Thanks for the reply and the extra information. appreciate itOriginally posted by pravu View PostGoing beyond the specifications would not only affect the top end but also fuel efficiency. And it may affect the chasis as well. If you want a better tyre operating within the specs, Pirelli is the best bet which I myself would be getting very soon.
The bullet cover comes in a num of varieties and the quality really varies with the color options available. When I went to the shop, I was entertained with 3 colors namely orange, yellow and white. Amid them, white was finest in terms of quality. Surprisingly the price was same for all three. I got it for 500 bucks and it can be washed if goes dirty. The material is of raincoat quality e.g. duckback material type. Yes, there was a name printed on its cover, it is "IMPACT".
Just one more thing. The shop you are talking about is that royal enfield showroom? Are the covers available in the re showroom?

If the VAT is added to the oil filter & oil above, why is VAT again added below?? I think should be only once. (maybe wrong).. So anybody can clarify this?? or is it this way?Originally posted by sudeepnbr View PostI'm attaching my first service bill for details.

VAT--Value Added Tax - Tax for productsOriginally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostNEED URGENT HELP!!!!

Service Tax - Tax on Labor (charges for fitting, replacing and repairs)
VAT is not added again...its service tax.
Both are correct and different from each other.
The bill shows correct info regarding taxes
See the bill where VAT is present on on Oil and filter which are product...it will be absent for Oil Lubrication and polishing cz its servicing and not products....
Service tax will be absent for Oil and filter... it present for oil lubrication and polishing....
Now get the point clear!!!! two different taxes....one for products and other for services.Last edited by Eshan-P180; 06-14-2011, 06:05 PM.sigpic

The calculation is correct. They have indicated the vat % on the top column, but they calculated the VAT on the Value of the parts only and not on the Total Amount. The VAT was on 228 + 663 + 144 @ 14% . If the Vat was calculated twice, this would have been 260+756+144 @ 14% = 1322 Rupees. Hope this clears your doubtOriginally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostNEED URGENT HELP!!!!

It is fine Buddy!! If you see carefully then you will find that the VAT calculated at the bottom part of the bill is on "Value" and not on "TOT Amount" (Total amount includes VAT)Originally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostIf the VAT is added to the oil filter & oil above, why is VAT again added below?? In order to cross check you can sum up the cost under the TOT Amount section only, add the service tax and it will be same as what they charged you.

yes.the VAT for oil and oil filter have been just mentioned above but have not been added in 1035.24 (which is 228.07+663.17+144).they have added the VAT for both products later as 124.77 which gives 1175 (incl. service tax of 14.83).

Its not added twice. The VAT added above is just for information, to show us the total price of the product including VAT, this is not considered for payment. Below one is the actual VAT amount considered for payment.Originally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostNEED URGENT HELP!!!!

Woah!!! My bill has become a big topic of discussion here!!! Lemme explain it.
Well, all the calculations are correct. VAT and Service Tax are two different things.
Here, VAT is calculated only on the Spare Parts (Oil & Oil Filter). And the calculated amount is just shown for reference in the TOT.AMT column.
The Value for the two items is 891.24 (228.07 + 663.17) and VAT amount comes as 124.77 (14% of 228.07 + 14% of 663.17).
The second section is for labour charges. Which includes Chain Lubrication and Polishing stuffs. Total for that is 144.00.
For the Net Amount, forget about all the Taxes. So it comes as 891.24 + 144 = 1035.24
VAT amount is calculated ONLY on Spare Parts, which is 124.77
Now Service Tax is calculated ONLY on the Labour Part. i.e. 10.30% of 144.00 = 14.83
So the Total Bill Amount comes as 1035.24 + 124.77 + 14.83 = 1174.86
This is rounded off to 1175.00 by adding 0.16.
Hope all doubts are cleared now.

The VAT is to show as it's mandatory in bill -- the actual product cost is divided by vat percentage & than multiplied again for billing purpose so that customer doesn't have to bear the brunt
so the value of 228 is already discounted by 14% & than later on added for billing.
Atleast this is the scene in Yamaha --dunno in honda--need to confirm
