I guess it would be the tool kit making the noise

Na, its not the kit. I ride without it.

Also, its confirmed that my fan isnt working. Was lubing the chain this morning and the red light came on. I switched the engine off but let the battery run. The red light was on for about a minute, and the fan didn't turn on. So, now I have to visit the dumb SS

Any suggestions on how I go about tackling this? Or has someone faced something like this? I live in a place where the roads are abysmally and almost ubiquitously bad, so only take her out to special places at special times, and
am extremely careful in the bad patches, drive slow and steady there.

Tool kit never makes noise unlike in other bikes-its got a strap which secures it tightly. I had a similar problem in my Fiero F2-it could be the panel on top of the tail lamp which is loose&makes a sound everytime you go over a pothole, the panel is touching the tail lamp. Check if this is true, put in a few double sided stickers to reduce the gap between the tail lamp&the panel cover, since there is no other option to reduce the gap as there are no screws there.

Well, not exactly sure.. but LEDs cant handle power ratings higher than 20mA unless they have a specialized heat dispose mechanism(a.k.a heat sink). And, i'm sure d aux lamp space that our bikes have is not sufficient enough to accomodate LED
with a heatsink. Even if what you've said is right, there's no way there can be much of a difference between the intensities of brightness.

            • Guys, let us compile a decent case study about the R15 rear disc problems:

              1) Lever position
              2) Disc heating
              3) Disc pads premature wear out
              4) any thing else....?

We will compile a good message and take it up with every regional office of Yamaha. Now, for the signature kind of purpose (counting votes) we need a mechanism. Should we include the registration number of each bike facing the problem (even if it is everyone here) or should that be something else? We'll take this region by region so as to help them address our problem better.

What do you guys say? Any volunteer for going through ppl's posts and compiling a piece of text???

We can do this with any other major problem too... Do we have any?

              • add SS ppl who have no clue whatsover and tell that the pads touching is normal.

it can be added as 4. brainless SS ppl.

                  Rusting of metal parts!!!

P.S :: Excellent initiative. As a suggestion, we can create a online google spreadsheet. People can put their rear disc problem, Reg. no and service centre they visit.

                  • BTW, I was at the showroom y'day and had a chance to check the disc pads of a new R15 (just got it down from the lorry at the showroom) and compare it with mine. There's not much difference.

My bike did 6400 kms, I brake more than average ppl but don't hold to brakes continuously, my rear brake lever doesn't come in the way of my foot when resting on the foot rest, I don't use the rear disc heavily, my rear disk heats up very much even on a short ride but even after excessive braking the front disc doesn't.

Thanks Apar... I've never used it... would you pls create two spreadsheets and give the links here... one for the rusting parts and the other is for the rear disc probs...

I think we should get photos of rusting and worn out disc pads + odo reading too...

                    • look at the pads from the bottom. there is a groove to determine wear. when the groove is gone so is the pad and so is 1K.

                        Here u go :: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...HOp3X1xlG2AxRA

I created 2 sheets on a single spreadsheet document. I have not checked my bike yet. Will do that and update it! If anyone wants to add more columns etc, feel free to do so.

yup... checked that. My rear pads are less than half worn and front pads are more than half worn. Possibly they might need a replacement at 9K kms (front ones). Before checking this with a new bike I couldn't estimate how much there were worn out!

                          @Apar
Thanks mate... made it into one sheet (felt it makes sense to have a column for a problem)

Guys, now, for the complaints, pls update the sheet. Pls do not give your Reg numbers there, send them to me at [email protected] along with your xBhp ID.

Also, please be careful while using the sheet, the last thing we want is someone erasing the data (by mistake) input by others.

                            • Service issue

Yamaha service- Very big RRRRoom for improvement.

I own a R15 and my bike met with an accident the Petrol Tank got damaged.I asked the showroom owner to put a request for a new tank..he said it will take 1 months time for him to recieve the tank from the HO.

I seriously found it difficult to understand that it takes 2 weeks time for a parcel to travel to delhi from shanghai and how come a tank will take 1 month to travel from Faridabad to My City Patna.

I made i phone call to yamha HO delhi and complained about the issues...Touchwood there was a very quick response from yamaha .I got a call from Ambresh Mukherjee who takes care of Yamaha sales and service in Bihar .

In 10 Days i got The Tank. The tenth Day is today.

Lets see how long does it take to get the entire job done.

the service centre at patna is the worst of all service centres i have seen

no proper lounge for the Cmr

No Proper drinking water arrangement for Cmr

I have visited the service centre 4 times for washing of my Bike..every time i heard the same thing ..No washer(man) available.

at the time of first service there was no chaine cleerening lubricant at the service centre.....

"In a nutshell i would say that the yamaha service at Patna Sucks"

But Yamaha Bikes Rock and definetly Bikes like R15 and Fz will change tha face of future biking in india

No hardfeelings.....I wish that yamaha improves there service through all the 330 locations in the entire nation...

Preety soon u ll find pics of this lovely yamaha service centre also.... plz wait till the time
