  • My take on New dunlop tyres for CBR 250

The tyre mentions "tuffgrip" and indeed it behaves like one ! I fee there is alot of grip compared to the previous conti tyre !

also must say .. tried corners ... It was like WOW ! Vast difference ...

PS - I have ridden only for 50 kms but then I find alot of difference over it compared to Conti !

I will be waiting eagerly to know, on this decision of yours.

Glad to know that Dunlop behaves better than Conti. Do you find it any difficult because of different tread patterns in front and rear??

One general question: what is the life span of clutch cable and acclerator cable? What interval should these be changed to be in safer side?

      • IMO if you use 10w30 synthetic, change oil at an interval of every 5k and if using 20w40 mineral then change every 2.5-3k. I change my oil(10w30) at about every 4.5k.

Reading all these posts about oils, I am wondering what's the oil change interval CBR owners are sticking to(those who are using 20w40 mineral). Hope it's not 6k as recommended by manual as I don't think that mineral would last for that much time. I think Honda's 10w30 synthetic is a VFM oil.

Edit: this post is not displaying my profile picture but instead picture of someone else.

It is known in cars that Steel belted radials ,or inflating tire pressure 3~5 psi above recommended value leads to early demise of suspension parts .,esp., the rubber bushes...a softer Polyester belted tire gives better grip due to it's pliability and saves the suspension components and geometry.

Antz - Used 7100 20W50 in the past; oil disappeared without a trace in less than 100 Kms; PSR Ji knows about it. Will experiment on Motul 10W40FS & post the outcome in few months.

Appu - You've an insane FE
Yes I am aware of the Motul 7100 20w50 Synth oil disappearing act....and what stress it brought on you...
Beware of fake Motul oil...Somehow I am more inclined towards Shell , Valvoline..or even a Gulf pride....
Using 10w30 Synthetic is a double whammy on the piston rings.A synth oil is made of smaller particles and can escape through tiny gaps, and if it is also of thinner grade, then the oil can easily escape through the rings and get consumed in the combustion chamber...this will be evident on long high speed runs,as the engine temperature increases and expands sealing tolerances.
A well made engine with careful selection of matching the mating metals and production quality(tolerances) will be able to withstand using 10w30 Synth oil without problem.
          Just my thought

All this internet talk will not help Sir!!! Visited a good tire showroom & I'm very disappointed to hear the actual market prevailing in this country from them. Let me search if there're a tire thread; I'll put up all my findings followed by the realities. Sorry PSR Ji, if my words are harsh, I'm not happy; will call you over the weekend to talk out of forum!!!

            • I heard on forums that the new CBR250R comes with remapped ECU for more power. Anyone knows how true is this and, if yes, whats the difference? Thanks in advance.

                      Notice the words...
we mean (and hope), that Honda will be looking at working on the ECU so that the CBR 250R whips out slightly more power and at the same remains frugal

I read that. But I am an optimist; asking if any miracle happened.

I highly doubt; if we were to get a 26Bhp machine (or even 25 Bhp) it seldom makes a difference with the Thai machines. Oh!!! That way, I stay optimist too

Dunlop is available only in grey market unless the dealer has old stock bought 6-8 months ago; that's what the tire dealer told me today. You guys are simply nuts or simply having too much money!!!

Geroge - Had I not told you to claim your warranty on the tire? If you've too much money, then, you can donate it to me I accept in form of CC, cash, MO, DD, cheque, NEFT, RTGS & also in INR or foreign currency
