Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Thanks bro for the suggestion .. i also saw sr motorworlds video.. he upgraded to the motul 300v 15w50 after getting fed up of the noise.. i too am very irritated with the noise.. initially the noise is low but audible.. but as soon as the engine gets heated it gets very pronounced.. there seems to be no issue with the performance though but the noises don't seem normal to me .. when i met the engineer he said we will need to open the part which is making the noise i.e. the part above the engine.. he said it is his friendly advice not to open those parts as the bike is new.. my issue is since this is a new bike why does it require opening up of such critical parts which usually don't need any tinkering.. this is the reason i am thinking of sending them a legal notice because i dont want my new bike to be opened.. if i persist them to fix.. they will say okay we'll repair your bike.. and open the engine.. i already visited the SVC like 8 to 10 times for the 3 services I have done.. Yamaha also doesn't seem to be serious about my issues.. once a mechanic in the SVC said your bike sounds normal.. and made me listen to another fz which i think was there for its 1st or 2nd service.. when he revved.. it felt like it was also making the same kirr kirr noise from the same area.. but i didnt ride it.. just revved stand still.. not sure what is wrong with my bike.. really disappointed with yamaha and their after sales serviceOriginally posted by #bpk View PostBajaj Pulsar 180 - 2007 to 2015

Try filing in a fully synthetic good 10w40 oil. I.e. motul 7100. I use the same on my fzs fi v2. It makes the bike exceptionally smooth. Or if u r skeptical about putting in non Yamaha lubes then in next service opt for R15 engine oil of Yamaha even that should be able to make you feel the difference. Take your pick.Originally posted by vanp View Postस्वभावो नोपदेशेन शक्यते कर्तुमन्यथा !

It's very sad ! I too faced many problems in my new hornet, after complaining online they listened to me.Originally posted by vanp View PostThanks bro for the suggestion .. i also saw sr motorworlds video.. he upgraded to the motul 300v 15w50 after getting fed up of the noise.. i too am very irritated with the noise.. initially the noise is low but audible.. but as soon as the engine gets heated it gets very pronounced.. there seems to be no issue with the performance though but the noises don't seem normal to me .. when i met the engineer he said we will need to open the part which is making the noise i.e. the part above the engine.. he said it is his friendly advice not to open those parts as the bike is new.. my issue is since this is a new bike why does it require opening up of such critical parts which usually don't need any tinkering.. this is the reason i am thinking of sending them a legal notice because i dont want my new bike to be opened.. if i persist them to fix.. they will say okay we'll repair your bike.. and open the engine.. i already visited the SVC like 8 to 10 times for the 3 services I have done.. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
okay bro i think i should give yamaha fully synthetic a try.. though personally I would also choose motul but i couldn't risk my warranty at this point.. i had opted for the 5 year warranty plan while buying the bike.. hope switching engine oil reduces the noise to acceptable levels..Originally posted by S3maphor3 View PostTry filing in a fully synthetic good 10w40 oil. Yes bro the SVC people don't agree with me that my bike is making an abnormal noise.. as per them my bike is normal until it breaks down in the middle of the road.. btw where did you complain? the customer care or the consumer complaint portal?Originally posted by #bpk View PostIt's very sad ! Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Even mine is in 5 yrs warranty. About to complete 1. Warranty isn't void if u use recommended grade. 10w40 in our case. U may verify the same from manual.Originally posted by vanp View Postokay bro i think i should give yamaha fully synthetic a try.. though personally I would also choose motul but i couldn't risk my warranty at this point.. i had opted for the 5 year warranty plan while buying the bike.. hope switching engine oil reduces the noise to acceptable levels..

