That depends on your usage bro. Mine was completely worn out at 4k due to my expensive rear brake usage. This time, mine is at 9k and more than half left. So the usage tells the story.

Looks like you still have enough liner left for another 4 to 6k kms. What are you so worried about?

Heating prob. So pads not pressing against the disc since another 4k left(10k is normal life of pads). I'll check with the piston lile you said. Actually am not worried about heating, but it decreases the braking efficiency. My rear brakes are superb in rain (since rain cools it ) and 50% of its power under normal conditions as it heats up

I guess it must last 4-6k kms more, depending on your use..

My first two sets of Brake Pads, lasted for 10k-11k kms each, but this current one has done 4k and will do max. 500kms more..
I am not sure, but i thing, Some yamaha SVC's r selling Duplicate or Fake stuff..
So i am searching for some other Brake pads that will fit on our bikes..

At last changed oil to Motul 300v Factory Line 15w50. The change is awesome. No harsh sounds, better all round performance, and I hopefully think the unnecessary vibrations have been cleared. Also completely changed the coolant and filled in new. Its like a dream to ride her now. Smooth as never before.

No direct distributors here. Had to shed 900 plus to get it.

there's a slight discrepancy in my case as well...not as much as you i guess, since the difference between the gaps in my case is less than my little finger's worth, but there still is..i anyway know why that is. as i might have said earlier, 3 weeks ago or so (my bike being 1.5 months old now) i noticed that my handlebar is turned very slightly to the right-side with respect to the straight line forward (defined by the direction the front wheel assembly is directed)..i'd just all of a sudden noticed it so i don't know if this was there right from day 1 or had something happened (in the latter case, i have a certain situation to suspect (no, not a crash))..makes absolutely no problems to the riding and handling though, because it's the direction of the front wheel assembly (straight forward or slightly distorted or something) that decides where the bike is going and its direction/orientation/geometry is fine...in any case, i'll get it fixed at the SVC sometime.

rode for the first time in the crouched riding position. what an awesome feeling closer to the bike (hugging the tank), closer to its beautiful sound, feels even more like a pilot gliding over the road

particularly for those riders (plenty of them) who don't know any other fellow experienced riders in real life or they don't live in some big city where there are a lot of SVCs, good credible known mechanics and the abundance of knowledgeable and very experienced riders (who actually know some shit) whom they can personally go and ask around after getting acquainted through internet or riding fraternities

                            @RONSyl

just for my info, what's that o/h thing written in your bill ?

good to know they used your own preferred oil at the SVC...i thought they don't do that..
Sorcerer's apprentice answered it. please check.

and they will not put any other oil other then yamalube atleast during free service. after that if you know the manager well enough to talk to him and use the oil that you got then it works. if you know any mechanic outside then you can change from them too.

If the difference is minimum like little finger or lesser gap then no need to worry. sometimes the tank might have not put back properly and that would give an illusion of the handle being bent. if you had no fall then no need to worry. if you had a fall then its a case to worry about.

Had been to a Konkan ride lately. The weather was awesome including million corners on NH-17. The bike performed flawlessly. At chiplun had to change front discpads, they were completely worn. One question the mech out there installed front pads which had Yamaha written and not Nissin, also they were made in Indonesia, costing Rs460. Attaching some pics.

Also performed a desi jugaad to use the canon DSLR bag as tail bag. Fits perfectly and does not move an inch at high speeds. More details on this later, yes a Canon 100DSLR and a Tamron 70-300 lens was in the bag during my small ride from Ganpatipule to Ratnagiri.

Lift the rear seat, strap the big pack strap under the seat and lock it. There are additional straps given on top which can be hooked on to the seat strap given for the passenger. Fits perfect and does not open up at high speeds. Desperately need to buy a carbiner so that additional locking can be done for peace of mind, was bit scared of the chain opening up.
