Have been saying all over the forum - DO NOT WATER WASH your vehicles. Just gently wipe over the dust & dirt using cleaning solvents. Water wash is certainly going to ruin your vehicles on long run FOR SURE.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Whew!!! Have to say it all over again. Go back few pages, I've clearly outlined as how to clean. It requires some effort though, but, on a long run, it certainly pays.
Washing, not only for C250R, even for the most advanced SBK is not an issue for the moment. But, unless one plans to retain the vehicle on long terms, one can always choose to water wash everytime.
Regarding the manual part, there's nothing mentioned about adjusting the RVM, don't we do it? C'mon!!! One cannot expect detailing job to be mentioned as part of owner's manual that talks about maintenance & operating part.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

yea certainly.. i have read it twice already.. but i think the pictorials given are not so clear..Originally posted by aargee View PostAbsolutely you can do it by yourself. READ, REREAD, the owner's manual & there's instructions as how to do it. Which type of setting gives softest & which one gives hardest.
Take some time, go through the manual, after all, its your bike & none other than you should be more than concerned on your bike isn't it?
will redo it again sitting near the bike..
yea washing is not an issue but its not good for the bike or even for cars in that case.. in the long run there is more chances for rust.. i would say dusting is fine for normal cleaning and if u had rode in the rain then wipe it with a dry cloth.. separate cloth for painted and non painted areas.. just go through the previous posts, you'll get an idea about cleaning..Originally posted by Rahul Rods Tewathia View Posti think washing is not an issue for cbr we can wash it anytime or anyday..

P.S.I see ppl washing the cars daily with water but its not good in the long run.
.
thanks.. i will try it..Originally posted by Youngking View PostYou can adjust it by yourself, you can find an adjusting tool and a lever in your tool kit. Just fit the tool in the lever and adjust the suspension in the appropriate direction.

Honda Vehicle Checkup and Feedback Session Update - Bangalore
Yesterday we had the Free Vehicle Checking and Feedback session by Honda in Sapphire Honda (Bangalore). There were around 10 people from Honda, who knew inside out of the CBR. They were there to listen to all our problems and solve it. Though they were not able to do anything for the quality issues, they could help us with the other issues. They had set-up a separate bay in the service centre for this activity, and they had all the tools to do it.
Initially there was one young engineer from Honda who was talking too much and was a bit rude. But Ajay gave him a piece of his mind and made him shut his mouth.
All others were really helpful.
I had vibes on the fairing and some mis-alignment of my grab rail and rear fender. They opened everything and fixed it. There was a lot of throttle play and a bit of clutch play. That was fixed. They checked the levels of all the fluids/oil in the bike. Tightened all the screws. I was happy with all what they did.
After all this, they took my bike for washing and after that they took a test ride on my bike. And the engineers there found that there is some fork play and the steering was not moving as freely as it should be. They said its a bit hard. Well, I had never felt/realized this issue. Also the 10-15 friends of mine who have ridden my bike never felt this. I was happy that they themselves found this problem and told me. So they told me that they require another 30 mins atleast to open the clip-on and the assembly there to check this. I was more than happy for this because solving the issues are the priority. They opened it and fixed it back and checked. The issue was still there. So they opened it again and checked the ball bearings and the steering race cone. Voila!! The issue was there. Water droplets were found inside and it was in its initial stage of getting rusted. They showed me the part and there was no rusting, but there was some yellowish color. They immediately asked the service manager there to place an order for a steering race cone. And then they called up the washing guy there. They instructed him not to pressure wash in some of the areas in CBR. It was mostly inside the fairing area and your handle bar area. I was happy that they acknowledged it and agreed to fix it without even me speaking a word about it. Also, previously once when I had done the washing, the silver color coating on the exhaust shield had chipped off. Probably because of the shampoo used or pressure wash again. I didn't tell anything about this to them. But they themselves saw my exhaust shield, took a pic of it and ordered for an exhaust shield to said that it'll be replaced.
So guys, Washing IS an ISSUE!!! Please be careful about this.
I've now decided to do all the cleanings myself using ONR.
I know that there are issues, but I'm happy the way they responded to it and took the initiative to resolve it. Regarding the few quality issues like paint job, finishing, rusting of mirror screws and other metals and footpeg rubber, they said that they will be looking into it seriously and there will be improvement. I really hope that it happens.
Met couple of other CBR riders (AjayManohar, xxbomb, Duke_848, bhs, jamalkhan) and had some good discussions.Last edited by sudeepnbr; 07-07-2011, 12:09 PM.Sudeep P Nambiar

I'm with you on this. Let me look into the manual & explain as how it needs to be done OR I'll get this done myself & explain it for you.Originally posted by kishoremuthu View Postbut i think the pictorials given are not so clear..
will redo it again sitting near the bike..
See, this is what I've been telling all around & most people are happy to throw buckets of water on to the vehicle. Its not only with C250R, be it even Ducati or BMW, water wash (the most easiest job) is not good in long run.Originally posted by sudeepnbr View PostSo guys, Washing IS an ISSUE!!! Nice report there Sudeep & I felt very happy reading it
May be your write-up or the experience or both.
It was a very nice gesture from tulinisarg to have handed over the phone to the HMSI engineers when he was present with them. Thanks a million my friend
They said, they'll be here in Chennai sometimes y'day or today, but, my dealer is giving a damn about it I guess. I haven't received any call for the free camp as yet. Anyone else in Chennai got a call?Last edited by aargee; 07-07-2011, 12:15 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

