Also is there any way to stiffen the front shocks of 180.It dives too much during braking for my taste.

Bajaj oil is semi synthetic but it still lacks the performance, I am using it currently and change it in next 1500kms (a total of 2000kms).Originally posted by Ghost11 View PostIs mineral oil only good for 1500kms?.Bajaj oil is mineral oil right?

Use higher weight oil in shocks if you want a stiffer front suspension.

Alright so when you say "it lacks performance" does it mean it performs even less than a Motul 3000 mineral oil?If the answer is YES ,i am currently using bajaj oil as well so next time can i move onto Motul mineral oil.I hear that once you use a semi-synthetic or synthetic oil you should never move back to a mineral oil.So how does that work out?.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostBajaj oil is semi synthetic but it still lacks the performance, I am using it currently and change it in next 1500kms (a total of 2000kms).

Do suggest me some higher weight oils that i can use on the shocks. Is using higher weight oil going to create any problems with the shock in the long run?.Has anyone tried it?Last edited by Ghost11; 03-06-2011, 12:53 PM.

Yes, that's how I felt. Poorer than a Motul mineral too. that's how it goes for me. You could switch from SS to Mineral, but it is not advisable to directly switch from Synthetic to Mineral unless there is an urgency. Go step by step Synthetic-Semi Synthetic-Mineral. No problems.Originally posted by Ghost11 View PostAlright so when you say "it lacks performance" does it mean it performs even less than a Motul 3000 mineral oil?If the answer is YES ,i am currently using bajaj oil as well so next time can i move onto Motul mineral oil.I hear that once you use a semi-synthetic or synthetic oil you should never move back to a mineral oil.So how does that work out?.

No problem in using higher weight oils, they are available on automotive spares parts shops.

Anyone used these premium fuels in their 180s? I tried out Speed (just for the heck of it) and now it seems like a mistake. The mid range pickup has dropped. Earlier the bike would very easily attain 95 in fourth, now its struggling. Putting speed in is the only change I made in the bike in the past few days.

best lid around 2k. plus it's DOT certified.
If they check ISI mark in chennai, I'll suggest to get that sticker on helmet.

I have recently installed K&N air filter 1100 on pulsar 180 ug4.I have kept the air filter inside the air filter box. did not done the up-jetting or something..
from the day i have installed k&N i can feel ,the bike is going faster i think by 10%...but its getting heated like hell...i almost feel..hot air touching my feet when i ever i do 80 or 70 for 15 minutes..what i feel is k&n filter will definately will increase ur pick up but has side effect like huge engine heat up and further engine oil eating up due to engine heat up...
I think with K&N,bike definitely needs to have radiator set up.
like in pulsar 220 or yamaha r15 which can probably can compensate the additional heat building up due to k&N
but with air cooled engines i think K&N is not a perfect match...
BTW i am removing the K&N today.. i don't need extra pick up & roar at the cost of engine heat and my engine going for a toss....

As you said that you have not replaced the carburetor jets, thus resulting in engine running too lean, you could have atleast tried setting the mixture a little rich. And one does'nt need a radiator set-up you just need to have proper tuning to achieve best performance. That's a mod. not tuned properly, sorry to say. K&N and air-cooled engines have no relation to go with one just needs proper setting again I say.
Remove the k&n if you don't plan to upjet, otherwise your engine will be fried like a over-roasted bread.

Just curious what will happen with Up jetting and whats happening now.."running too lean" is not exact idea whats happening inside...Appreciate if you can elaborate also how up jetting will solve the problem of heating .
What jets i need to replaced ? Can you suggest what is tuning i required to do ? Last time when i checked with the Mechanic and guy who installed said ,this set up does not require up jetting i asked them several times regarding this up jetting..
Btw,
even with more air+ more fuel (up jetting ) results in more exhaust gases.Does the silencer in UG 4 does have capability send exhaust gases quickly before another combustion cycle starts?
