Yes. It has the same Deltabox frame as the R15 v2.0

Will it be wise to buy r15s or r15v2
It depends upon the requirements. As far as solo rides are concerned, R15 v2.0 is the way to go. V2.0 with split seat looks much more sportier. I think Yamaha has deliberately launched R15s and soon they will discontinue R15 v2.0 so that R3 does not look like a marginally bigger R15 (well sort of).

I personally Like the r15v2 as it looks beautiful.
There you said it. If you like the 2.0 then go for that. Else you will feel something amiss everytime you see a v2.0 on road while you are riding a R15s.

I really do not like the design of r15s. fairing and rear portion as it look exactly like the old version (from photos)
    +1

The fairing looks very different. I thought that the fairing would be the same.
When R15 v2.0 was launched by Yamaha, I guess they thought that since its the flagship Yamaha in India, lets go all guns blazing to sell it. Now with the R3, they seem to have deliberately taken a step back although yes its true that people wanted a better rear seat as well.

Are you really sure that Yamaha will discontinue the V2.0.?

No I am not sure about it and I hope this never happens. But I just think that Yamaha might actually do that in future.

Why I think so is because:
        (1) Now Yamaha will have to maintain production of two types of models of the same bike.
        (2) Discontinuing v2.0 will make R3 distinct.

If rear seat was the only reason for bringing R15s, then there was no reason to think too much and even change the design of the fairing as well. The fairing of v2.0 looks sportier with those triple vents rather than a single long vent and the R15s has more gap near the engine as evident from the photos posted by Gollum. They have essentially changed the bike to v1 with fatter tyre and swingarm.

Just saw R15 s while returning from office.. it really looks gorgeous with big tyre and LED lamps from behind , In my personal opinion being practical as well as it looks better than v2.0.

Are both the r15 (r15 v2 and r15s) same in terms of power figures?

R15s is just slightly different mechanically. Engine size is 1cc less lol. Power is 0.5BHP lower and torque is also lower by 0.5NM. Also, it is around 2Kg lighter than R15 v2.0.

Also, they have omitted the words "4 valves" from the engine specs of R15s. Posting links to specs of R15 vs R15s. This could be a mere omission in the spec sheet. There is no reason to alter the engine for R15s if its going to be sold alongside R15 v2.0.

              R15 v2.0 is SOHC 4 valve.

They say R15s is SOHC (does not mention 4 valves)

Yes. No change is engine specs. Its same. I just checked with few websites. Its the same with seat and rear body changes. Just imagine if the price are almost same(500 costly than V2.0). How can they leave 4 valves behind. Practically no change in power. But definately will get an improved mileage because of significant less weight.

Checked the new R15 S .It's mechanically the same bike and aesthetically similar to V1 (except exhaust and stickering ). I like it more than V2.Any idea when blue colour will be coming in S edition?

Blue might come in at auto expo.
Mechanically there is some difference. The R15-s is like 0.4NM less in torque as well as less in small amount of BHP figure as well. The R15-S uses 4A Battery, while v2 continues with a 3.5A battery. But, its 2kg lighter.

Are there any alternative traction pads to Stompgrips available? Stompgrips seems to be very expensive.

I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Yes it can be done by oneself. You just need a Phillip screwdriver. There are two screws, one behind low beam and other behind high beam.
These are easily noticeable on the back of headlight assembly. Turn these clockwise and anticlockwise to set the throw down or up. Best do it at night on street with no lighting, and adjust both high and low beam accordingly.

I came to know about Techspec grip pads but its also expensive as stompgrips are.

So I came up with a new juggad!

Have a look at these: Anti NON Slip CAR Dashboard Magic MAT PAD Multipurpose Mobile Holder Wallet Keys | eBay

NON Slip Dash MAT CAR Dashboard MAT Anti Skid PAD FOR ALL Cars SET OF 2 | eBay

These anti-slip pads are to be used in car dashboards originally.

But, I think if they are stuck on to the tanks then it will provide some/if not more leverage stompgrips would give. But, the thing that concerns me, is that these pads are said to be more powerful and would bring some damage or might peel off the paint on the tank.

I haven't used nor seen these anti slip pads before, so I don't know how actually powerful these things are. I'm gonna make a liitle DIY on this. If someone had already used these stuffs, then please educate me whether that my idea would make some sense or not.

                              Guys looking for urgent help.

I've 2014 model bike the one with o2 sensor . With 18600 kms on odo. Now I'm facing a problem with clutch bell noise and tappet noise so I have it for service at YASC. The service technician is telling that we need to open up the crankshaft ' cause he suspect crank bearing would have gone. 😒😓

I always use to drive at moderate speeds and occasional weekend rides doing speeds 100+ cruising . I change engine oil every 2000kms or 3 months time without any excuse.
The clutch bell noise and tappet noise is repetitive right from 3rd free service. And out of curiosity ice changed complete clutch assembly @11k kms. But again getting same problem @18k kms.

I'm completely stressed and don't know what to do. Can any one help me about warranty claim process .
Its always better to sweat than to bleed. Wear helmet.

No no. Dont get the crankcase opened yet, take a second opinion from some other Authorized service center. Clutch bell issue is ok, Tappet can be adjusted too if needed, but crank bearing noise at 18600 kms is quite unheard off in r15s, or any other bike for that matter, and in a well maintained bike like yours its highly improbable.

Do take second opinion at a different authorized service center. Dont mention to them that so and so service center advised to check or change crank bearing. Just ask them to check if clutch bell noise is excessive or any other noise and that will give you a clearer idea.

                                P.S: Has the warranty expired