We spoke to the engineers about your issue. They said, they had replaced the heart of the bike, which is the biggest thing. Later when we were trying to get into the details of it, the talk was going somewhere else. So we just stopped it.
Also, one of the sales guy in that team came to me and said this Chennai guy actually from a competitor!
I said, WTF!!
I know this person personally and he is not a competitor and he is just a customer like us. He didn't open his mouth after that. Then he actually wanted to talk to you infront of me, but later just took your number from me.
Also the service engineers said that they'll be in Chennai today/tomorrow. I told him that a friend of mine didn't get a call from his dealer about this. They said that they're not calling all the people. Maybe just those who've owned the CBR for close to one month. It doesn't make any sense though. Issues can come on day 1 as well as after a month. I suggest you to call the dealers and check about this camp.Originally posted by aargee View PostThey said, they'll be here in Chennai sometimes y'day or today, but, my dealer is giving a damn about it I guess. so argee u mean dude that the CBR can't be washed or it has quality issues,i am stuck with a rusted front fork assembly and ASC guy has take a few pics for Honda engineers, dunno what they will do really? but is there a way or email to reach honda directly with photographic evidence.Originally posted by aargee View PostSee, this is what I've been telling all around & most people are happy to throw buckets of water on to the vehicle. Guess what ? on inspecting my bike the ASC guy found that the fairing was not alighned properly on the right side was coming out, bike has never taken a fall and is hardly a 2 weeks old. He tightened the handle but that is makin the handle movement a bit too tight, can i get to honda engineers and complain or should i put this up in consumer court, i feel cheated on being given a low std product in the name of a premium bike

Thanks SudeepOriginally posted by sudeepnbr View PostWe spoke to the engineers about...stopped it
Ideally, you guys should've called me in front of them. Now that he's taken the number, I'm 101% confident, they wouldn't even call.Originally posted by sudeepnbr View PostThen he actually wanted to talk to you infront of me, but later just took your number from me
Shows how much they care enough!!! It simply doesn't make sense like you said. Probably, they want to hear only the positives from the owner's.Originally posted by sudeepnbr View PostAlso the service engineers said...one month
Yep; I did this a few minutes ago; Guess what? They didn't deny anything on the camp, they said, if they're being called by HMSI for the free camp, they'll nominate my name. This means, HMSI will ask the dealers to nominate & IF JSP is being called, then I'd be intimated.Originally posted by sudeepnbr View PostI suggest you to call the dealers and check about this camp.

Anyways, this guy has given me two phone numbers. One is the Service Head of South India and other is the Sales Head, both based in Regional Office, Bangalore. If you need, I'll PM you the numbers.
Well I hope they call you. Keep buggin themOriginally posted by aargee View PostYep; I did this a few minutes ago; Guess what? Dude, I don't know what to say with people who misinterpret or don't read posts properly!!! Did I say only C250R? Water wash is no good in long terms even for Ducati (remember most of its components are made out of Titanium) & BMW. Now, if I should take some liberty, it applies to cars as well. Leave alone C250R.Originally posted by TrueBlueBikeR View Postso argee u mean dude that the CBR can't be washed or it has quality issues
Choice is yours, but certainly C250R is NOT A PREMIUM bike. Premium is only a perspective word. For a person who can afford barely a P150, its premium, but for a person who can afford D796, even a N250R is not premium.Originally posted by TrueBlueBikeR View Postcan i get to honda engineers and complain or should i put this up in consumer court, i feel cheated on being given a low std product in the name of a premium bike
Your case in court will withstand ONLY IF, HMSI is not willing to fix the issues. The moment you send a notice, HMSI will fix the issue for you, so what else do you expect?
Its not cheated my friend, its only an expectation failure.
Try searching in the N250R thread, there was an ECU failure for a friend & BAL fixed it for him. So, do you feel, there's an injust? Regarding rust, I really don't know what to say. HMSI will clearly show that one out of several 100 bikes have this issue & will come forward to fix. So what will you complain next?
But, if you'd an expectation that the vehicle SHOULD never rust or fairings should never vibrate, then, sorry my friend, these things are going to happen, unless you're personally with the ASC; because, Honda is a VFM product & not a life style product
The real issue is when HMSI doesn't acknowledge the issue & doesn't come forward to fix them; that's when you need to move to court.
The biggest issue with HMSI is that, none of us are able to catch hold of the attention of the top management.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

No problemOriginally posted by sudeepnbr View PostYes, I think I should've called you that time...you the numbers
Anyway, let me see, if the dealers don't call me for their service camp, then, I'll probably get in touch with you for the numbers OR if it isn't a botheration pls pass to me. Assured, I'll get in touch with them ONLY IF things go out of control
. But most of the time, I'm getting a good response from ASC (both Didar & JSP). Its just that I need to take the vehicle everytime.
Not sure how other's feel, I'm really embarassed to go to ASC now!!! Its been 3 full weeks, clocked over 1750+ Kms & its more than let me recall...Originally posted by sudeepnbr View PostWell I hope they call you. Keep buggin them

I was quite happy when I heard the service interval was 6K kms, but, I think the bike will have to visit ASC for every 4K kms in the long run. Also, if you look at the warranty period, its 2 years good, but the Kms? Just 32K kms!!! I'd been happy if they'd provided about 50-60K odd kms.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
