I too agree on this point, the CBR that I saw in Dhruvdesh Honda too had this same issue, it looked like some after market stuff, infact even worse than that, the RTR's rear set look better than these.

      • After my ride all i can say is:-

1.) Its good for its price.
2.) Its not like a Ninja 250, its More like a souped up Karizma. Ninja is in a league of its own.
3.) Engine fires up and idles in typical honda way.
4.) Engine, Clutch and gears are butter smooth. Typical Honda. If u have a Karizma u know this already.
5.) Could not test headlights as it was afternoon.
6.) Excellent handling. Though nowhere close to R15, its better than Pulsars, Karizmas and Comet 250.

I dont know why but i didnt find CBR as fun as a R15 or a P220. I mean the X factor was absent. When i first rode R15, i had that HUGE grin on my face all day long. The way that bike steered and the handling that makes u feel like god and try to knee down at every frigging corner.
When i first rode 2010 P220 it had that "big" pulsar feel to it. She made me feel like a hooligan and pop wheelies everywhere and i actually wanted to get a P220S.

But when i rode CBR 250R. I was like "its a good bike, Good for daily commutes to office". Its more like a feeling after Driving a Volkswagen Passat. This bike does everything so perfectly that it is Boring.

Overall this bike is what ZMR would have been.

Will i trade my Pulsar for it? Hell NO! As one gentleman said before, I will rather put that 1.5L as downpayment for a Supersport or i will wait for a better bike.

You echo my thoughts exactly. Its what ZMR should have been. Considering the very average fit and finish, the price is not justified IMO though.
The trouble right now is that my 220 needs some fixing up (maddening vibrations at 5.5to 6 k rpm range plus 43k km old clutch, balding tyre etc) and because of that the cbr seems like manna from heaven I really need to cancel my booking and stop thinking about this temptation. I seriously doubt on the P220 part.. I have spent quite a long time with my Pulsar 200 and a Pulsar 220 and thats why I can tel you that Pulsars are fun to ride but they are nowhere close to the smooth rides, smooth gear boxes of HONDA..
Fun bikes are enjoyable for a while, but at the end of the day you would like to have a smooth and comfortable ride when you are going for a tour or a weekend ride.. and yes, the bike has enough power to have fun as well...

              • Saw the bike at Pratul Honda, Somajiguda. I am not too impressed with the quality of the bike. The quality of clipons, seat covers, and the foot peg frames are not up to Honda's quality. The quality of ZMR is way better.

Ninjette will be a worthy upgrade from 220.

I never expected it to perform even close to a Superbike. U cant compare a Quarter liter commuter to a 900BHP/ Ton monster .

CBR has more power than the Pulsar and better engine/ gearbox. But in my case it lacked fun factor and could not bring a Smile on my face. However, its just me. Opinions may differ.

I am not a tourer so cant say about touring abilities of baby CBR. But for my city commutes and weekend rides i will keep my Pulsar .

Agree. The seat coveres can be changed, foot pegs can also be changed but I wonder whether the clip ons can be changed or not, they can be but then that might change the entire shape of the assembly.

                          /QUOTE]

Thanks for the info, but i am not expecting this to give me a feeling of 1000 cc bike, but atleast want it to be better than indian mopeds and even a small version of superbike.

If this can't give me that feel even and any xyz bike can look n go better than this, than i would better wait for some months and get a ninja 650 or a hyosung gt650r.

Definitely, incomparable, but when we are getting full fairing and a name of renowned bike with this 250 cc thing, than we can expect it to atleast match the levels.. isn't it?

Bingo!! Thats exactly how I felt after I saw the bike and test-rode it. CBR250R is a good bike, however as you rightfully said the Fun Factor was missing. Gearbox is super smooth, engine is refined, but then Fun element was missing. (This is purely subjective) Its definitely worth it if someone is thinking to upgrade in the price band that CBR is being offered.

I guess my souped up 220 (Joel'd) will be in service for some more time, and the 1.5 lac Rupees will be saved for something big or if Bajaj decides to reduce the price of Ninja 250.
