It is advised to change it with every oil change , the svc guys might advise to change it after 2 oil changes, but insist on changing at every oil change
Cheers

For DOT4 always contact the MOTUL dealer, and do bargain for price, even SVCs get from them.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostAnd svc guys use motul dot 4?? Can i get a can from them?? Its time to bleed my brakes. Its very difficult to source motul.. Tvs dot 4 sucks
Rs 179/- INR.
Depends on when are you changing. Is it first time at the time of 1st servicing after run-in period or you have run long!!!Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostHow long/ how many kms the stock oil filter can be used?
Presumably whenever you change your engine you can change your oil filter. It is cheap and good practice as the collected dirt and particles will also be removed at time of oil change.
Oil filters are cheap so you can change at each oil change time, or best is always change at every 2nd time of your oil change(I practice this).

Oh, you do change them a lot.Originally posted by black asp View Post39.5k on meter no 2. 5-6k in meter no 1 i use motul 3100 20w50 gold mostly except in winters when i use 5100 15w50 sometimes and junk oil at 1500- 1800 kms.
DO you really need to change so much oil, I mean so much variations as per season changes!!!! Or is it that you do lot of touring and tracks on this bike, that you go for seasonal variations.
Hope so you wont be having any problem, but I guess you change your oil too frequently. All these oils run smoothly atleast 2500kms. So no need to change so frequently.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Thanks for your advice but i did use the bike a lot for touring here and there (no track days though) when i was a student and most of them at high rpms(as with my other bikes also) but now it has subsided a bit but the habit of using cheaper oil(of course of the right grade and manufacturer)and changing it frequently has carried on . No perceptible advantages of changing the oil so soon but generally for the peace of mind i change it and i use 3100 gold mostly but have used 5100 say for approx 2-3 times in the last 2.5 years when it was really really cold here.Originally posted by saquib3005 View PostOh, you do change them a lot.

I'm going to change oil filter now, and will change it periodically.
I use motul 300v it was almost 500kms old... Do I need to drain the oil before changing the oil filter?Last edited by Suresh@yammie; 02-14-2014, 02:22 PM.

Change the filter at the time of oil change. Keep using it for now, but when you change the oil next time, change the filter with it.Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostI use motul 300v it was almost 500kms old... Do I need to drain the oil before changing the oil filter?
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Lean forward, grab the underside of the tank with your thighs. Basically, if you can let go off the the handlebars while leaned and don't fall on the tank, then your posture is right. the idea is to not put weight on the handlebars. hold on the handlebars lightly just so you can maintain direction. Putting weight on the handlebars with not only upset handling, but also will hurt your palms and around your elbows. Note that you need a lot of lower back strength. Your lower back WILL hurt with this riding position. It requires practice till you find your rhythm. Don't simply lean over too much.Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostAdd to what @siddharthsure said, just let your both thighs firmly hugging the fuel tank
