Ya will ask him for fuel strainer and let you know.Originally posted by ashwin.terminator View PostWho said that the springs and pins are not available. In 2011 when the new model was launched there was no mention in parts catalogue but in 2012 they have mentioned it. The part numbers are :-1. 50612-AAB-H70 - arm step right side, the aluminum portion of foot rest, 2. 50661-KVE-860- foot rest rubber, 3. 50617-445-840 = spring step return, 4. 50639-KRY-970- pin step bar, the pin of footrest. So these are the part number and who said that these are not available may not have them in stock and has tried to fool you.Originally posted by jjee97 View PostThis is a common in particular batched of extreme mainly in 2011-12 model that came with Hero Honda batch. Then when Hero came out with only extreme you can see the paint quality is completely different that ours. The said problem is even faced by me and my paint has become dull and rough to touch. This is basically a defect with clear coat as the clear coat is not properly bonded with paint which causes this bluish color when wet. This Mondat will give my bikes tank to may painter who will repair the tank using Sikkens 2k paint and clear coat. will post photo of tank before and after the work.Originally posted by Lokesh027 View PostWho said Hero OE oil looses character after 200-400 km. By the way here Jith_in is right as use of thicker oil grade that too 15 W50 extensively i harmful to engine. Its because almost none of you have opened the engine of extreme. But i have opened not one but two engines. One of my friend who's engine was completely overhauled and mine whose rings were changed. Let me tell my bikes engine and after 35k on odo, when the bore was opened and i inserted piston into bore without rings then let me tell you all that piston went tight with little to none side play. Mind you this is without rings. Compared to that when my mechanic changed the bore of an unicorn, i was surprised to see that the new bore piston has more clearance than my old bore. That is the reason why hero has shifted to 10W 30 grade. But by using 15W 50 grade he has ruined the engine. Check the rocker arm bearing and timing chain. Both would have gone.Originally posted by Jith_in View PostPhoto of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Waiting for your updates regarding the Fuel Strainer and the footpegs sibun.Originally posted by sibun View PostYa will ask him for fuel strainer and let you know.Who said that the springs and pins are not available. And eagerly waiting for the results of the new clear coat. If it isn't too expensive and makes a big difference, will get it done for my bike as well.
Also, some bad news.
The side shield and the rear cowl's screw hole(Where the screw is put and fastened) has broken on both sides.
Don't think it warrants a change, but feels bad.

but sibun, how clearance without piston rings in place can determine the grade of engine-oil to be used?Originally posted by sibun View Post... From what I understand, don't we have to consider ring-tension & quality too.
I'm assuming cylinder-lining is the hottest region in the engine where engine-oil has to perform its duty. Thicker(higher viscosity) oil form thicker film on cylinder-lining, extra work for second piston-ring to scrape it off every time it comes down.
I thought the quality of cylinder-lining & piston rings has significantly improved together with oil-refinery, a thin oil-film is enough to lube the piston motion while extracting maximum power.
I may be wrong though. There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Sibun how much of effect clear coating will make to an 15 or 20 year old paint, my bike petrol tank is also 20 year old although still good, when i wax polish the tank it becomes shiny again but not for too long the glossy shine only remains just for a week i would say and after that it's hazy again, so should the tank be clear coated or repainted again, on the repaint matter i don't have faith in these road side painters, none of the painters have got paint booth they paint a part in open air and with it all of the dust and debris also get painted on to the part, although one has no choice apart from them.

Mine got damaged long before, still going like that. I think its a common problem with Hunk.Originally posted by ashwin.terminator View PostAlso, some bad news.

I presume it's the feeling from first few kms. Share with us the feeling when you cross couple of hundred kms, esp after 1,000 kms.Originally posted by jjee97 View PostExcept smooth engine sound No noise at all. Doesn't felt this before with other 10w30 engine oils. Can you tell me why the same graded different engine oils behaves differently?
What's the difference, Motul-5100 series is imported from France(at least 30% import duty/taxes). We don't have concrete evidence that Motul fairs better than other oils. Only feelings floating around. There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

Since it's a Semi-Synth, 3,000 kms maximum is often advised. However, keep monitoring the oil-level & ride feeling across RPMs & gear shifts.Originally posted by jjee97 View PostOffcourse will share after 1k kms. A mechanic told me that when engine gets older it is good to use thicker grade engine oil than recommended to ensure engine's long life. Is it true?

Checked rocker arm bearing and timing chain at hh asc. Both are fine they said. A mechanic at asc told me that it is good to use higher grade engine oil than recommended in old engines to ensure engine's long life. Is it true? And thanks a lot dada for your precious advice.

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
To an extent yes, its true. Or I'd rather say a 10w40 (or 20w40) oil is best all year around for the kind of hot climate we have in most parts of India. So yes, a 10w40 can safely be used in place of 10w30 especially in India (due to hotter weather) -- infact until a couple of years ago most recommended oils were of 20w40, only recently these manufacturers are pushing 10w30 for better fuel eco/emission control.Originally posted by jjee97 View PostChecked rocker arm bearing and timing chain at hh asc. But do not go above the w40 if your bike is recommended a w30 by manufacturer , and for bikes requiring a xxW50 (15w50/20w50 etc..) stick to it for the entire lifetime of the bike.
The only thing to keep in mind is regular oil change between 2000-3000km , and honestly i feel there is no use of spending a bomb on the synthetic stuff for these puny 150's

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Thanks bro. Yesternight took my bike for a long ride of 300 kms up and down via NH 2. Avg speed was 80-100kmph. Bike was just talking with me. Really you all made my bike so heart touchy. And for the first time I feel so much love for it. Just one thing, while cold starting the engine makes a 'kat kat' noise for not more than 15 seconds and then its gone. Its happening everytime. Whats the reason?

Some few days back, someone here had described this situation of Bluish apperance on tank sides only during rains and then it disappears after drying up.Even I am facing this problem, Is it commom to many? Is it harmful to the paint?
