I will change it but you have to wait for a month to know the results. It is not difficult, just go to service center and ask old model extreme battery cage and fit it. You need to open three bolts to open the battery cage from frame. Install the old model extreme battery cage and use 7 AH battery without any problem.
All here with new model extreme and hunk, those 4 AH battery are complete waste and they will not last for more than 1.5 years. As soon as warranty gets over they will start showing defects. This i have confirmed from my retailer friend who also deals with battery. So the only solution is to change to old model battery cage and fit 7 AH battery.
But i will fabricate a battery cage and fit 9 AH battery.

The bike feels AMAZING even with the crappy hero oil - the engine has become so quiet like the old Xtreme .The pull has increased when i open the throttle - feels very hard to stay under 50KM/HR .

The mech asked my permission before he changed anything which was nice - he changed the accelerator cable + clutch cable. Also replaced some kinda rubber bush in the front forks - he cleaned the oil stainer and the CF filter .

Told him to change the clutch plate but he refused saying it was in good condition - investigated the hard gear shifts and said it will take Rs 40 to fix it but the spares were not available told me to come after one week .

Even though the GM said i cant watch the mech change my bore - i quietly slipped into the service area and watched everything -for some reason they were jumpy about my camera and didnt allow me to take any snaps so only took snaps of couple of bike that claimed 3 lives in total outside the service area .

The total bill came to Rs 4700 not R6000 that they intially claimed .

@sibun the head mech told me later that though the kit was SAL the rings were from USHA only - dont know how that is possible .

My eyes are burning as i have fever - saw a splendor that has done 2,10,000+ kms with 2 overhauls costing 12K each . cant write anymore as i am tired and my eyes feel like its being cooked
The ASC's are reliable, great to know that. Best wishes for your fresh engine

can that cage be installed without any mod?

9Ah ? i hope u r going for a Dual-Projector Headlight which i see somewhere back in this thread. if yes do let me know the approx cost and the process. i m more interested in normal bulb rather than projectors.may be due to their higher cost

One thing for sure i m gonna install is remote start after i convert to 7Ah
        .

Hi Sarbon the current hero honda oil is not crappy as it is made by Tide water(Veedol) same as honda oil. So this oil is as good as Honda 10W30.

Congrats on your engine rebuild and enjoy your ride.
Bro it was loose oil from barrel dont know if it is from veedol but changed it after running 50kms to honda genuine oil

Yeah will post the breakup of the bill soon - can you resend the PM as i dont see any new alerts .

The Mech returned the old bore and the valves today said to polish it and keep it as backup - the old bore he said to re bore to next oversize only not 0.5 size . I will post the old bore + valve pics later - also i saw someone chrome their valves in the splendor thread and asked the mech if i can do the same - he said not to do that he explained why but i didnt understand what he said .

If you really want to know the reason, please go through the splendour thread in detail. Sibun has given a detailed and fantastic explanation for the problems faced when polishing the valves n the head. Btw, he (xbhp id: paul1911) did not chrome the valve! He polished it! And finally gave it a metal polish finish!

                • a query to all xtreme owners,

in my xtreme ,the headlight focus is uneven, meaning there is more light to the left and relatively less light at the right..it can be felt more while riding in the highway....

it happens only with dipper lights but head is okay...

when i told to svc, they adjusted the headlight housing and told to check after riding in the ni8, but to my dismay the throw was a bit forward and the problem was still present....

when i again went to svc ,they told that itz because of headlight design and nothing can be done..

it makes ni8 driving unsafe...any one else facing same problem?

will installing xenon(white light) Void the warranty?

                  another prob,
my rear mudguard has a whitish tinge due to stupid mechanic who polished my bike wiped my mudguard with same cloth...any solution?

The headlight bulbs, reflectors and lenses are designed to provide asymmetric low beam to prevent glaring and is as per the ECE regulations. Though India is not a member country of ECE, Japan is.
here. Other option is making the bike full DC and fitting 55/60 watts Osram Night Breaker or Philips X-treme Power bulb.

                      • This just sucks. I've riding around town for a bit now and I see my mileage has suddenly dropped from 48 to 38! I was unable to figure out why when I decided to do my routine Tyre Pressure check. I was shocked to see the pressure had dropped from 29 to 10 in a matter of 1 week! I again refilled to 29 and checked after 4 days(ie. Today) and it's at 21. Looks like I have air leaking out of the tyres. Rats. Any fix? I've had this issue before and it was fixed by a local tyrewala who just added a strip of insulation all through the inside of the alloys. I guess it's because of me hitting a pothole pretty hard a week or so ago. Bad news. Will get this checked ASAP and then reply back here.

                        UPDATE:
Could someone explain what exactly is Tappet Noise? A description of the noise would also be helpful. Also, the lock issue still remains.

From your pictures as i have told your bore is ok. See even the honing marks are not gone. As i had told a change of Rings would have easily lasted another 30k.
I had told you that since pulling power is ok but only smoking and oil consumption is there so only ring is gone and the bore is ok. See that the bore is ok. Check the groove on top where there is slight carbon deposit. The rings come upto that point so the top part doesn't wear out. From this you can easily determine the bore is still usable.
And the valves so that you have been burning oil from a long time and this was your reason for sudden loss in compression. Also use IFTEX system 2-3 to keep the valves and intake clean.

Check your alloy for bends. For air leaking check at a reputed shop who deals with car tubeless puncture and you will get the solution of your problems.
As the name suggest if the valve clearance increases then there will be noise.
The noise is like light hitting of hammer like tak... tak....
Always adjust the tappets with feeler gauge as a loose tappet will cause noise but a tight tappet will cause lose in compression and engine idling problem and lose in power.

                          • Queries regarding bike maintainance

                            Hello guys,
I have some queries regarding my bike (xtreme 2010 model -black red)

Which Engine oil is most recommended for our bike? I'm thinking of Motul 20W40, but could not locate any dealer in Nagpur selling it (even online). So if you have any, please tell me.

Do engine oil supplements work? If yes then which to prefer?

Is Ngk Iridium Spark plug good for our bike and will it need any air-fuel mixture setting done when installed? Or should I stick to the stock Spark plug?

What do you think about installing KnN air filter? What are it's pro's and con's

Also, any permanent solution for the front disc problem common in all xtreme's?

                            Thanks in adv
                            Have a riding day

Which Engine oil is most recommended for our bike? I'm thinking of Motul 20W40,
Hero Moto recommends 10W30 oil,but IF you use 20W40,Your engine will be cool, smooth and less vibes. You can try valvoline, yamalube, gulf etc

but could not locate any dealer in Nagpur selling it (even online). So if you have any, please tell me.
                              Sorry,No idea.

Do engine oil supplements work? If yes then which to prefer?
No,Never use them,Just use Engine oil alone. No addictives.

Is Ngk Iridium Spark plug good for our bike and will it need any air-fuel mixture setting done when installed? Or should I stick to the stock Spark plug?
How old is your bike and how many kms clocked on the odo? Replace spark lug and airfilter every 10000kms for best performance.Iridium is not recommended, its waste of money, but NGK G-Power plugs are recommended,They are VFM Product.

What do you think about installing KnN air filter? What are it's pro's and con's
Install only if you are ready to upjet the carburetor. After jetting and K&N you will have very good throttle response.Loss in mileage may also occur.

Also, any permanent solution for the front disc problem common in all xtreme's?
                              What is that problem?

Ride Safe. Enjoy and always wear a helmet.
