I own a 2007 CBZ Xtreme, have done just over 60000 KM and I take it for service to Hero service center only. Of late I am having a lot of problems with my bike and nobody in the service center is aware of it.
1. Noise in 3rd gear - sounds like a chainsaw is running along with the engine
2. Over the speeds of 55 the bike stutters, feels like it is on reserve
3. Bike slows down while climbing an incline despite on full throtle - like a flyover

Wanted to check with a local mechanic before I took it back to the Hero service center, and he said the engine needs to be reworked. Has someone faced a similar issue ?
Any help is appreciated.
Sorry once again if this is the wrong place to ask the question.
Seen this 3rd gear issue with many Xtremes/Hunks. Even my Hunk has it. When my engine was opened, i could see the gear wheels with dents on the teeth. You can see the details in the below link. I couldn't source the gear wheels that time, so living with the issue even now
I believe, yours is also the same issue.

Check if your engine is in good condition. Do you see any reduction in engine oil level after say 500 kms? Any smoke from exhaust on revving hard? Do you see oil deposit on silencer tip?
Also, check if your clutch is healthy. Do you feel that engine RPM is raised on giving throttle, but speedo needle climbs slowly?

Here goes my detailed vibration report:
Model: Hero Hunk 2014, Odo: 13,200 kms, Engine Oil: 10w30
Maintenance: Regularly serviced and oil changed @1000kms interval, Chain cleaned and lubed by myself, Tappet adjusted using feeler gauge, New spark plug & Airfilter changed @9000kms.
Condition: Never met any accident.

Recently came back from 600 kms tour in 3days.
4K - 6K RPM = Petrol tank, handlebar and footpegs starts vibrating mildly (Very much noticeable when cruising @highway)
6K - 7K RPM = Vibration level is intense in whole body. Rear footpeg vibrates like crazy which is very uncomfortable for pillion(Highway cruising is not comfortable at all, hands and legs become numb)
7K - 7.5K RPM = Petrol tank vibration goes away, but handlebar and footpeg vibration exists (Only cruising at this speed is marginally comfortable)
7.5K - till redline = Heavy vibration everywhere, not possible at all to ride at this range of RPM for a longer time.
I am sure that vibrations are coming from the engine.

waiting for XBHPians suggestions.

This is a perfect sign for air filter clog.

Did some googling, and it seems debris dont travel back up the brake lines. So I would say moisture is still the likely culprit.

Thank you for the details,
I change the oil every 2000 KM, I use Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W-40, no reduction (dip stick). No smoke from exhaust on revving, and no oil deposit on silencer.
I am taking it out for a service to a local mechanic just like you did. He's quoting 6K for the repairs.

What are the things i should take care of or inspect while buying a secondhand?

First of all Xtreme/Hunk series needs a little bit more care than Splendor/Passion series of bikes.
Be prepared for mileage between 40-50 depending on your riding style.

Inspect the bike during day time. Get your trusted mechanic with you if possible.
Don't be ashamed to ask the current owner for a test ride of couple of kms.
Check electricals, if all switches/horn and lights working fine.
Rev the engine in neutral to say 5k RPM and see for any smoke from exhaust. Check the exhaust tip for any oil/thick black deposits. If there is smoke or oil on exhaust tip, then engine is most probably in bad condition and would need repair.
Ride in all gears and see for noise in any particular gear. Hunk/Xtreme's 3rd gear used to develop issues, not sure if it happens in new bikes.
Check for rust especially in swing arm bottom.
If ride quality is bad, and if you see any leak in rear shocks, you would need to replace them, which costs around 4k for a pair.
Check alloys for bent by rotating wheels, they are costly too.

This is what that comes to my mind now, hope this helps

P.S: I was in same situation like you before 3 years. I bought a used Hunk (2008 model) and missed to take note of couple of things I mentioned above
The bike is still with me and I love it.

Hello friends, visiting thread after long time ShahriarXtreme & ShahriarXtreme
Guys it seem to be like its general behavior of hunk, extremes. The things shared by ShahriarXtreme is happened with me also. Post 80 km/hrs, pillions will beg to slow down as footrest vibrates like hell. So what i did is asked my pillion to put foot on silencer cover & keep some heavy loads ( bags etc) on saree guard side footrest so vibrations are minimized. I had installed karizma`s bar end weights so lately i am not facing any vibrations on handle. If you ride bike at higher speed 100+ for long time & then come down to 50-60, you will feel bike butter smooth.
Also what i observed is if bike is properly warmed up for 3-4 minutes & ridden like run in period for some 5-6 kms, she will ride smooth with smooth gear shifts all the day. If not properly warmed up, then i guess its a day i feel why i am riding this bike..:P. So overall m habituating myself with xtreme`s behaviour. sibun..Whenever i try gaining maximum speed, my bike make some weird sound, like engine going to burst. My tappets makes some noise when hot, sometimes it don`t make noise. Should i get my tappets adjusted? help me.

It should not be a general behaviour of Hunk/Xtreme. Because not even apache vibrates like this......pulsar (2011 and above) also doesnt vibrate at all.....trigger/fz/gixxer all are very much vibration free. Recently i had rides with few Hero Honda Hunk and CBZ's and yes they were completely vibration free except for slight footpeg vibration near the redline.
But the thing is I also had a ride with many Only HERO hunk's and all of them vibrates like hell starting right from 3.5K prm till forever. So what shall i guess Honda gone quality gone

I have 2011 model xtreme. It has slight vibrations only in 4 k rpm which is due to resonance of engine frequency. After 5 k engine is butter smooth and punchy accelerates like a turbo engine. No vibrations till redline. only little vibrations in foot pegs on redlining. So the bike is not the problem. It is the service centers ruining the bike.

+ 1, i have same model bike and i have mild vibrations in 4k rpm and after that its smooth, key here is maintaining bike in stock like condition, set tappets at. 06 and. 1, tune carb for perfect AFR and some other general stuff.
Also driving bike at high rpm for 20-30kms will burn off carbon and bike will feel superb after that.
I am in this community since i bought my bike and touchwood it always served me well.
Carb Tuning made easy (Thanks Sibun !)