1. There is a kirr kirr or maybe tarr tarr kind of noise from around the right hand side of the bike. Feels like coming from the area above the engine. Not sure what it is called but I think from where it sucks air. First I thought this was tappet noise so I got it adjusted during my 3rd service. But the noise is still there and it is very audible and irritating. I showed this to the SVC many times and they say this is normal. This wasn't there when my bike was new. At around 1000kms this noise started and it gets worse when the bike gets heated. I even showed this to the Yamaha engineer and he said it is timing chain or I am not sure cam shaft noise and we'll have to open that part and fix. He said since your bike is performing fine, there is no need to do this. But I get very irritated when I ride as it doesn't feel normal to me. This type of noise comes from very old bikes.
2. There is a whining noise from the bike when it reaches 45kmph. First I thought this might be chain noise. So I cleaned and lubed the chain but the noise seems to have increased.
I have done all the services on time and these issues started after the first service. I have complained many times to the SVC and even wrote emails and called Yamaha customer care. They just say visit the SVC or schedule a meeting with the engineer. But everytime I go there they just say this is normal and all is in your head. I feel like I am riding an old 1lac kms done bike everytime I take my bike out.
Guys I want your opinion and expertise since you have experience with the bike. I am thinking of taking legal action against Yamaha and their SVC as I am tired of complaining them again and again and I didn't pay for this.
I'd also suggest you to try using the Yamaha Fully synthetic oil. And try to change the Timing Chain Tensioner as well, I am positive that you would feel the change after changing the Timing Chain Tensioner as it also becomes a culprit in making noise of Timing chain when it gets expanded and when the tensioner does not work properly.
(It usually happens when we don't do the first 1000 Kms break in properly)
From where do you get the whining noise? Front or back? Is it coming from near the tyre area?

i think manual recommends Yamalube as the brandOriginally posted by S3maphor3 View PostEven mine is in 5 yrs warranty. About to complete 1. Warranty isn't void if u use recommended grade. 10w40 in our case. U may verify the same from manual.
bro I followed the break in process very religiously .. I have noted down your suggestion related to timing chain tensioner .. if changing the oil doesn't solve my issue .. i'll see the timing chain tensioner thenOriginally posted by rajanduggal View PostI'd also suggest you to try using the Yamaha Fully synthetic oil. for a few months i kept on thinking that the noise is coming from the chain or the rear wheel .. then a few days ago I cleaned and lubed the chain properly but the noise still persisted .. then last week while riding i leaned forward towards the meter console to see if the noise is coming from the front and i felt like it was coming from the front of the bike .. i think maybe the front wheel because when I rev while the bike is stand still and listen to the console .. it doesn't make any sound ..Bajaj Pulsar 180 - 2007 to 2015

I guess company is specific about the Oil grade as well so I'd suggest you to read the manual carefully and check this with the service center Manager (specially) before changing the Engine oil.
And, I'd suggest you to check the Timing chain tensioner first before changing the Engine oil during the service period. You can also change it yourself just be careful with the bolts while tightening them and don't forget to put a new Gasket while putting it back. You can ask your friend and try to replace the tensioner with his motorcycle if his is working fine.

If the noise is coming from the front wheel's side then I'd suggest you to check the Disk plate and disk pads once. Let someone sit on the rear seat when the bike is on the main stand and try to spin the front wheel and observe from where the noise is exactly coming. and check the front mudguard as well. Hope this helps.

I can relate with you bro .. our pain and irritation the companies can't understandOriginally posted by #bpk View PostI complained to honda customer care and also showed my bike to a good svc, which is about 160 km from my home
I think Yamaha customer care are actually not serious about customer issues .. they have only 1 suggestion .. go to SVC or show to engineer .. i even asked them once that refer me to your best SVC .. so they said as per them all of their SVCs are equally good .. do you any of you guys know a good SVC in Delhi NCR?Bajaj Pulsar 180 - 2007 to 2015

And if u read service manual carefully then Yamaha insists on only oil grade and not oil brand. U may confirm same from customer care or refer to ur manual or may b when I hv some time to kill , will post a pic from manual.Originally posted by vanp View PostThanks for the suggestion bro ..
