As per my conversation with Joel Anna, The following upgrades would be made available by him:

    1) Free Flow Exhaust: which is a bolt on replacement performance exhaust with removable db(Decibel) killer (when running around city and cops).

    2) 180cc bigbore kit: will be done by modifying the existing block and also modify the cylinder head along with racing piston which he has assured me will last more than stock.

i have already read enough in other Joeled happy bike owners' threads so i am more than confident about his set up's reliability!

    3) Cylinder head upgrade: will include upgrading the cylinder port and other customisations to enhance volumetric efficiency.

    4) Performance Carburetor: a 29mm CV carburetor with proper jetting.

    5) Performance Filter: a freeflow air filter to put cherry on the top .

According to his estimates, there will be a good boost of the horses to at least 5 bhp (Thats 14 BHP+ 5 BHP = 19 BHP!!). But knowing him undermining his work as always, i am expecting a bigger bump in the bike's already good low end grunt and a much higher top end speed.

Surprisingly, a lot of guys who have gone ahead with Joel's mods have got an incredible amount of increase in their bike's mileage!!

i am going ahead with this upgrade and will do a crazy relay trip all the way from Mumbai to Bengaluru on stock bike and return on me Joeled FZ... all in all a 2000+kms journey..

I guess i can then provide you all a genuine report on the performance, set up's reliability and actual gains part after the trip for the heart transplant is complete!

now just waiting for Joel to come back, get my leaves approved hopefully in 2 -3 month's time along with the monies!!

and BTW all these goodies are at a fraction of a cost of the Daytona kit which makes your wallet lighter by 36k plus... (OUCH!!)

@mitz: If you are planning on the same line as i am let me know.. probably can hit the Anna's secret underground layer together...

    will keep you all posted

    Cheers

    :O :O :O

thats all i have to say :O

btw guys my bike is misfiring a lot ..... some times its almost every gear shift and also i am getting an average mileage of 36 km/litre is it bad?
and also there is countinues noice coming from the front break as if the break pads are rubbing i asked the service centre people they said its normal !

    • after my accident the console had to be changed. now the fuel meter has gone fully kaput. Even with 500rs worth petrol in it, it keeps blinking

I will assure one thing to all the FZ owners here.
My upgrades will be ready in a month.
      The goodies will be,
Free flow exhaust system - will give gains well over 10% with a decent nearly 10% bump in fuel efficiency (will be ready in 3-4 weeks) with DB cutter for street use. You can remove the db cutter for full performance when outside limits.
180cc bigbore block - will give over 15% bump in power and a very good bump in fuel efficiency.
CDI, larger carb, head upgrade, stock replacement airfilter etc will follow soon.

I will probably build a showcase FZ to showcase the full potential of the FZ in terms of performance.

I have indeed already worked on an FZ engine already (quite radical) and that guy is quietly having fun without updating anywhere on the world wide web . Fuel efficiency went up from 28-30kmpl to 40kmpl and performance was good enough to whoop an RTR 180.

Will indeed keep you all posted.
My brand - "Race Concepts" will have the entire line-up for the FZ-16/fazer-16

      Joel
I've started saving for this hopefully in 3-4 months time i'll be able to get my FZ joeled.

I'll be definitely in touch with you all throughout bro.. Infact just spoke yesterday with my close friend (who also has a FZ) & told him about the soon to be launched upgrade goodies by Joel Anna (& one of the mumbai Xbhpian i.e YOU going for all upgrades)
& after the converation even my friend was equally interested.

So we'll be in touch, when you will actually set out for the trip to bengaluru & I might as well accompany you (if the schedule permits) I wont be able to get the entire upgrade done but FFE & Carb upgrades are definitely on my list.

PS: Undoubtedly Joel's engine/carb upgrades as good as or even better in reliability as compared to stock (as read in all reviews) I'm not planning for those just for a simple reason i.e my FZ is already 15 k on ODO & I'm due for an upgrade soon (maybe by end of 2011)so dont wanna end up spending too much on all those goodies (I just wish Joel had brought out them by 2010).
Nevertheless, I'll be desperately looking forward to a review of your completely JOELED bike & then if it justifies my needs, I will undoubtedly go for all those upgrades & continue with my FZ for atleast a couple of more years.

the prob of the fuel meter is because of a loose connection.. nothing much to worry about. wat u need to do is look under the petrol tank towards right side near the seat, u ill find a green connector from the outside. its something a click connection.. just remove press it hard and check ur meter. if its not working, then keep it a bit loose..isnce its a clickable connector, dont worry, the connection will not get disconnect.

@mitz: 'Hey, i feel you should consider the big bore kit and the FFE aalong with carb on stage 1 mod rather than just the carb upgrade if you are looking at a similar touring set up as i am. i believe you've already had enough no. of conversations with Joel regarding the set up. Pricing wise Joel Anna's mods are really affordable. just check with him stage wise, which one would be a better way to go.

i am going ahead with the full upgrade (excluding the cdi upgrade & race camshaft) as it is not possible for me to do back and forth to blore every now and then. And also pricing wise it is just too too good to let go on the 1st round only!

i can't comment about your decision to upgrade to a newer bike. As far as my feeling goes if you do go ahead with the 180 cc big bore kit upgrade, you may end up changing your mind for a while! .'

guys, i am sharing this conversation over this thread hoping that this info may be helpful to others who are thinking about upgrades.

Take your bike to svc and check the spark plug. if the colour is too dark then my guess, probably your bike's carburetor is on rich A/F setting presuming your bike has not already done 12000 kms.

Check your plug, most likely you will be able to run some more.Im running on my stock @ 15k on my ODO.and forget about Iridium Plugs, they dont do much good, just get the usual ones.Air Filter...get it changed, its a very dusty environment we run in anyway.

Yes you are right bro I had my own share of email conversations with Joel some time ago when there was no update from Joel about all these upgrades for FZ. So I had just discussed about FFE with him & pretty staisfied with the affordability.
But I would consider your advice for the big bore kit as well. True, I expect not to upgrade to any other bike after the 1st phase upgrades as you have mentioned & I do have the similar touring requirements only, no drags, no sprints, just want effortless cruising at around 120 kmph without stressing the engine as much as we have to now. Fuel efficiency is an added advantage which is like cherry on cake.
