• Engine cover bolt hole thread damage

Has anybody spoiled the engine head cover bolt hole thread? I did it yesterday!!. I was really shocked to see that the bolt was not tightening at all, it because of over-tightening of the bolt. All this started with when I opened the head cover to replace the old head cover gasket as it was slightly leaking engine oil. I tried to add an extra washer to the bolt which didn't help. Finally I took it to my mechanic and he got it re-threaded from somewhere and fitted it back, he charged Rs.350/- for overall work. I am so relieved now.

I just wanted to share this with fellow Honda bike owners. Never tighten any bolt, be it the oil drain bolt or the head cover bolt, be easy with them.

After refitting, the engine has become rough and pick-up has dropped. maybe this is because of the changed valve settings. I will reset them according to the manual. the garage guys never use feeler gauge to set the clearances.

Motul 15w50(300v) or 5100..or maybe 7100.

Why Motul over Castrol?

I guess..
1> My Mechanic Recommends it
2>Longer Drain Intervals
3>Smoother Engine
4>Contains more amount of ester, calcium & Magnesium as compared to other oils...Garmi mein bhi Thandi ka Ehsaas!!..<--This is for your engine :P

Thats it!!...My GK is limited...Use it one, if you feel any difference continue using it..or else use the normal one..

Gentleman , allow me to add here something as per my recent GK , in MOTUL 15W50 means the oil has its viscosity and lubrication properties intact between 15 to 50 deg C. Below/above it the properties may get compromised.

So I think using a MOTUL 10W50 will be a safe play (as Manual book recommends 10W30)

Warm Regards,

nothing special needed. change oil, clean, lube & adjust chain. replace spark plug (though it can used to 12k kms but there are factors to consider) also check air filter, it should be changed between 10-15k kms. or much frequently if ridden in dusty environment

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

and regarding xxW50 oil, if ambient temps are below 40'C then your bike will loose some of its free reving nature..

I had explained the engine grade difference in another post sometime ago. Perhaps I will take the liberty to post that again here.

xpranav : The engine oil gets far hotter than 50 deg C. In fact, the engine can get hot enough to make coffee on it.

I think one word that got associated with stunner and Apache too is..... VIBRATION !!! I have been Enfield owner for more than 10 years, and I have driven enfields only till last 1 Year or so.....but I never know what are vibrations people talk about ??? Is this bike shaking or tingling sensations in handle bar, foot rest or something else ..... what actually it is ?? If somebody can help. just trying to improve my bike gyaan

I have heard that in latest stunners and Hero Ignitor , vibrations ( I dont know what this word means ) has been resolved.

take a ride if you come across any stunner ............ it is not like any earthquake or jaw dropping experience ................. when a small capacity bike is revved to higher rpms such a phenomena is sure to occur (as stunner redlines at 10 k rpm)

LOL....yes I too think it would not be earth quake type thing !! Same bike renamed as CBF 125 is being exported to European markets ( though with FI ) from India. It has good market there,it must be excellently designed bike.
