Hi guys, I am from Bangalore, and gonna purchase a ride within 2 weeks. But I'm in great confusion since it would be my first bike. One of my friends suggested FZ-S, I admit that it is a good ride. But my dad emphasizes on mileage, so if any owns a 2012 fz model can you post your mileage in city (esp. Bangalore) and help me.

Unfortunately, Mumbai's stupid weather accelerates rusting both in chains and some of the visible parts. I would definitely give negative marks to Yamaha in this regard for poor painting of the bike's chassis. Especially in the hinges and the edges there is definitely half hearted job done just like Luke had ponted out earlier in this thread (A lot of pages ago!!).Originally posted by vimal_hbk View Postguys i can see rust at some place of my bike....is there any solvent to remove these rust spots?
Anyways the best way to get rid of the rust is liberal use of WD 40/Zorrik 88 rust removing spray. You should be able to purchase it from any local car/truck spare parts shop.

Bro mileage depends mostly on riding style i.e the more you are opening the throttle the more fuel will be consumed and less mileage. FZ-S/FZ16/Fazer all have an avg mileage of 40 kmpl and variations based on riding style/traffic/maintenance/tyre pressure, etc.Originally posted by Rakesh.P View PostHi guys, I am from Bangalore, and gonna purchase a ride within 2 weeks. Apart from mileage FZ-S is indeed a superb bike in 150cc category in terms of style (derived from fz1), engine reliability, smoothness, cornering, braking, handling, rider comfort, etc. You can't get the balance of all these in any other bike. For ex: Honda Unicorn has a great refined engine and good mileage figure but it lacks in every other dept.2009 Yamaha FZ-S

Yeah I am aware of that I just wanted to ask coz the dealer said that some modification has been done to the 2012 models and that they give atleast an additional 5kmpl if thats the case I can convince my dad. So I just need to know whether the dealer was right about the extra FE.Originally posted by gn.times View PostBro mileage depends mostly on riding style i.e the more you are opening the throttle the more fuel will be consumed and less mileage. I'm in Bangalore, my 2012 model fazer gives a mileage of about 35kmpl in the city and 37-40kmpl on highways. Its just 3months and 2440km old. 2nd service not done yet.Originally posted by Rakesh.P View PostHi guys, I am from Bangalore, and gonna purchase a ride within 2 weeks. However mileage depends a lot on driving style among other things as explained by gn.times below.
I totally agree to that.Originally posted by gn.times View PostBro mileage depends mostly on riding style i.e the more you are opening the throttle the more fuel will be consumed and less mileage. The Fz/Fazer is a great bike from Yamaha. gn.times counted all the great aspects of this bike which make it a bliss to ride. Unfortunately mileage is not one of its stronger points considering its power, that awesome rear tyre etc. So you should consider all these aspects. However if mileage is your top priority then we'd suggest you check with other bikes also. However you should take a test ride of the bikes before you decide. All the best!!

The main difference in 2012 model I hope is 2 throttle cables: 1 to open and 1 to close the throttle. The main advantage is quick response for throttle action and more comfort since it doesn't rely on springs to open and close throttle unlike in former models. I don't think it will increase the mileage by 5kmpl.Originally posted by Rakesh.P View PostYeah I am aware of that I just wanted to ask coz the dealer said that some modification has been done to the 2012 models and that they give atleast an additional 5kmpl if thats the case I can convince my dad. I'm not aware of other changes. I request 2012 fz owners to help Rakesh.P regarding the increase in mileage figure and other modifications.2009 Yamaha FZ-S

When you open the throttle and let go of it, the throttle must self close.2013 Ducati M795 with a few mods in here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/superbik...95-owners.html

Hey Man if you are mileage hungry then surely you need to look at some other bikes. Honda bikes like Unicorn, CBZ extreme and Hunk are great at mileage and performance. I'm 2012 owner of FZ-16 (July) and I have ridden this bike in both ripping and sane mode and I'll tell you the mileage is between 39-43 km/l and that's the range. SVC guys simply telling you will get 45-50 km/l but I don't think that's gonna happen. If you just want to ride the bike sanely then you need to choose the Honda ones and you won't regret buying them. What you get from FZ is butter smooth gear shifting, Great cornering, and Initial pickup. If you are ok with 40km/l mileage then surely you will get that with half ripping and half sane riding.Originally posted by Rakesh.P View PostHi guys, I am from Bangalore, and gonna purchase a ride within 2 weeks.
