Hey buddy, The only thing that can really go wrong with a plug wire is a break in the insulation. The insulation (the rubber on the outside of the wire) keeps the electricity where it needs to be so it sparks on the inside of your engine, not someplace else before it gets there. If the insulation is cracked, the spark will jump off the wire. Inspect the wire by bending it for cracks...I guess a replacement of the spark plug wire is required.

Even I want a good tool kit..the one I have seems to be of poor quality. Even Hero Honda provides a better tool kit... To whom did you write your concern to for the tool kit. Can you share the same?

Ronit I wrote the the Honda HQ in Japan directly to the CEO...

Sachin visit the service center and have them check the spark plug wire. U can as well do it using the spark plug wrench. Ensure your bike is off and in center stand. BTW did u pressure wash your bike and did it get wet for a long time in heavy rain?

        • @Ronits & Ramesh, It was raining heavily for past few days and bike was exposed to heavy rains.i think some moisture has got inside spark plug cap causing low insulation.I thoroughly checked the wire myself by removing the cap from wire.there is no visible crack on wire.but what i saw is that spark plug wire is not in one single piece. there is a wire joint which has one end going inside spark plug cap while its other end is joined to main spark plug wire. This joint is covered with insulation tape.I suspect this joint could be the leaking source.Does your bike also has similar joint?I showed the bike to local mechanic,he removed the spark plug cap and has suggested me to try & change the spark plug cap, which costs 80bucks.

Sachin will look at it and update!!! By the way I had my first service yesterday at 472Km... Guys Engine oil changed and I had the center clean and lubricate the chain for which they charged as it is not standard at first service. But after first service the bike is vibrating hell a lot in neutral and the sound seems changed ... The vibration reduces as the speed is picked up... I guess the service center guy has fiddled with the rpm... increased it I guess... its hell a lot vibration when bike is idling in neutral.. help guys!!! please suggest... Milage now is 67kmpl

Also check the spark plug itself (try a new one) & clean all contacts . Current tries to travel the path of least resistance . If the plug is gone bad then only the current will try to find ground (chassis) by sparking outside it . Otherwise the plug should provide it the path of least resistance . Just my thought . IMO there should be no joints between the induction coil and the spark plug on the cable (continuous cable) .

Pinaki ji,thanks for info. This plug is already 6k old. probably its slowly dying now.today i removed the plug cap, cleaned it with dry cloth and also cleaned the spark, and put it back.now i did not observe any spark leakage.I have not checked under rainy conditions.
ya there should not have been any joints on spark wire, this is surely the handiwork of Honda mechanic.I will check some new Twisters at showroom for this.any idea how much this spark plug wire may cost?one more thing,is it ok to use engine oil to lubricate clutch and brake cables?i.e clutch and cable joints on the handlebar.

                • If Honda uses friction-free clutch & brake cables like HeroHonda , which is most likely (confirm this from a pack of genuine spare cable at the dealers , should be written on it clearly .. don't ask the mechanics .. they know zilch about it ) .... never use any oil or grease on the cable itself . It'll jam and soon break . You can grease the exposed stud/nipple end on both ends sparingly with good lithium grease for smooth operation of the levers .. that's all . Ordinary cables can & should be taken out and greased from time to time .
No , no idea about the price of the plug-wire .. should be less than 100 , but buy genuine spare from honda , it is a common point of failure .

                    • Nearing 14000kms. Changed the cone set. I lost the nuts which adjust the chain. Put news ones and fixed it. Got an LED light strip on front number plate. It's not for looks. Just to make me visible to others on the road.
Love the ride, not the destination

Once u switch off the ignition are u able to remove the key if you are not locking the handle bar!!! if this happens while locking the handle bar gently push the key fully inside and then rotate to lock the handle. they pull the key out. Btw Welcome to twister forum and what colour you have purchased? Rocky Please purchase a good quality ISI approved helmet and always wear it while riding man!!! Go for Steelbird, Studds, Vega or Motocross Gliders MC1 1500-2600 will do

But inserting the key/removing it isnt smooth.. it seems to b getting stuck and i have to put a lot of force. First 2 days i did not have this problem. My friend suggested me to put some oil and then try because he says the rain is the cause for that. Anyways i bought a Black colour Twister. From Bangalore @ Rs 56,429. The bike is GREAT!!

Yes applying Oil will help. My twister is 16 days old green. The delaer had oiled the ignition at delivery. But if it continues please contact SVC. As you are from Bangalore(I guess Haiku Honda is at Bangalore) Please get safety gear like gloved and jacket will cost 2-3 k but worth for crazy bangalore traffic. Ride safely... Twister is an excellent package from Honda!! Happy Biking.. I have spent 5 years in Blore Man crazy youths there people ride even on footpaths!!!!! Yeah I heard last 3 days its heavily raining there ..

hey rocky, from what i have seen, after fully inserting the key,you need to slightly push in the lock gently before turning the key. If you try to turn the key without pushing in then there is some obstruction observed.this is for ignition key only.also do not lock the bike in same direction all the time.try to keep the handlebar direction on both right and left side when you park and lock. and yes try putting some oil in key hole as it will help in smoother opening of lock.
