pick also good though i didnt ride other's bike so cant compare mt bike acceleration.
there is a tak tak + grrr noise coming beneath the speedo (really irritating).
      My bike is still smooth.

experts plz shed some light. one of my friend also facing the similar issue.
Hey bro, check for headlights assembly if any rubber washer not fitted properly, also check for crash guard as it tends to vibrate when engine reaches certain rpm. Mine was same case, i was thinking something is loose inside engine (may be tappets, may be rocker arm etc), but main culprit was crash guard.

Also as said by pinaki da..tappet noise is normal after engine is heated to optimum temperature.

thanks bro. the irritating noises could be resolved by the your suggestions. but my main concern/worry is the engine sound. it is much louder and more bassy.
m cousin rode my bike after a long time he immediately told me about this sound. any other engine internal could make this sound.?

Yes. Tacho on the Xtreme is analog.

Digital tachos somehow don't feel right.

I had a pillion onboard. Both of us together would be around 160kg I think. I couldn't crouch either, as there was a pillion.

Bike managed to reach around 8250 RPM in top gear and was doing 112kmph. What are the odds that if I were single, I could've reach a higher speed? I believe the 75kg lower weight and crouching would definitely aid in reaching a higher top speed? Also, by any chance, is it possible that the big bore needs a bigger main jet to perform better?

Also, I cleaned the slow jet today. I had issues with dismal low end torque and also the bike would occasionally shut off if I blipped the throttle a little bit. Also, one of the screws on the underside of the carb were damaged, as I mentioned earlier. Got it replaced with a minus screw I had lying around at home.
Hi ashwin.terminator, I was just browsing through the hunk thread and saw your post. Have you put in a big bore on your bike? How big is it? I have also put a big bore in my honda dazzler, a 170cc capacity bore. I required an upjet for the bike to run properly. My stock main jet was size 115. I have put in a Karizma main jet of 125 in the carb to upjet. Now the bike is running better.

Let me know what is your big bore size and how your bike is behaving and we will be able to better discuss if you need a carb upjet or not.

                Cheers!

                  Hi,

I have a claimed 165cc bore. And as for the jetting, the Hunk has a stock Main Jet size of 128. :P

I have been unable to find any bigger jets. And if at all, I'll have to order them from jetsrus where the cost of shipping is more than the jet itself! :/

Anyway, as for the big bore. What kind of details do you need?

I don't feel any flat spots as such. The bike pulls neatly enough. Though a solo top speed run is still due. The mileage is terrific, around 50kmpl in Bangalore city conditions. I currently use a 15T front sprocket from the Unicorn to better utilize the additional torque I got from the big bore.

That said, is there any real way to verify the CC or the bores we have? Considering the Dazzler and the Hunk run similar engines, hard to imagine Joel would have different sized ones for different bikes with similar engines.

Also, after cleaning up the Slow Jet, the bike behaves exactly as expected. No random shut off and idling problems.

Aall izz well in Hero Honda Hunk land! :P

Thanks for your reply. I initially had a 180cc bore from joel which seized and then broke free on the highway scoring the cylinder walls. After that Joel put in a 170cc one (that is what he told me). So I think even for same engine block you can indeed have different bore size. That said I have absolutely zero idea on how to verify the claim short of opening the engine and measuring the dimensions with a vernier caliper (which I am not going to do).

My previous jet (115) was pretty lean with a solid flat spot at 6000 rpms. The 125 jet from Karizma seems to have solved that problem though.

If you are not finding any flat spots and if the engine is pulling clean on WOT then I think you are good to go anyway. In case you need bigger jet then Hero Impulse jet is size 132 and you can order it from Hero Central Spares Distribution Center at Kasturba Road (Parshawa Motors).

You are getting fantastic mileage, I get about 42-43 which is the same as I got before getting big bore. But highway ripping kills the mileage completely, I end up getting 34-35 kmpl with constant cruising at 95 kmph.

Any way thanks for the reply!

Ohhh, got it You said that you managed to get 112 km/hr with pillion.

My extreme with solo touches 110+ km/hr (with crouched on tank its 116 km/hr). With pillion i maxed out at 100 km/hr with throttle wide open with below conditions.
                      1. pillion+ me=120 kg
                      2. Engine oil- 1900 km old
                      3. Chain- a bit loosed, slack of 2" ( Now its adjusted as per recommended)
                      4. Little bit of cross winds

How fast hunk/ extreme can go with pillion on the board (wt aprox. 140 kg.)?

Members plz reply..only i am the one who got this speed or everyone getting same.

Guys this is about Hunk's cornering ability, I am sure this hasn't been discussed too much since it's a commuting machine. I have ridden it on track and I felt completely terrible due to terrible lean angle but I have to keep in mind that tyres were stock and almost 3 years old with 15K on the ODO. would be great if owners could post how much lean is possible and what tyres and changes were made to get the max out of the ride.

I haven't ridden my Hunk on track, and don't do much cornering But felt it to be good handler.
Remember reading in an old review of Xtreme in a major auto magazine that it handled like a sports bike.
AFAIK, Hunk shares the same chassis of Xtreme, so shouldn't be bad.
May be the stock tires are the culprit.
Between, in which track did you ride your bike?

it should go more. i have ridden till 105kmph with pillion. it was not a top speed test attempt, but just a thought came to drive faster.
there was a good throttle left and my bike just touched 105 but could give more because of traffic.

the Triple digit was attained very quickly but post 100 it climbed one by one.

                            Me: 82Kg
                            Pillion: 80kg.

so iam sure your bike can do better. And i have read in an article that in 150CC segment, Hunk (they used Hunk but more or less the same goes with CBZ ) bike is the only one to achieve 110+kmph with pillion (ofcourse excluding CBR/R15).

Afaik, no one has calculated the lean angle in Hunk. but it cannot do much of cornering like R15 due to obvious reason. it has got less rigid frame (the school boy - single cradle). but upsizing the rear tyre would help but aspect ration must be very low. otherwise there is no use in upsizing the tyre. max 120 section can be accommodated. also you can set the rear suspension to stiffer setting which you will feel much more in control but your back will hurt like hell in bad roads.

Though in corners it may not be an expert, but it requires shorter turning radius which helps a lot in city ride.

since you have gone to track, i hope you are familiar with some of the basic cornering techniques as well.

Xtreme is a good bike. more reliable engine and gives 50+ mileage if you maintain it well. No doubt on performance.

But i would suggest to wait for a month or so, because Xtreme sports gonna launch with more power and looks aggressive compared to current model.

for people who are not tall enough may find it little uncomfortable in handling.
