I was reading threads about lighting and thus thought this will be perfect place to ask this question. I have R15 V1.0 and want to upgrade the headlight. Stock setup sucks bit time as its not adequate in city roads, leave alone the highway. I am not a frequent long distance tourer but do many short tours in nightand day. I need a set up which will not be heavy on the battery (as thats the only issue i read every where) plus I dont want to shell heavy amount on this moidification (Like HID). Please suggest bulb type i.e. Model for Low and high beam. I need better performance with present setup as I dont want to touch electrical set up of the bike which came as stock. waiting for some quick response.
    Thanks in advance
Hi Nishant, sorry for not replying the PM, I missed it somehow

Best way to upgrade ur hl without making holes on the wallet is to go for 55/60W halogens from Philips/Bosch/Osram. But u may face battery issues on b2b drives as the charging wont be sufficient during these rpms, so u need to keep the rpms above 3K as much as possible. Upgrading the battery is another option but am not sure about its feasibility on R15, let some of the fellow members comment on it.

I was just thinking to go for a 35 W for Low beam and 55 W for high Beam. I don't go for high beam untill I'm on highways or open roads where I can do some good speed and need to see some good distance ahead. Will it be good idea as when on high beam and on open roads, i will be doing above 5k RPM anyways which will be charging the battery as I use it for High beam bulb. And Battery will not be loaded much in city as I will be using Low leam (35 W) all the time. Correct me\suggest me if I'm wrong.
PS: I'm not intented to use high power HL to blind the on coming traffic whether they do it or not.

Oops ..my bad I forgot about the dual HL assy in R15. U r right, plonk the 55W on the high beam HL and let the stock 35W bulb on low beam so that u can peacefully ride in city b2b drives without loading the battery. If u use the high beam on highways only ur battery wont suffer the strain from the additional watts.

That looks like a good idea.
35watt or low and 55w on high.

55watt bulbs are cheap so there is no problem in trying that.
As you are not making any significant changes, you can always revert back to 35w if you face battery draining issue.

                • I own a Yamaha fz16.
I've been reading through this thread for a while. And Im still no where near reaching half the pages
I was interested in attaching red demon eye lights.
White ring with red inside. About half a year ago my friend got it fit for 6k in cochin, whats the present market rate now?
Also, i want my setup to be street legal. So that means 4200k with well set up reflectors?

And is there any place in kerala with reasonable rates?

                  Cheers,
                  John

AK Traders are Authorized Dealers of Philips, so these should be Genuine.
Got reply from the philips dealer in mumbai & pune .
The kit (Two H4 HID's, ballasts and wiring ) is available in 35 watt , in mumbai it is for 8500 incl vat , while in pune it is for 9500 .
Looks like difference in price at different places

                      • Friends, I am facing a weird prob since Yesterday. The pilots are coming on each time I brake. when brake is released, they go off. No wiring modification has been done. only I changed the pilots and tail lamps to plug and play LEDs. My Bike runs on DC.
                        please help me solve it

Does he sell as a single piece? I dont need two.

                          • Hi John,

No I don't think he sells single pieces. Coz when I got it, I got it as a pair. I put one on my ride and the other went to my friend's.

However, he also has single motorcycle specific projectors which have even more color options for angel/demon eyes:

Motorcycle Bi-xenon HID projector + Angel + Demon Eye | eBay

However, I think these projectors are a lil' smaller. Just contact him and ask him straightway. He usually replies fairly quick.

I have a similar query.....can I fit these bulbs directly on to my RTR 160. As these are of 60W rating, wouldn't the power be insufficient for them.

Some one told me there is a rectifier which restricts the power supply to 35W only, hence the 60W bulb will be under illuminated.

                              Please suggest.

                              • alternate reflector for re tbts

hello everyone. any information about a reflector wich will b a direct fit to the re tbts' coz yhe stock reflector doesnt support 55/60watt bulb.
is the power suppy of tbts is enough to run a 55/60w bulb? coz being at dc supply it flickers at lower rpm n when i press the pass switch it gets brighter than the normal high beam. any idea bout it?
