more relaxed at the same speed with 42T than with stock 40T.

      • The speedometer, clock, and other meters are not working on my bike. It was working till a couple of days back. The battery was low. Tried recharging, but the person told the battery is gone. Its a Tafe 7amps battery. Pretty old. So went for an Amaron 9amps battery last week. Still the meters and clock doesn't work. The lights on the speedo all work fine.

Checked the fuse. It seemed to be fine. Replaced it also, but still no luck. Anything else to check apart from this?

Honda Unicorn 1st version came with 13:42 if I'm not wrong. Then few seniors suggested me to go for ZMA's rear sprocket for better top end since it comes with 40 teeth rear sprocket. The later version of Unicorn came with 43 for slightly initials. (I tried this and went back to stock for better top end). Now why we need to go for 42 in ZMA? Is that in 4th gear will speed gain more?

Stock bike hits 110kmph max in 4th gear under load, and 130kmph in 5th gear under load. By using 42T you can reduce load and would theoretically be able to get a better(Correction) "QUICKER" top end.

            • My gear got sudden broken total KM 20000. I was very sad due this machinc need to open the engine to change one gear and also exepting sound from piston but every thing is fine no sound. Changed the clutch plate with unicorn plate now getting more pickup. Change the engine oil castrol power 15w40.

How to change the theme ?

With 13:42 the acceleration in all gears will be much more than what it is in stock form, but the speeds Vs RPM will change from 15 Kmph for 1,000 RPM in 5th gear ...With the tallest final gear ratio of 0.8 in ZMA, the 13:42 will give much better acceleration in top gear also ,and will help in better overtaking ability, with load.
This was suggested to @ Ashwin since he wanted to have better acceleration ,and this would give the result, without tampering with any engine parts.

Though the Speedo and RPM meters seem analogue, they are actually stepper mtors driven by dedicated circuits...So the entire console of ZMA is digital Electronics. If the Speedo,RPM, time all are not working then the common thing for all is the power circuit in the Circuit board....Unless you or a friend of yours is good in Electronics, trouble shooting the problem will be difficult...

Check the RED arrow marked transistor for defect....

                  • PSR: My fuel indicator is not working fine I asked mechanic to replace a component which is inside the tank which read & tells the reading but the mechanic told that component will malfunction soon & there is no warranty on that.

This is what we have been doing for ages here in India . In the US they would only have everything as an aerosol spray , including frying oil .

The Fuel indicator works by sending a voltage from the tank depending on the level of petrol(about 2 Volts for full tank and 0.5V at reserve). There is a variable resistor attached to the Float to serve this purpose...Because of the amount of debris, and water content in the Petrol, this variable resistor develops loose contact and hence the display malfunctions...
Try using 2T oil of 1ml per liter of petrol for some time...When I had this problem, I tried this method and in about a month's time (about 1,000 Kms and 25~30 liters of petrol and 30ml of 2T oil overall)the Fuel gauge started working properly....

                        • Here is a pic., of the underside of Console...you will see a connector in the underside ( below the RPM meter side) which brings the Power and data to the Console...just shake it a bit and check for loose contact....

Sue me!! Bigger sprocket means better acceleration. I failed to follow that logic. But this means a small sacrifice in top speed?

May be ...May be not...To be specific, it will increase acceleration due to the change in ratio, and reduce top end..In ZMA with a taller 5th gear the engine struggles to go above 8,000 RPM in 5th, but with the 13:42 there is a good chance it will and marginal improvement in top speed is possible than stock ...
I had not done it, so can only speculate.

                              • Can we modify zma like Bmw K1600GTL or like Honda Goldwing. By modifying, here I mean to modify seat and to put luggage boxes only. What do you all say about that. Will it be worth it?
