3 Days and 700km. The place I bought the bike from was 280km away from home. the next day i had to go to the showroom again to rectify some problems such as the rear tire was not aligned properly, chain was too tight, front brake pads were rubbing against the disc and making noise, front forks were not properly aligned, and I had to argue a lot and force them to rectify all the problems and it took about 7 hours for them to set the bike perfectly. I am a stubborn person, so I know how to make them work. I sat with the mechanic the whole time. Now it is working fine. And also I ride to office and back to home a total of 94 km daily on week days, and on saturday a casual ride of another 100km along with that 94.Originally posted by yamahafazer View PostBreaklessBiker

..you really are making use of the "touring spirit" :P
Some people had done this for 10k..but found barely any difference in braking..so it's a waste of cash IMOOriginally posted by surampudijagadeesh View PostI wish to upgrade to a rear disc when i do the big bore. If someone could share their knowledge regarding this, it would be great. I owned an rtr160 prior to fazer and had become used to the rear discs. The drum on fazer feels unsatisfactory to me.
If you really want to do it look up Prakash Kunte..he does it for 7k I think
Here is a link I think it was already posted by someone..found it on google

There are a lot ppl who have mounted a disk on the rear wheel, but none prove to help..
The one mentioned in the above link is from the p220... I guess there is no disk assembly that can manage to stop the heavy rear wheel, you should probably try the ones from R15 or the ninja if you can

1821 kms.. it has already rolled enough.. time to open her up... if you ride too judiciously you are actually screwing up the engine.. at times the engine does need a bit of thrashing.. trust me it works... provided the maintenance is taken care of...Originally posted by yamahafazer View PostJust 1821 km on the ODO even after 1.75 years .
Its needs to run a bit more and then as its rolling I will ride it as it is supposed to be :-D
I just have a good strong helmet which I always wear while riding the bike and nothing else.Last edited by shv18; 09-15-2011, 02:15 AM.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

I travel a lot daily because I dont like the town I work at. And the showroom I bought from had the only fazer that day, all others were waiting for stock to arrive. I took the delivery in 3 hours, no booking or nothing.Originally posted by yamahafazer View PostWhat ? Your showroom is 280 Km away from your home ! :-O

I have traveling the same distance or more daily for the last three yearsBreaklessBiker

Its not that 140/60 is prone to punctures. I faced a lot with my old tyre but with the new one I haven't faced even one till date (touchwoodOriginally posted by antonysg View PostThis may be old topic, but i happened to stumble on this. I am planning to buy Fz16, but i am worried that i would be stuck with that 140/60 tyre without any options to improve mileage. Stock tyre seems to suffer more punctures too. Frankly that 140/60 tyre is overkill for a 150cc.
Here what i understand
140/60 = Tyre width is 140 mm, height is 84 mm, punctures in bad roads
140/70 = Tyre width is 140 mm, height is 98 mm, bad option i think
130/70 = Tyre width is 130 mm, height is 91 mm, better maybe
120/75 = Tyre width is 120 mm, height is 90 mm, Fz rim too wide for this?
110/80 = Tyre width is 110 mm, height is 88 mm, dazzler tyre, Fz rim too wide??
).
Its not about the tyre its about the type of road on which you are travelling. Stick to the stock and it assures you amazing handling.
I got mine replaced at 24K. It depends on the maintenance of the chain. If you have maintained it properly then it should last 24-25K Kms easily.Originally posted by jkhan69 View PostAfter how many kilometers do we have to change the chain assembly... ideally?Last edited by RAK; 09-15-2011, 11:29 AM.

What should be the ideal tyre pressure for Fazer?
At present I keep it at 28 PSI front and 33 for rear . This as per recommended in the manual ,will it be OK if raise the pressure to 34 or 36 PSI for the rear tyre ,what effect will that have on the tyre as well as on the overall riding comfort/experience?

well.. higher the pressure.. the bike will be bit more bouncy!! besides that i am not too sure what other major effects it would have on the bike's handling!! i always keep my bike in the recommended air pressure

Higher pressure will make it a bit bouncy, thereby improving ride quality with pillion/bumpy roads. Also gives increased mileage. Though that doesn't mean you fill 40psi like the Splendor guys!
Downside is smaller contact patch means lesser control on cornering&more wear in the centre, which is anyway the harder part rubber. Speedo readings also vary based on tyre pressure.
So, if you are planning on hard cornering, keep tyre pressure lower.Quench my thirst with gasoline!
