Any thoughts about this engine oil....Is it good?
I use Shell advance fast track and i feel its not suitable for a pulsar. everyday i notice that after a 10-15 km ride, the smoothness all goes away and gear shifts are not the same as it is initially(when the bikes engine temperature is a little lower). maybe that's because it is of 20w40 grade(bajaj recommends 20w50 for the new pulsar 150's.
Any tips regarding battery checkup?? my bike is 1yrs old.....do i need to change the battery or is there any optimal interval to change the battery?

Ya it is very good engine oil indeed. Pure VFM ..! It has been 1500 kms still running smooth and less engine temp. But the company recommended grade for P150 is 20w40 , so when i use 20w50 i can feel the sluggishness and engine is not free revving as before .
Regarding battery, Pulsars come with maintenance free battery so no top up is required. I haven't come across any battery failures in UG3 and later versions ..! I never topped up the battery in the last 10000 kms ..!

you can use any good quality oil of the specified grade, i use Castrol Power1 and add an additive called Bardahl, coz i thinks it helps improve the smoothness. you can also try bardahl.

regarding battery, you need to check the water level at each servicing and top up if required. there is no specific battery change interval. use it till it lasts. one day your starter will not work, it is the time to change the battery electrolyte completely and get charged from an external charger, again battery will last for few months and then die out.time to change. normally it lasts much more than one year...typicaly 1.5-2.0 years for exide.

            Congrats easy rider!
1.Check whether all lights and horn are working properly
            2.Engine oil level
3.Make sure you get MRF tyres not eurogrip
4.Inspect throughly is there any visible scratches and paint rip off
5.Get tool kit and user manual.

You wont find it difficult to ride as i was in the same state as you! Just that you need few days to adapt with weight!

            Happy and safe riding..!

            • Bike Wobbles..

              Hi Everybody,

              I own a Pulsar 150 Dtsi.
              My bike wobbles a lot.
My rear tyre is MRF Meteor(just changed 6 months back) and the front tyre is same as the stock tyre(not changed till now).
So i would like to know is it due to this reason that i have not changed the front tyre and so the bike wobbles ?
Also i hve done my servicing now just 5 days back so every thing is right.
Also do i need to check wheel alignment for any issue ?
Will changing the fron tyre will solve my problem ?
Please let me know as early as possible..

You dint mention how many kms has your bike run with stock front tyre ?
Check your tyre for uneven wear outs.. Also cone set needs to be changed at every 10000 kms. Else you will face wobbling issues.

Change the gears below 4k rpm and dont go beyond 60 kph for the first 1500 kms.. Release the brake and clutch completely before accelerating.. Avoid sudden acceleration and braking. Your bike will be fine then..

                    • Guess what? I just came back from my pre-delivery inspection of my pulsar and everything seemed to be fine until i looked at the tyres. My pulsar came with the euro grip tyres! I told them to either exchange the tyre or get me a pulsar wit MRF tyres. The sales guy said he'll see what he can do but i'm not very optimistic. And ya, Thanks a lot Prabhakar for telling me to look at the tyres. I wouldn't even think of giving the tyres another look otherwise. ( I just googled EUROGRIP tyres and i've only seen bad reviews!

                      • I for one got Eurogrip as stock Tyre. From my personal experience saying stay away from these tyres. They spoil the fun in riding. Your bike will wobble a lot and skidding cant be avoided. Nightmare in wet as well. In my case it was too late to change the bike as it was registered. I suggest you to wait until you get one with MRF tyres. Very few bikes come with MRF tyre.

At 29K's tyre would have given up and you have to change it..! Rotate front wheel in center stand and see whether the tyre worn evenly.. Easiest way to find your problem..!

The bajaj sales executive just called and told me that the bike is already registered in my name even though i went to the showroom yesterday and told him not to register it! I think he's bluffing about the registeration part because i started firing him and then he said he'll see what he can do. I think he's just trying to see if he force me to take the bike.

So i want to know that should i change the Front tyre of my Pulsar to same Stock tyre (MRF Zapper - FS) or is their any other tyre that is suitable and should be easily available ?
Also i changed my Rear Tyre to MRF Meteor also suggest which Front tyre should i go for or change it to Stock Tyres itself (MRF Zapper - FS).
