How do you guys cope up with scratches?
Leave them how it is or get it buffed out or replace the fairings?

I cant stand any kind of scratches on my ride sadly
Should I get the fairing replaced just because of scratches or let the bike carry the scars of glory?
I dropped the bike on the right side stand still too while getting it down from the centre stand on a tilted side of a road . Luckily I didn't have any scratches on the fairing except a not so noticeable tiny sport on the exhaust. The right indicator came out which I could snap into position easily. My advice? Get a sticker job done for now to hide the scratch. If you get a few more, then you can consider replacing the fairings.

You could get spot lamps/Cree LEDs and mount them for better night time visibility.
Is the bulb a direct fit? Is it completely white in colour? Did you get pulled over by the cops because of the colour (happens for white lights in my area sometimes)? Does changing the lamp to anything other than stock affect warranty of any sort?

      Apologies for the multiple questions?

I did try getting the Cree LEDs but there wasn't any spot to easily mount them on my Gixx SF, atleast that's what I felt. Suggestions in this regard are welcome too! [emoji14]

Any H4 bulb is a direct fit. Light is not pure white. Never have been stopped by cops. Even SVC mechanic's can't differentiate between stock and this bulb. So no need to let them know and your warranty is intact.

I had never used the spot lights, so i will let others who used it respond to this question.

Any opinion on this 35W bulb?

The only ill-effect of the 55W bulb you mentioned is a drain on the battery, right? I don't want to damage the wiring/reflectors, that's why I ask! I'm pretty unschooled in this regard. [emoji14]

People have used a 60W bulb on the gixxer for a year or more with no side effects.

I'm using a Philips 60W bulb (forgot which one), here's the low beam-

            and the high beam-

In the long run, the reflector may get damaged/darkened (if the quality is poor), but I prefer to be able to see the road better than to save the battery/reflector which we can replace easily.

Thanks for the information brother! I'll be switching to the 55W Philips bulb recommended in the previous post!

I just got my Gixxer SF on 18th this month.
                  Completed 850kms
Should I take my bike for svc or should wait for more 100 kms?
Also I get a squeaky noise from my front wheel!
I went to svc centre and they said it was the brake pads that made the noise and it will be corrected in the service!
Any suggestions on this would be helpful!
                  Thankyou

Congrats for the new bike brother.
You really seem to be enjoying it. 850kms in a couple of weeks is nice.
regarding the service, stick to the guidelines provided in the service book. The manufacture know the best. I think it is 1000km or 1 month for the first service. No need to hurry. Follow the book.
Can't say much about the nose from the front, it might just be dirty brake pad. Remind them about it when you go for service.
May you have many many happy and safe mile ahead.
                    Ride safe.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Went for the svc today as the front wheel noise was much disturbing !!
They only did one thing I.e. sprayed some lube on the bearings which temporarily took out the noise but the noise came back in the evening !
The svc costed 530 bucks which included oil and oil filter change !
Planning to go again tomorrow for the wheel noise!
Poor service provided by Umang Motors , Rohini , Delhi!

So here goes a common query. Ideally, how many patches/ repairs can the tyre take (preferably the mushroom plug method) from punctures before needing a replacement? Also, can anyone tell me the cost of the stock MRF tyres? Do I need to visit separate Tyre shops or do the SVCs stock them enough when I need a replacement?

P.S. - http://goo.gl/d6z6N8 (For reference, why the rubber strip is not safe in the long run and more of a temporary momentary solution)

http://goo.gl/W8FCHJ (Something I found that did the job easier)

http://www.amazon.in/Stop-Go-1000-Po.../dp/B0006NE3KE (Wonder if there is something for cheap)

UPDATE: apparently after a week they found the problem for the white smoke coming from the exhaust.. that too for a 4 month old 3000 km run bike..
Apparently valve there was some issue, manufacturing defect, hence the extra mixture was leaking into combustion chamber, and hence extra white smoke.
They said By Monday evening I'll get the bike. And, I don't need to pay anything, obviously.

IMHO, no matter what we do (or the SVC); the paper/woven fabric air filter cannot be cleaned effectively - compared to the good old foam-and-oil ones.

                                1. Cleaning with a cloth won't suffice - either use vacuum on the "top" side (or) use pressurized air to the side that sits on the mesh/flame arrestor.
                                2. Get a Zorrik/WD40 and spray (very little amount, take care not to spray on panels, etc) on the threads in which the screws go. Would prevent them from jamming the next time when one tries to open.
                                3. On the Gixxer, I have seen technicians at SVC replacing the 2 gaskets in the air filter box every time they replace an air filter for Gixxer. So, one has to make sure these are good too (not cut, etc) when you open, remove, clean and put everything back. Replace those gaskets when you replace the air filter.

Honda (and Hero Moto Corp) should be appreciated for bring in "Viscous oil" use and throw paper filters in their vehicles - I don't know how their filters fare - may be the viscous oil ones go on clogging exponentially as they can't be cleaned; but definitely is better than ordinary paper filters. I wish Suzuki provided this type in future.
