          • hello guys... need some advice..

my p200 is almost 2 yrs old... did 17k kms..2 minor accidents (changed front fairing once and front mud guard once)..using motul 300v since 5k kms.. regularly oil my chain and fill up the brake fluid and change engine oil.. recently when i went in for my 2nd paid service, the pbk guy told me to get the relay switch changed for free before the 2 yrs is up.. i would like to knw whether i shud get it done in the first place or not because i havent faced any issues with my bike so far... and if so, wats the use??
secondly, my brake fluid is full to the brim and still i can press my disc lever almost all the way into the accelerator handlebar.. previously, when this happened, i found that the brake fluid had gone to the bare minimum and when i refilled it, the brakes worked fine.. i can now almost feel as if its very difficult to lock up the front brakes (although i would hate to do so !!)..can u suggest potential checkpoints for this issue? and my bike has done 17k kms and both my tires are still as good as brand new.. should i be bothered abt changing the tires anytime soon though?? also, i rip my bike daily on the highway till 105-110 for a 30 km stretch... and another 30 kms on city roads.. my mileage is at present only 35 or so.. i dont think the fuel mixture is rich as such since i can feel the slight loss in power since i requested the pbk guys to increase the mileage and they adjusted the AF screw.. wat else cud be the problem??

Check your front disc pads. If they are worn out then you need to replace them.

About the relay I don't know, but still, a new part can't really hurt can it? Specially if its free...

I also have a 2007 Pulsar 200 and also arround 17k on the odo.

                1) The relay change is highly recomended, becuase one it's free, second it has done it's duty prfectly for the past two years, but changing it arround this time of the year, when the winters are just "Warming" up, would a lot of good, because it would help a lot in negotiating away from any kind of starting issues. I've personally done that, and the bikes bangs to life in a single go. But yeah, you need to hold the throttle up at 2k rpm for a couple of minutes for the engine to get warm enough to sustain itself in the cold.

                2) For the front disk thing.... definitely check the brake pads and the fluid level/pressure.... because it's the single most thing you should focus on. I've had my days with malfunctioning front brakes and I really dont want to remember those days ... So bro... get the disc and the front brakes checked ASAP!!

                3) The tires are definitely good and don't need any change. But on a personal front, I feel that the rubber on the 200s are a bit and don't provide all the required tracktion you need specially on wet and gravel roads. You ride the P220 DTSi with same tire dimesion (but different rubber) and ride your P200 at the same speed and rpm levels on wet or gravel surface and you would know what I mean. 10 section wider light weight tire or the same 120 section but soft compound would have done a hell lot of good to the confidence. I came to know the difference when I wacked FZ-S of one of my friends. Really I mean it and it's the first thing I'm hunting these days.... tire mod!!

                4) For the AF tuning... does your bike starts feeling stressed out at arround 90 kmph on 5th. Or when you start your first ride of the day... does it give you jolts.... if yes then you are not at the right mixture. Tuning this bike for mileage... I don't see would be a very good idea, becasue of all the Pulsars arround 200 was solely build for fun (and I really mean it.... P200 falls in the league of RX100 and RD350 which are fun till date.... PERIOD!!), so, if you wanna have fun... let the bike be on it's own.. and she's make you enjoy!!

                5) You can also go for Nulon Engine Additive.... it does a hell lot of good to the engine.

For the Nitrogen filled tires.... do you feel any difference in performance and tracktion??

Well Dude I'm really seriously thinking about going for Petal Disk for the front. If you get across any outlet then do let me know!! I looked arround Karol Bagh here in Delhi but returned utterly dissapointed.

                  • Ride quality does seem to be better, but the main reason I fill Nitrogen is so that I don't have to check and fill the tyres every week. Nitrogen lets me use the bike for 3 to 4 months before a refill is required.

Regarding disc brakes, I live in Bangalore, so I have no idea where to buy in Gurgaon or Delhi.

Bro, if you find Pulsar 200 specific Petal disk in Bangalore, then do let me know... I've some friends in Bangalore through whome I can get it.

                      Thanks in Advance man!!

                      • My P200 seems to be similar to your's except for a few less changes..

I have it on stock suspension
                        Alarm Installed
                        Osram Nightbreakers
                        Engine Oil - Motul 300V

What i seriously hate is the tyre quality and its lack of grip as you correctly mentioned on GRAVEL and in the WET.

Whenever i see gravel i instantly slow down... she's just soo scary over it that i rather tread her gently than even think of keeping a steady pace over gravel. The wet performance is decent for speeds in a straight line up between 30-40 kmph.. anything over that and you really have to be careful for sudden changes in grip or road conditions.. the margin for error is very small

What i wanna know is how much is the Avenger 180 stator coil for? and does it actually help make a significant difference to the Osram Nightbreakers performance?

Without the coil, my nightbreakers dont put out much at low rpms and are heavily dependent on the engine revs due to the weak stator plate of the stock 200.

what i love most is the engine and her effortless cruise at 60-70... the engine is just creamy. Motul's 300V does help a lot as well. The difference to the normal oil is INSTANTLY noticeable when anyone makes the switch to the 300v.

As far as performance is concerned.. close to 8000k on the odo and she keeps me happy with 39-42 kmpl

                        • If you are using an Osram NB, you MUST put in the coil. I don't know what damage is being done (if any) without it, but one thing is for sure, without the coil the bulb will not operate on full power. The stock coil can only put out 35w of power, which means your 55w bulb is only giving an output of 35w. I paid Rs. 550 for it at Khivraj, Bangalore.

                          • ^^ relax.. theres no damage that happens.

I've been using it for over a year now.. in terms of night usage/actual lamp useage in hrs... i'd prolly say close to 600hrs

I just didnt change the coil because i was told by the service guys it was not recommended to do it within the service period, but also in general.. not to tamper too much with it.

Also, the difference over the regular bulb with the 55w nightbreakers is VERY evident even without changing the stator coil mate..

                            • Ok. Yes I know there is still a big difference, basically because the stock Halonix bulb sucks! But you will get even better light with the coil. And you won't have to keep revving the engine for more light. And also, the lag when switching on and changing from low to high beam or vice versa will also dissapear.

                              • will ask them to change it next time i get it serviced.

I was toying with the idea of porting the 220's projector setup to the 200.. but doesnt seem it can be done unless the full fairing and headlight assembly is ported along with it.

the 220's headlights are really awesome
