Joel should have either put spacers or bend the welded part away from the swingarm
    Hi ariendji,

Thanks for your good review regarding latest gen FFE.

It would be great if you put up some good pics highlighting the oil drain nut, main stand issue, swing arm issue and brake cable problem.

I'm more hungry for this mod but reluctant to upgrade because of small niggles like what yu mentioned as well as rusting issue since I don't have much time to sort out if some issue arises. More over I really like the gigantic muffler (I mean the design) at the tail of stock exhaust. Hence in a dilemma.

At the end of the day I'm power hungry still!

    Thanks in advance.

the adjustment nut is just a nut. When you use the tool to rotate it increasing or decreasing the preload on the spring, missing paint is nothing to worry about, Leaking shock however will be more of a worry.

I thought the ver2 exhaust had this issue with the center stand sorted out. Never heard about the hitting the swingarm, Only the center stand hitting it (Note the original exh was designed with no center stand as it was for a race bike)
This exhaust is great but it is still not 100%
You can bolt on a Yoshimura or Leo Vince and you know you will never have these problems. Why can't JJ's exhaust be like these?

        .
Take a look at the alternatives out there. There is a handful of exhaust makers now making exhausts for the Fz platform. The Leo Vince Cobra is one fantastic looking muffler, Just needs to be made of carbon for better heat insulation (you can touch/hold my carbon yoshi after riding the bike hard) Try doing that with the stainless/titanium/chrome plated finishes.

        • Hi ariendj,

Please let us know what mod it is once it is done. i too would like to get it done.. recently i got my ride fitted with RC FFE.. Brake liner touching the exhaust seems to be a minor thing.. not an issue though..

          Thanks,

          • after initiating an explosive debate in this thread.....here i am again..... posting my "silly" doubts....

OK back to my point.....after my 1st servicing i m experiencing a few changes.....

            1. my mileage returned was 50+ this time - which is in a way good for me...

            2. the throttle response is high.....i mean i dnt know how to explain...... even in the slightest of throttling it gallops like a horse....(bit exaggeration!!)....and when released bikes speed to reduces significantly....!! - why so??

            3. while ignition i need to give 2-3 push/kick......earlier one push, and she is alive...!! - any relation of this with the 2nd problem?

              1) Good for you.

              2) Even my bike behaves the same way, I'm not sure why this happens, My guess is the chain might be too dry, and as you mentioned you had given for a service, it probably went dry whilst cleaning, also Mumbai rain's are partly to blame too, Try lubricating it.

              3) No relation to the second one, the kickstarter usually engages another small idler gear which is meshed with the large gear on the clutch basket, 2-3 attempts is completely normal.

              • Hello all. Completed 39000 kms today. My Fazer is now 1 year 1 month and 6 days old. I think my bike did great till now. The only parts that were replaced or changed in this time were chain and sprockets, fork oil and oil seals and cone assembly and 2 punctures.

Also to mention I reverted to stock exhaust from Joel's FFE due to severe rusting issue till I got it chrome plated. Except for that I enjoyed every second while i rode with Joel's exhaust on.

After going through about overhauling I decided to change the following parts and the performance did go down a bit.

Fork oil and oil seals, cone assembly, clutch plates, get the carburetor cleaned and rejetted, and also the headlight stay which was slightly bent due to a small mishap (I was looking at a girl instead of the auto rikshaw in front of me). I have also bought both the tyres and will have them fitted during service.

I want to know if anything else needs to be looked into

And also to mention I got both tyres for a good bargain of 5100/-(front rs2800/- and rear Rs2300/-, both OE.)

                • my bodykit is finally completed.
                  All painted up.
Also got my rear disc fitted.
33mm Keihin Airstriker carb arrived. Installed and given a final tune. The needle was too "fat" on the borrowed carb, My new carb and needle arrived, installed and tuned.

Sadly it will be 2weeks before I can see and ride my bike as I'm on a Semi Sub drilling rig off the south of Australia.

                  • hi, my new fz-s' gearshift is too loud, and the rear brake is too loose..i've had them both fixed from the svc twice..but both times, it wore off too quickly (3 days max) is this a common problem?

I think I also have some similar problems reported on this forum (chain slack etc), but the one bothering me very much is that no matter whatever gear I am in, it is very sluggish and does not give me a smooth acceleration. Kinda feeling you get when the petrol is just about to get over and you will have to move to reserve (or if you have forgot to turn the fuel gauge on).

Is this something to do with the carburetor? It is just 1 week old with only 130 KM on it.

                      Any inputs would be awesome....

                      I love the stability though...
Dude, i am facing the same engine roughness issue which you have mentioned above but mine occurs at times during a long ride and gets resolved if i halt the bike for few minutes.Engine roughness results in vibration and stuttering acceleration, My chain has started to rust not sure whether i am facing engine roughness issue due to that. I have ridden 1000km on it and its 2months old .If there is any resolution for this please let me know

yes buddy....they lubricated the chain......i guess it has somethng to do with the rpm......coz when i reached the SVC and parked the main head mechanic guy came nd started the bike....at that time the idle RPM was very high...around 3k....he did smthng near the engine and in a sec the rpm went down to 1.5k....now the behaviour of engine is really bothering me...

bro have you changed you oil??? check in the oil filter and oil level also..I mean engine oil.....and one more thing pour only the engine oil recommended by Yamaha for initial 5k kms ...then you can shift to semi synthetic or so.....
this is the rainy season you should clean your chain every 500-700kms....so do use the chain clean and chain lube.....buy one and DIY....

From your bike's pic in your avatar, If the leg guard is having that rain guard too.. Remove that as it blocks air flow to the fins. Its an air-cooled engine!

I dont think it has anything to do with your present problems.

                              Idle is around 1000 - 1500RPM.
Its a simple screw. Don't worry about it, Unless your engine is not idling smooth.

Whats this new behavior that is bothering you?

Thanks dude for replying. Yea I changed oil during my first service(500kms) and now i have ridden another 500kms and going to leave it in yamaha svc next week. I will change oil once again and will ask him to do a chain service as well. Hope this will resolve the issue.
