I really wouldn't recommend emptying the fuel tank. Not good for the FI.Originally posted by hypheni View PostDon't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

FI bikes should never be ridden empty. The injectors are costly affair to replace.Originally posted by hypheni View PostCan someone can tell me what's the best way to do a empty tank before refueling? Now the last fuel bar is blinking and I rode around 30kms. How many kms should I ride the bike before refueling? Also whats the approx kms do the bike run after the blinking stops completely? I never tried this so thought of trying once. Is there any harm or any issues which I should consider?Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

True, the fuel pump depends on the fuel for lubrication and heat dissipation.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostFI bikes should never be ridden empty. The injectors are costly affair to replace.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Fuel pump in CBR is a submerged type so if you ride it until the tank is dry then you run the risk of operating the fuel pump in dry state which definately damages it so you are probably 14k rs down by now if the blinking has stopped.Originally posted by hypheni View PostCan someone can tell me what's the best way to do a empty tank before refueling? Re: Honda CBR 250R
I've run the pump dry twice in my first year of ownership. It took 70 -72 kms in city riding once the blinking starts, for the bike to start coughing and jerking.Originally posted by hypheni View PostThanks for clarifying mates. It's good practice to keep the tank filled up, since fuel theft is difficult in FI bikes. It may prevent the tank from rusting. I fill up in city whenever it goes to 3 bars. On national highways, I fill up full tank when I cross 400 kms or 20-30 kms after the last bar blinks. If I spot a LOA/Shell/Reliance bunk, I always fill up there, no matter if it's 2 litre also.Last edited by leech; 02-02-2017, 03:14 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Well that means you always keep your tank filled to an optimized level. I was wondering whether mixing of different station's fuel and not emptying the same would cause any problems in long run. I generally fill always when the last bar starts blinking or after 30-40kms post that.Originally posted by leech View PostI've run the pump dry twice in my first year of ownership. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Well, the only fuel related problems I've had was a fuel filter choked with gunk, it caused my bike to shut off randomly. Once I changed it, I've had no problems. After all, it's just 91 Ron petrol with additives and gunk.Originally posted by hypheni View PostWell that means you always keep your tank filled to an optimized level. Check if he has got the servicing done from Honda SVC then he would have the bills.
Also check for front fork alignment, oil seal, and sprocket teeth, if they are pointed and sharp, they need change. Check tyre health.
Do check for oil residue at the end of exhaust (if yes, stay away). Ride it for few kms and check for any metallic sound while riding. if yes, they are the shims.
Thanks prateek2210, will check the points you mentioned and if they look ok will give him my Quote 60 - 65 max and if not walk away :-)
thanks hope it goes Well :-)

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Usually injectors are good, fuel pump is what gets burned up in the process. Injectors usually last a life time of the vehicle, injectors are piezoelectric so they have a very good life. The problem is with the injectors wherein, they are suspceptible to clogging up due to bad fuel, over time. So, if you know your usual fuel station isn't up to the mark in providing good fuel, you can use injector cleaners, which surprisingly does seem to work.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostFI bikes should never be ridden empty. There are totally six bars, when the bar goes to the last one, you have approximately 2.5 liters of fuel. So, considering liberal on the throttle at this point would fetch close to 70 kms without a problem.. When the last segment starts blinking, the fuel is lower than 2.5 liters, red line zone.Originally posted by hypheni View PostCan someone can tell me what's the best way to do a empty tank before refueling? Re: Honda CBR 250R
I think there are lot of figures of how much petrol remain there when last bar goes into blinking mode. I read the figure as 2L, 2.5L, 3L, 3.5L many times. I guess Honda never said anything official. Someone really need to test it. Or might be some owner has already tested it?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I believe it is around 2.5 liters when it starts the last bar blinking. 2 times I filled around 10.5 liters with last bar blinking . And there t will be around 4-4.5L liters when it reaches 1 bar(not blinking).because I used to fill when it reaches to 1 bar and it always fills around 8.5-9 litres to reach the brim. In short, in the 5 bars from left, each bar represents around 2liters and final 6th bar is 0.5liter. Its all my assumptions based on the odo reading according to fuel bars and quantity for fuel I fill in.Originally posted by hypheni View PostI think there are lot of figures of how much petrol remain there when last bar goes into blinking mode.
