    Hi All,

What can be the reason for Excessive Handlebar Vibration, Vibrates too much after certain KMs
I m using Hero Oil as of now, only because of this?

Vibrations on handlebar can be of different reasons. Incorrect tyre pressure, loose or damaged coneset, incorrect fork oil level, incorrect afr, type of engine oil using, wheel allignment etc..
btw How old the bike is? What is the odo reading?

        Hi Jith_in, thanks for replying.
My bike is 13K KM Old. I have this problem right from start, and its getting much worse day by day.
I have used Motul 3100 Oil apart from Hero oil, no improvement. ASC guys said they have replaced Cone set, fork oil, i never believed them. This excessive vibration makes me hate my bike. I always maintain tyre pressure, Front 25 to 27 and Rear 32

Tyre pressure for xtreme is front 29 psi rear 33 psi first check this. Then visit an experienced local mech and ask him to check for any issues i have mentioned. Don't worry this is common for almost all xtreme and i am also facing little vibrations from my handlebar..

Get Veedol take off premium w30 grade , or Gulf pride w30 or Shell AX7 . All are suitable oils which make vibes low. AX7 reduces vibes by 30% i can say as its bit more viscous and thicker. Change fork oil with veedol fork oil . I did all thosr things and mine runs well and smooth , please note almost each xtreme vibes near 4k rpm but beyond 6k its very smooth and pulls very swiftly .

Long time no updates from me as i was busy in cousin brothers marriage. Last week bike had a heavy running as on monday i went to my workplace a distance of 170 kms and on wednesday returned to home a distance of 170 km. The next day went to cuttack for some work a distance of 40 km and then returned to home. In evening went to village to attend cousin brothers marriage which is a distance of 120 km. Was awake the whole night and the next morning returned to bhubaneswar. Before returning to bhubaneswar checked oil in village was low and didn't show up on dipstick. Since village didn't have any good oil shops decided to try my luck and returned to bbsr a distance of 120 kms. There straightway went to my mechanic and asked him to check engine oil. On draining only 100 ml oil came out. I was surprised on seeing this. My mechanic suggested that may be bore has gone, and i didn't believe as my bike is always well maintained. I asked him to open the bore to check whether bore or rings have been fried as if bore is worn then there would have been powerloss and piston slap. On opening the bore the bore was like new with honing marks still present. The piston was also full tight in bore. Then the rings were taken out and tested and the compression rings were checked. Gaps were ok which was no surprise as last night had ripped at 100 kph with two up effortlessly. The rings had slightly loosed its temper. But the oil rings were fried due to heat and bike always running in high rpm. The impression of the expander rings were on the oil rings. Moreover the oil rings in extreme are very thin like paper and also soft. Thinking of going for Goetze rings but settled for OE rings. Then on sunday again went to village. Bike runs like crazy. Will post details with photos later.Last week bike ran a total of 1000 kms.

You must have had big relief when you have seen that just oil rings are a gonner, it was quite intelligent of you to open the cylinder and get the bore checked, if it was somebody else surely he would have been fooled by the mechanic and would have rebored or changed the block. Great Sir.

My mechanic will never fool me as he is like a friend and second thing he knows that if he doesn't agree to my words then i will open the bore at home. Since the previous night i was full awake and had also ridden 120 kms that day so my body was begging to sleep. So gave it to mechanic and after opening bore left it there and went to sleep at home till evening.

I immediately opened the bore as i very well know that todays company give the oil rings very thin and having nil temper in them. If i would have delayed the opening of bore even for some more kilometers then the bore would have gone for sure.

Non tempered and hair thin oil rings, companies are just trying to make as much money as they could from every aspect of the bike, nothing else, mechanic and that too a friend that's good.

This is not the money but something else which we can term as pleasing the masses. Now-a-days every companies are providing softer rings to protect the bore from wearing down faster. Also to decrease the friction in engine rings are being made thinner and less tension in them. It is no surprise that people are ripping new bikes straight out of showroom with no problems. Comparing my Joy's rings they and super hard and have very high tension in them. But in my Joy's manual the running-in instruction are :=For the first 1000 km never exceed 15 kph in 1st gear, 25 kph in 2nd gear, 45 kph in 3rd gear and 60 kph in 4th gear. But in todays bike the running in instruction is simply avoid full throttle operation for first 500 kms and nothing else.

Thanks Jith_in. If i am not wrong , keeping front tyre with 29 psi is not good as it creates woobling atleast in my bike.

Ya will change the oil first, i know Xtreme has vibes, but its tolerable, not like mine which has crazy vibration. Time to do all the stuffs you have mentioned.

Thanks for clearing, but isn't the life of rings are sacrificed by making them thinner and lighter or is it just becuase to give the rider pleasure of ripping and saving companies name by doing so.
