Front wheel wobble issue
Hey guys
I own a Bajaj Pulsar -150 DTS-i, (2005 model). It has done 73,000 kms and quite a few long trips. I have had absolutely no problems with its reliability.
I recently returned from a Pune-Hyd-Pune trip, and have developed a slight issue with my front tire. I noticed that at speeds of 60-65 kmph, the front tire wobbles if I leave the handlebars. It is not existent till 55 kmph, and over 70 kmps. It starts as I near 60 kmph, and dies down by the time I reach 70 kmph. What might be the reason?
Points to remember:
1. My front alloy has a (very) slight bend at a point. This has been there for the past 4 years, and hasnt caused any problem till now(so I assume its too small to be significant). No other bends on alloys.
2. I used to face this wobbling issue at lower speeds (about 40 kmph) in the past, but I discovered that its due to a worn out tire, also low on pressure. So when properly inflated its ok. I have even changed the rear tire after that.
3. I had no problems when I started off on the ride, but had an issue just after it, so something must have happened on the ride I guess??
Please help folks, I hate it when my bike's hurting
The more you know, the more you know how less you know.
The less you know, the more you think you really know!
Pune to Payyanur and back! 3 days on the road!

Check the RIM\Tyre Line (the area of tyre where it meets the alloy), It might be out (In simple words get the tyre removed from the RIM and then refit it with proper alignment). In most cases either bent RIM, improper alignment of Tyre line or Bent forks cause wobbling.Originally posted by kaushik60 View PostHey guys

I suggest you to look at other options too. Sz, fz, unicorn etc. They are way more smoother and handling wise much better. For your daily run, which is quite low, mileage shouldn't be an issue. If you had set your mind for pulsar then atleast go for P180, it has more power with big bike feel. The problem with P150 is you will get bored of it soon, feel underpowered. Atleast I did!Originally posted by abid567 View PostHey guys !
I'm planning to take pulsar 150 ug 4.5 in the next month .
I travel 8+8kms to college and I'm willing do 200+ kms trip once a month
I need a tourer in 150 cc
Is my decision good???

firstly do valve lapping, opt for amaron mf battery, opt for p ug 4.5 front disc assembly, nitrox.i don't think reflector and battery can withstand that setup.sprocketing is complicated work,do you really wanna do it?Originally posted by ramankr View Postim new member to this site.i own presently own pulsar 150 classic which has done around 42000kms.some problems like top speed and initial acceleration has decreased.it can do only 80kms maximum...but there is no jerking or noise from engine..i want to replace following parts
1-battery(brand and type)
2-front and rear tyres(i want to upgrade the rear size from 3.0-18 to 100-90-18 size keeping front to stock size to 2.75-18 size)im preferring ceat gripp does its avilable for both front and rear otherwise sirac street tyres
3-replacing the stator coil with avenger 180 coil for 55/60w setup..does reflector and dome glass avilable same as pulsar to withstand that setup..
4-parts to be replaced in engine gearbox and sporkets.,i dont want to change originalitx of classic....
5- rear shocks change to nitrox or cbz...does i need to change the swingarm and sporkets..i dont want any mods which affects on geometry of bike...
6-does its recommended to flush the engine for removing carbon deposits..
and material used for flushing...and suggest a good budget engine oil also
7-finally is its possible to mod front disk assembly of karizma as both have same rim size of 18...
please tell the amount needed for all these changes separately...i dont want to further mod my pulsar i wish to keep it as original classicand the question remains why do i race?

Sorry that I forgot to tell you mileage is the main thingy apart from highway riding.
Mileage should be around 50kmpl
@prabhakar150
I've tried unicorn and felt ...very ..very heavy even though its 5,6 kgs heavier than p150
Stiked off fz because of mileage ,and apache because of lack of comfort
How much will p180 give ?? It seems bit heavy too
I'm 19 ,5'8" tall and weigh 55kgs
So please suggest accordingly
Thank you

P180 should return around 45 kmpl. Go through the ownership thread, it will solve the doubts. Weight difference is negligible.
Also do check out Sz R , it's light, refined, has excellent handling and is as powerful as P150 in lower revs. I kinda feel that it suits your requirement best.
A test drive is all you need! So that you won't regret after getting one.

Will check it and get back. I really hope it solves my problem. I also just noticed that there is a constant small vibration that I can feel in the handlebars (apart from the normal P150 vibesOriginally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostCheck the RIM\Tyre Line (the area of tyre where it meets the alloy), It might be out (In simple words get the tyre removed from the RIM and then refit it with proper alignment). First I thought of taking sz-r as the price is pretty low for 150cc bike with yamaha quality
but after reading ownership reviews I came to know sz-r is also having probs intially and also in the long run
probs like slippery tyres, lack of digi console ,bad mileage ( compared to other 150cc),head light
Though I 'm yet to take a test drive ,all those factors making me to back off
About p180 do you think I need 180 cc suits me?.I'm not power hungry bike .I'm a sane rider except on some highway points
Whats the mileage diff. between p180 and p150??
Which one gives best mileage between new p150 vs unicorn vs gs150r ??
Which one has the moooooooost pillion comfort ,for my elder brother and my mother ???
sry I asked many question ,but please reply to them

Well buddy the things you listed are not really issues.. No digi meter, poor tyres etc. That's the reason sz costs less. Even pulsar 150 comes with the same tyres. I am not sure about the mileage sz returns.Originally posted by abid567 View PostFirst I thought of taking sz-r as the price is pretty low for 150cc bike with yamaha quality

P150 gives 53-54 if you ride it sane. P180 has mileage difference of 6-8 kmpl depending on riding style.
Pillion comfort should be equally good on unicorn and gsr. Its time to open a new thread , you would get opinions from owners of the above listed bikes.
