Some noob questions for you PSROriginally posted by psr View PostNot true....A True ABS like in CBR gets it's pulse input directly from the wheel, through which it detects the wheel rotation or lock up....
The ABS functionality will how ever become different with tires of varying grip...The ABS program set up inside the ABS ECU is pertaining to the bike's total traction setup, taking into account the stock condition....but will not cause harm and will function with full reliability at all times...... If you look at the front disc....the linear even spaced slots innermost on the disk is the ABS pulse developer.Try riding the bike with 5 PSI more and less and see if any change in ABS action is there..
Everyday before you ride make sure the slots are clean, and if you happen to go through thick mud/slush which will block these slots, then the ABS will get confused and not function as it should.
1> For above bold part ....
i) I doubt just because of change in 5 - 8 PSI wont disturb bikes ABS...?Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

You can actually 'turn the key' into the locked position with the handle fully turned either to the left or to the right. However, the handle actually gets 'locked' only when in the fully turned left position.Originally posted by hifisharu View PostPeople who cannot lock the handle both ways, please get it checked asap, I've been using the left and right side ones since day one, so it could be a defect, or you're not doing it right.
If you 'turn the key' into the locked position with the handle fully turned to the right, you can still turn to handle from the extreme right to almost fully straight position... and hence, you handle is not truly 'locked' even though the position on the steering key may state so
Try it and see for yourself!

Got mine!
10th June : Just for time pass I called my dealer, didnt expectd but my dealer said your bike is ready you can come and pay and take your bike. I couldnt believe for 10 mins.
. But then reached there at 5 and did check up of bike and finally paid and cleared all the details. The mechanic was telling me tips and bla bla but i was in own world
. As soon as i sat on bike and started it i was out of this world. Waiting from the time it was announced, it was a heavenly feeling. My luv, My CBR.

. Colour i chose is red.
Did 40 on the day i bought. Next day 80 and so on. Bike is very sexy. Pickup, Handling, Colour everything was awesome except THE SOUND both of exhaust and horn but still it was fine for me. 310 was on ODO and last bar on fuel meter. I topped it up just before writing this post and to my surprise only Rs600 i.e. 8.81 lts And i was like WTH
!!...so less? then i calculated the average and it was 35kmpl

. I am damn happy.
I am just trying to keep it below 4k rpm.
pics to follow soon.

Crucial question regarding 1st Service
Both the Manual as well as the Service Centre says that the 1st service should be conducted within 1k kms or 1month from purchase whichever is earlier.
Now, my problem is that I'm completing 1 month on the 19th on June, but I have ONLY 237km on the odo
(Its either been burning HOT or raining incessantly.. hence mostly been using the car)
Hence, what would be the point of getting the engine oil and filter replaced with only 237kms on the odo??
Do I risk voiding the warranty if I dont get the service done within Honda's stipulated interval on 30days?
What would you have done?

well, its better to get it serviced than delay cus they will not hesitate to void ur warranty...
else, as ur SVC guys to "redeem" ur coupon...cus thats what i have done...
I will "NEVER" get my bike serviced unless i get an oil filter and i still have no idea when its gonna arrive...but my 1 month completes tomorrow...17th of June...so i went to my SVC guys, got my coupon redeemed for the 15th of june as i still wait for my filter, without driving the bike

LOL so tue!Originally posted by aargee View PostRide
But while your answer is witty, it does little to ease my situation
The only real option that i can see is that I go ahead with the service now as per their schedule and then change the engine oil and filter AGAIN at 1k mark

Guys.
Allow me to welcome myself to the tribe
.
After having waited for close to 6 months (booked on the 1st of Jan) I finally managed to pick up "Red Riding Hood" on the day before yesterday and rode it home in formals without a jacket in pouring rain for 40km soaking wet. But I had a huge smile plastered on my face by the time I got home.
A few initial observations (not complaints mind you
)
- As already pointed out and is being debated, my handle only locks with the wheel turned to the left
- Knocks at low speed and high gear (I put it down to me being in wrong gear though)
- Gear shift is a little notchy (I have heard that the clutch sprung with a lot of free play can do that, so have to get that fixed)
- Did not feel the ABS in action except when I had to yank the brakes on wet surface because the innova in front of me decided suddenly that he had to turn right
- Things to do - Tank Pad, Disc Lock
Well that's in brief. Will come back with more as I continue to ride. And thanks to XBHP for keeping me sane during the seemingly endless wait.
Cheers to Arjun, Gaurav and Usman who shared my plight in one way or the other.

Nothing humor I see; its quite evident that, you bought the motorcycle for riding & when it isn't used, then it doesn't serve the purpose. Otherwise, it has decorate in your showcase, which I'm sure wouldn't fit.Originally posted by Vicky View PostBut while your answer is witty, it does little to ease my situation

Two years back, one of my friend had bought his FZ and the next day his company asked him to go Onsite to US for 3 months.Originally posted by Vicky View PostDo I risk voiding the warranty if I dont get the service done within Honda's stipulated interval on 30days?
What would you have done?
He went and spoke to the Supervisor and Manager at the Yamaha showroom and they agreed to do the first service after 3 month.
So the bike was lying in our parking lot for 3 months and it just had around 50 kms on the odo. He returned from US after 3 months, rode is for couple of 100 kms and then gave it for servicing. Nothing happened to his warranty.
So what I want to tell you is, better speak to the people over there and get a confirmation if they're okay doing the first service after some time.
Otherwise do the service now and then ride it for around 1000 kms and then repeat the first service again.Sudeep P Nambiar
