115kmph was odo speed for UG1 btw , the true speed will be 5-6kmph less and UG4.5 Pulsar should go upto 110 kmph true speed as it has exhaus TEC , 17'' et all craps .

See all the power comes at 8500rpm which itself sits at a high side , so if we r riding at top speed , revs will remain on high side no matter what mods we do to our bikes.
Taking example from my bike which is 150cc UG1 too, I do long ride at 80-85kmph bracket with rpm in 6500-7500 rpm range with me heavy alone. I have opted for a bigger 45 teeth sproket which gives me mid end band mostly required to climb alltitute and most of the trips are to hills where top gear is seldom used. Highest gear used is 4th .

I've tried tuning the bike but to no avail. My bike is giving a fuel economy of 36-38 kmpl. Is it OK? I drive 70 kms daily(to & fro) at speeds ranging between 65 to 75.

        • it seems very less P150 owners are left on the forum, or they are not much interested in the ownership thread...

Hello Raj. Congrats on your new ride. It does sound astonishing to me on choosing a new P150 as your ride.

Well, as far as the run-in is considered, stick to the manufacturer recommendations if you want to take it easy. However, try to breach the speed limit set by Bajaj in the manual by a few KMPHs. This will help you in longer run. Long explanation, but trust me, that's the best you can run-in. Change the oil in first servicing and be gentle on the throttle. Try to maintain tyre pressure as recommended. This is the Chapter 1. We have a long list of experienced members to help you along.

I hope you have the most important HELMET. Ride safe, take care mate.

              • No gearing change after P200 14/38 chain kit on P150 UG3

                Hi all,

I have changed my pulsar 150 UG3 chain kit to P200 14/38T hoping that it would overgear my ride but to my surprise I do not find any change in the way the rpms and speeds vary.. My bike still does the same 50kmph at 5k rpm. Isn't the bike supposed to let me gain more speed at less rpm? Or I've been thinking it wrong the whole time? :-/ very confused.. Please help me..

I can think of only two ways to eliminate this:

                    1. Try to slot the gear at proper RPM, preferably between 3-4K RPM with sufficient pressure on the gear lever. The bike is new and gear shifts will be hard. If this doesn't work, read the 2nd way below.

                    2. Go to service center and tell them that you are facing this problem. I sense a clutch setting not optimized. They will adjust the clutch and this should make that problem go away. Take a test ride and use all the gears preferably the 4th and 5th, since you are getting some problem there and report to them if it doesn't look good to you.

Still if you are facing problem, come back here buddy. We have a lot of people to help you.

Even I was trying to change the chain-sprocket kit and get P220's, but I see from your post that it doesn't yield that output which is desired.
Have you tried higher in the rev range? I own UG4.5 with 7979 kms on odo and it does 50KMPH at exactly 4K RPM. I think the effects are more prominent up in the RPM range. Try at speeds of 70-90 KMPH, there should be a drop in RPM as compared to the stock setup. Where do you live in Hyderabad? Perhaps we can meet and discuss more on this. PM me your number if you are ok to do so mate.

                    • The Bajaj SVC in my area loves to overhaul the engines....Went to them for the head work of my pulsar last month....when revv high the bike was giving black smoke....so i was asked for engine overhaul....estimate 8k....i asked them for possible reasons for the same apart from block-piston-rings.....they said no....i asked them to do the head work, they said the problem wont be solved...(actually my bike was problem free after tappets setting last time....that time i taught the SVC a lesson by taking administrative action and getting their manager arrested for intentionally ruining my bike to persuade me for engine overhaul...lol) i told them that the mixture was rich which was causing black smoke...they laughed at me....i retuned the carb in front of the manager and the smoke was gone....they had no clue...left the SVC after threatening them and with no work done...
anything smoking they just overhaul engine without any smoke or air test....once i had gone there for compression test they told me to sit and later came up and told the compression was low without any exact figure.....later i found that they were not equipped with the compression checking gauge.....
This time i am thinking of moving to next SVC maybe in Ranchi....will head there when i get the time....but the time enjoying the ride as the bike is giving 54kmpl....

Hi Akash, today i got a chance to ride my bike at pretty good speeds. The change that i have noticed is at higher speeds the RPMs are lowered.
                        I think i touched 100-105kmph at ~<8k RPM.
Does the stock setup behave in the same way? I just cant seem to remember what it was earlier.

I too need to check that mate. I will do that for you tomorrow, after office. But mine is a UG 4.5, so most likely, it will be hitting 100-105 KMPH @ ~8K RPM.

Power has increase by around 1 PS from 14.09 to 15.06 in UG 4.5. All black color scheme including engine and fork. Tank has received faux air scoops. Speedometer gets a new background stickering.

2012 P150 is all about visual changes - grab rails have become black, handlebars have become black, engine casing gets the new golden-silverish color. And that's it. No mechanical changes. But yes, the new P150s too get the Bybre brake assemly.

I have an update for you mate. Touched 100 KMPH at exactly 8k RPM. So, if its a UG 3 model, then I guess this makes the bike behave like UG 4.5. You surely must be doing more on the RPM at 100 KMPH. I don't think there is anything that we need to adjust while changing chain-sprocket set. It should be a plug and play.
                                Regards,
