          • Anyone owns the 2012 model Pulsar 150 here? I was going to purchase the Suzuki GS150R and am completely sold to it. However, I saw the new P150 this morning and was very happy to see that Bajaj has done away with the Black Gearbox. I was never a fan of Pulsars due to this reason, since the black powder coating looks ugly after few months of usage.

The only problem with the Suzuki is the availability of spares in the open market. Since I am a DIY guy, I don't want to depend on SVC for everything.

For guys who feel Suzuki is reliable compared to Bajaj, let me tell you my Caliber 115 completes 9 years in March. I have clocked 118000 so far and running completely stock. Only changed tyres, batteries, filters etc. Even the indicator bulbs are still original.

If anyone here owns the new model, please post your review, pros and cons, etc.
Better late by 30 minutes than early by 30 years.

                • Urgent call to all classic owners

                  Hello friends,

I own a Classic 2002 model (round lamp, wire wheels).

I have misplaced the toolkit and just cannot find it.

Now, in June, I will be going to Leh. Read it here

Can ANYONE here help me to get a new one/borrow one for the journey? I am really concerned; the days are passing and no toolkit yet. I am told that the tools for the newer Pulsars do not fit the older "original" ones

Please help. I will be in Pune between 10 Mar and 17 Mar and again between 22 Apr and 05 May. My Rajkot number is (^@$#$((^$ and Pune is (^@#*##&%)

                  Thanks in advance,

                  Regards

                    • Pulsar 150 [UG 4.5] Run in and opening engine

                      Hi,
I'm another proud owner of pulsar 150 [UG 4.5]...
I'm completely new to this heavenly world of bikes
Jus learnt to ride bike in few days, bought a P150 coz it suits me

Its almost 20 days from date of purshase [ 200km ]
I guess the mileage is around 35, not yet serviced...

I have some questions to ask you people out there...

                      1) Which is the best way to find out the bike mileage? (Other than the full tank method)

                      2) What is `opening engine`, like making the bike to touch the max huh?
Guide me in detail how to do that and after how much km ?

                      3) I read the about the maintenance n all, should i use choke in cold mornings, is it mandatory, coz my bike starts off in one start itself, i keep it idle for 30 secs and then move it slowly... like ...10 ...20 and then I reach 50-60s. Does this method harm the engine???

I have tons of questions in my mind... I found this site and its forum members giving genuine tips and info... So I hope even I can get some...

                      Awaiting replies....

Congrats Buddy for the latest ownership of a Pulsar .
As you have already gone through the Maintenence Manual , the best way is follow the book for engine to Run-in .

For fuel consumption you can take the calculation by tank full to reserve . As the bike is new dont worry more abt the mileage , be generous now so that the engine Run-in is complete . Please follow the Run-in procedure strickly .

You should switch off the choke when the revs starts to increase on its self ,I guess the choke is manually operated not like P220 's (Auto-choke Carb ). Once the rev's increases keep the bike idle for a while then ride according to the manual during Run-in period .

Any problems we r always there for you ....& Ride Safe .

                        • I am here with a new problem, in fact the first major problem with my bike.

My bike's engine heats up pretty quickly and smells like something burning inside(not just fuel)! At first I thought it was because of the old engine oil and got it changed. To my surprise the problem still exists and every time I ride my bike, I feel like engine might blow off at anytime.

It runs like there's no fuel left, I didn't play with Carb tuning either. I believe it's running lean somehow. Some one pls clarify me what's wrong with my bike..

                            • check tyre pressure.
                            • check chain slackness/tightness- should not be too loose or too tight.
                            • check if tyres are free to rotate/check if brakes are too tight.
                            • check spark plug colour, if its white or greyish white. it means engine running too lean. if that is the case change carb setting. remember to make it rich you have to unscrew it and to make it lean you have to tighten it. specially in summer it is best to keep it little bit on rich side to prevent overheating. ideally ur spark plug colour should be brownish, but not black.
                            • check if there is some air leakage from hose pipe that connects air filter box to carb. sometimes that can cause ur bike to run lean by sucking additional air from a leak. this can be identified by sound of engine, if it produces little bit like a free flow exhaust, remember little bit.
                            • check oil level, is it decreasing fast? advice-even if not it is better to fill 1.1-1.2 litres of oil instead of 1.0 litre if you have a habit of riding fast or if you ride continuously for more than 30 mins or so, coz pulsar engines have a tendency to heat up more and consume some oil. but do not put more than 1.2 litres of oil otherwise oil seals may rupture.
                            • if nothing works, replace reed switch which is located on carb, costs around 100 rupees.
                            • still have problem check carb, open it and clean it. also check if carb piston and diaphram is ok. but if this is the problem you should be experiencing flat spots in power delivery, where the piston gets stuck for a while.
                            • keep us informed.

As Princi has pointed out most possible reasons related to the problems ,the carb may be the suspect in this issue . I hope you have gone with mineral oil only cause I hate synthetic's as I do also hate branded petrol like Speed,97 Octane , they just bring the knocking devil's back in P150's .....

                              • Pulsar 150 ug-3

Hello A/all I have been on this forum for sometime now.I have posted a few posts but not that active.I own a pulsar 150-ug3 2007 model. My bike has clocked 40,000 kms.I have never had major issues with my bike what i am concerned about it is minor niggles which has not been solved.Ok the problem with my bike is related to the handle since 2009 i have had cone set jobs done like 8 times with different mechanics i used to get a sound when i applied the brakes or when i checked it on potholes or speed breakers..the sound nowadays is gone but the steering is stiff sometimes on the left side and sometimes on the right.I also experience stiffness or hardness on the handle bar and my wrist moves a bit on concrete roads {the throttle side right wrist}The handle does not move freely like it used too when i bought a brand new bike i have spent around 500 everytime for the cone set up and I have also tried welding the T stem twice have not been successful. Can someone please help?I have no other problem with my bike its in excellent condition.I have changed the tyres, spark plugs, swing arm bush, throttle cable, clutch cable, carb air screw, fork oil from time to time, diaphragm, disc pads etc..I also would like to know what is the right amount of engine oil to be replaced?the mechanics here do 1100ml and sometimes 1200..they say its not 1 litre for UG3 pulsars..i also would like to know what amount of fork oil is to be used i think its 150 ml?but most of them use 160 to 175 ml here.
Thanks!!any suggestions would be of immense help
