Re: Honda CBR 250R
Go ahead with the fork oil change and change it to 20w from the stock 10w you'd definitely feel the difference. The stock fork takes 331 +- 12 ML, so you can go ahead and fill 340 ML per fork and it should help stiffen the setup.Originally posted by hypheni View PostCurious to know a bit more about fuel filter change interval and other important things to check/replace post 20K. I have clocked 21300kms till date and I feel the engine and shifting are a bit rough now, also tires are not in that good shape. So what are the things to check for when the bike has completed 20K and 4years? I feel the followings:
1. Change of tires as the stock Conti served me quite well in past 4yrs with zero puncture. But as usual it's bad on gravel and wet roads.
2. Change of fork oil as I feel the bike is a bit shaky while braking hard.
3. FI wash? I heard this term from a Honda mechanic during my early days of ownership, but I completely ignored it and doubt in such things required for CBR.
4. As you suggested change fuel filter. BTW how much doesn't it cost?
5. Valve clearance check or any other engine related check?
FI wash is a mechanic's terminology of engine flush. One can clean the butterfly of the throttle body and clean it which helps de-carbonize the venturi and the plate, if the bike is clocked more than 30k kms plus.
Fuel filter costs approx 180 Rupees
Valve clearance, though recommended, just to check it, one needs to remove the valve cover and it's a tiring process. Unless there aren't any strange sounds or the signature stitching sound throughout the rev range, why fix if it ain't broken.
Cheers!

Changing the ignition lock on Honda CBR250R
Bought a second hand CBR in great condition, save for a lock that just isn't smooth.
Want to get it replaced. Anyone know how?
Thanks

Re: Changing the ignition lock on Honda CBR250R
If you have tight ignition lock, if that is what I get from your post, get a small can of Zorrick and spray it inside the ignition and let it sit for a while. You can also use pure sunflower oil, just two drops and keep try switching on and off so the action is free. Remember, just two drops of oil in case of Zorrick. If you have Zorrick, spray it inside the lock set, and let it sit for a few mins and then do the switch on and off for a few seconds so that it frees up.Originally posted by JoshAraujo View PostBought a second hand CBR in great condition, save for a lock that just isn't smooth.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I can see a hype in used CBR market now, a small gap in new bike availability made people to think about Honda reliability when they shed 2 lakh plus. I had suggested one friend mojo, another one of my cousin took tb 500, I know other 2 guys who were using z250 and a Benelli TNT 300. All these guys moved from these bike except my cousin. None of these are value for money, after sales/maintenance/mileage/reliability literally killing those people. I bought a used CBR abs 2016 model after a marathon search on all these bikes, specifically mojo and dominar. But now I can peacefully say, the decision was correct. Cbr indeed a great bike, even though its quite outdated with specs and configuration, it still won't let you down.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I would like to ask you guys one query. My bike is 2016 model, clocked around 10k now. During drive, specifically on higher gears, when I de-acclerate I can hear a light metal sound, I don't know how to explain that. I couldn't hear that in lower gears or always, but I believe this sound started coming recently, last 500km. Any idea on this?

I've gone and tried everything possible from oils to good old WD40 on that lock to availOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostIf you have tight ignition lock, if that is what I get from your post, get a small can of Zorrick and spray it inside the ignition and let it sit for a while. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Sounds are always hard to be precisely given a solution upon. It can range from, simply a loose chain, or a tight chain, unlubed chain, normal engine stitching sound post 5.5k rpm some sounds are pretty much normal. Do post sound clip if feasible, at least that can give us an idea as to what the problem is.Originally posted by yathi View PostI would like to ask you guys one query. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Properly clean and lube the chain. Had the same problem but this worked for me. Repeat this process after every 500kms but in this season do it whenever u see lot of dirt and watch out for your chain slack also.[emoji106]Originally posted by yathi View PostI would like to ask you guys one query. The very first slide said what is the destination. Heading also mentions it, over that if you missed last 2minutes, it also mentioned the hotel. I meant what stands out in the memory after 3-4 hours. Sorry for not being more clear.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostThe very first slide said what is the destination. Heading also mentions it, over that if you missed last 2minutes, it also mentioned the hotel. What more you wanted?
