Yes, the thief was a mechanic indeed, but my friend didn't know him.
The bike was stolen at midnight when it was parked in street. When police raided thief's garage, there were other bikes too, mostly pulsars.
Pulsar is the most stolen bike in Chennai it seems. It is a popular model and the parts can be easily sold in Pudupettai, a place selling stolen/stripped down bike parts.

I got the brake pad replaced to genuine hero zma disc pads

one issue that I'm facing is that, whenever I press the front disc brake the suspension compresses and goes down, however when its decompressed on its way up it makes a TAK sound!!!

1. Cone set bearings.
2. Forks.
3. Stem holding the handle.
4. Front axle bearings.

No. That is the order of probability. 1 to 4. 1 has highest probability.

Bike has completed 8k kms, is so much wear and tear standard ?

should i just go and ask him to replace the cone set, or should i tell him to run a diagnostic

Have you guys ever encountered this issue ?

Wear and tear depends a lot upon the riding style and roads. If you ride on bumpy/potholed roads often, you'd have to change parts sooner. I have changed cone set twice till now.

Looks like a typical case of Conset adjustment gone wrong, Look for that first than replacing any parts. Wheel bearing and all are hyper remote cases. My little over 1.16L Run ZMA Is still running on stock axle bearing and Stem plates. If the fork tubes/legs are worn out, it would be more of a screeching sound than a Thud/Tak. If the fork Spring have lost elasticity, it would be a "thud" sound while bottoming out than on rebound. If the coneset adjustment doesn't work then you can go in for a replacement depending on the severity. 8K is too less for a conset damage, if its not aligned properly at the first place.

P.S: It could also be a Wiring/Switch harness/Horns hitting something on rebound, just a possibility.

I would first suspect coneset and change. You'll need to troubleshoot one after the other so you know the cause if the issue. It costs around 300 bucks.

I wish we get a suitable roller bearings as they lasts longer.

that noise is super irritating on an otherwise silent piece of machinery

I intend to get it checked on the weekend, will look at what the mechanic has to say and then post an update

I need to get the engine casing changed..along with the Gb shaft(or Db shaft

) and bearing on my 2005 Karizma. Does anyone know any good mechanic for the same in Pune? The last time I got engine work done, it resulted in continous engine oil leak. So need good and reliable mechanics. Suggestions plz!

I don't know if this is already known to you guys. Now Bharat Petroleum also supplies oil for Honda/Hero.
I saw this in oil counter at BP bunk today.
