Amaron MF batteries are real good. I got one 2.5aH for my older kick start only bike&its been working great since almost a year now.Originally posted by dude_phenom View Post+1 to what kinshuk said. I've never used Amaron personally, but I've read good reviews about it. Their maintenance free battery is supposed to be good. Bosch and Exide are good alternatives too.
R15 has Nissin brakes. But I honestly dont understand why Yamaha didnt put Bosch batteries in the first place. They got their brakes after all.
Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postmay be because they got a better deal from minda which helped them reduce the cost of the bike by couple of hundreds...R15 initial lots came with Tata Green batteries, now coming with Minda. Both are MF batteries, 12V, 3.5aH type. Surprised most of us that a puny 3.5aH battery can power up 2 pilot lamps, 2 35W headlamps, tail lamp+ECU for the Fi system+radiator fan! But it has never failed me in the last 2.5 years, touchwood.Originally posted by dude_phenom View PostDamn. They should've bargained better

ANYBODY??? comments??Originally posted by hemantbetala View PostHii....
I got my Fazer s 2nd service done today... on1222 kms...
This time I opted for 15-50 W Yamahalube Semi Synth Engine Oil...Rs,415
But unlike after my 1st service (230) I don feel any change in d smoothness...
Last time (after 1st service,) I could really feel the smoothness,,, after changing the engine oil...
Y is itt so?? Or is it gonna take some time (few km s of run) as this time the oil is differnt..............
2.Another thing is tt the Head Of workshop suggested me to remove the engine plate (one which was added by me after the purchase to prevent the engine from dirt and water...
He told tat Yamaha bikes has an aerodynamic design to collect the cool air and send it to the base of the engine,,, while the plate blocks it.. So in this way THERE WILL BE AN INCREASE IN THE ENGINE SOUND...
Is it so????

First question, Can you elaborate on what is not smooth, the gear shift or the acceleration or the ride itself.Originally posted by hemantbetala View PostANYBODY??? comments??
As for the engine oil being a xxW50 that debate has'nt been concluded on whether it is safe for the bikes or not. I personally would'nt put it for my bike as my service manual says 20W40 (and I've been using Agip FS W40 oil so far and no probs). So I do not know if that is the problem or not. Some one using xxW50 oil cant comment probably.
As for the 2nd question, I didnt understand what u meant by engine plate. May be a picture would be of help. Is it like the one on the Apaches??
As long as it doesnt obstruct air flow to your engine (meaning between the air scoops and the engine fins) I dont it being a problem. But if it is the engine will be running hot, but I dont know what noise will that make.
I hope this was helpful.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

Bosch is a very good brand and i swear by it. However i am not sure if they have maintainence free batteries for bikes. please check it.
You can also look for amaron and do go for maintainence free battery. If i am not wrong they have a 36 month warranty or something on those.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

Bosch and Exide MF batteries got 18 months warranty and Amaron MF got 60 months warranty (of which only 24 months replacement and rest 36 months pro-rata warranty).Originally posted by shv18 View PostBosch is a very good brand and i swear by it. I would like to add, Amaron comes in two types-Alpha&Beta, the Beta Series comes with 48 month warranty, and Alpha as you said, is 60 months.Originally posted by deville_56 View PostBosch and Exide MF batteries got 18 months warranty and Amaron MF got 60 months warranty (of which only 24 months replacement and rest 36 months pro-rata warranty).Quench my thirst with gasoline!
