  • @ moderators..
Thanx for deleting some of my posts regarding GPS device..

Though i never started that as an individual thread, it was asked as a

sub question in a post regarding R15 related questions.

Also in my latest post i myself requested people replying to that

question to send me PMs instead of stretching the same topic.. Even

i wanted electronics telecom(EXTC) outa this thread...

    Anyways...
    thanx for the required action...
    Goin great...

thx .. I agree with the front being sluggish when the tyre pressure is low. Plus my suspension is set quite hard so hands do take a beating sometimes.

Any showroom where yamalube sg is available. Most of these guys buy the 20 litre barrel so don't have 1 litre jars.

PLUS: I have an unopened 1 litre jar of Motul 3000T plus 20W40 for sale at 180 bucks. I shifted back to yamalube so PM me if you want it.

Have you used any high octane fuel like Power/XtraPremium? This sparkplug thing happened to me after started running my bike with 8 litres of Power fuel in the tank. The engine used to get very hot,and one fine day the plug gave up even before all the Power fuel got completed.

LOL! Looks like the mods have literally raided the thread! :P

@mods: You guys should've atleast warned me before deleting that post..can't type such a detailed manual again to post it somewhere else, I'd have copied it if only I got a simple warning before deletion Seriously, I saw no moderator intervening before the post got deleted.

I said that Overdrive says that for R15, there is 15-20 kmph advantage over nearest competitor, in crouched position ...

I was conforming if R15 can reach, say 145 true, when Aerodynamics are in favour ...

@ rossiter: What is my mistake? I'm talking R15 only ... Am I wrong if I do ??

Hi! A friend of mine also suggested that I should not be using these smart-petrols. He did not mention the reasons, but he insisted upon it. I used to fill unleaded for a long time. Some time later, my SS guy mentioned that, it's ok to use smart-petrols & I started using those. I always full my tank, when I go to pump & empty it in due course of time. Still, I have never come across this problem.
Is the petrol pump you get the petrol from, OK? I mean, he does not mix anything in petrol, does he?
I recently got my second Servicing done. The SS guy mentioned that coolant was low. He filled it, but then that's all the problem I've had with the bike (& I'm always 15 days ahead of servicing by date).
              And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. And God saw that the light was good;

Well, i know just one thing. High octane fuels heat the engine up. And my guess is these "denso" make sparkplugs are not able to take that.

thats really apalling dude...the problem could have anything..i use speed and unleaded, never mix them though had no problem running on either, in fact after riaz used speed97 and commented on the smoothness, i have tried that out for 5 lts, the change was minimal and did not feel like it was worth the extra cost and moreover, engine is not on a copression ratio required for 97,
my ramblings aside i did not have a any problem with diff petrols, and neither did a couple of other people i know so that may not be the cause, adulteration seems more plausible.

Edit: The servicing centre stand is available at perfect riders for 650 INR .. Anyone bought it ??? Is it worth the amount coz it defi is worth the functionality.

                        .:. Archi
@Archi: Don't you think the tyre pressures also vary with the climatic conditions in various parts of the country? The manual also mentions something of that sort, not sure though. Coz here in Hyderabad we get 30 front&35 rear filled&its giving me around 48 with Extra Premium. Maybe in the North(colder parts) they have a different ideal tyre pressure?
About the stand, I've seen the SS guys using it too, but they always detach it after the service. Is the one available at Perfect Riders a permanent fixture or only for servicing purpose? I have the racing stand accessory&it seems to serve the purpose for lubricating the chain. If the center stand is permanent, I wouldn't mind going in for that too!

I've got the center stand made by a welder... got the dimensions on paper from the SS wala center stand - place their stand on paper & draw the outline...

Abt the fuels... I used to find differences - positive & negative when I change fuel or fuel pump in almost all bikes I have used so far but this R15 behaves like a darling... what ever fuel I fill in, it doesn't seem to change its character!

Now guys... where did you get info about the R15's Spark Plug? Is it Denso or is it NGK??? and what's the model number?

                          The V-ixion has uses CR 8 E (NGK) / U 24 ESR-N (DENSO) with a Gap of 0.7 – 0.8 mm

Also, note something else from the V-ixion, Oil Volume & Battery Capacity specs are the same. Of importance are the Unleaded Petrol and 20w50 Engine oil (in addition to 20W40) recommendation. Speaking about the V-ixion specs here as it is the closest engine to he R15 outside India. Though the specs of R125 mention that they use NGK, couldn't find any model number.

Thanks for the center stand info. It could be useful while parking it for a long time for me too, as I cannot carry my racing stand everywhere! Even at my building once someone happened to mess around with the racing stand&the bike fell down for no fault of mine!
As for the spark plug, It is NGK-as suggested by the Owners Manual.
I spoke to an employee of a fuel station where they sell only Extra Premium at Punjagutta. He highly recommends Extra Premium&says that to know the difference, we need to fill atleast 4-5 times continuously for the effect to show on the engine. He guarantees atleast 10%more mileage, in addition to smoother engine&pickup too.

Forget more mileage... but Xtra Premium is pretty good. if u run till almost empty tank... you'll find a little difference in smoothness with teh second tank full itself.

Time to go through the owner's manual again to check the spark plug info... either I missed it or I forgot!

I got the center stand made for lubing and traveling purpose...

                              • Finally changed the left-side headlamp to a Halonix 55/60W and removed the pilot lamps. Also tuned the horn for as much sound as possible. Came thru horrendous traffic now and the radiator fan was running. Wanted to check battery drain, so switched on hi-beam headlight in broad daylight. With 30 mins of stop-go traffic, I noticed no battery drain whatsoever with rad-fan running and the horn did not go mute at all!!!

                                AM LOVING IT!!!!
