  • [QUOTE=rixBhp;769461]I'm a family man who travels to places. Being a family man makes me think twice before putting money into something . So the decision has to be be made with head + heart. That's where the value for money factor comes in. I should not regret that I have made a wrong decision.

    1. Daily commute to office on week days(5 kms) - City roads
    2. In the weekends. I go to my native (170kms up and down) - silky smooth highway + country road
    3. long rides once in a month or 2. (200+ kms up and down) - twisties and highways.
    4. looks doesn't matter

ok, so being a family man i suppose u will need a bike that you can drive with a pillion also right? in this case the P200Ns will surely be better .
VFM is something where i feel that people get confused to choose the bikes. even discover or Splendor can be VFM right?
    for daily commuting if you ride alone then either of the bikes are good.{since there are no proper ride reports of P200Ns i cannot compare totally}
    Highway and weekends - R15 V2 wins
Long rides - if you get comfortable with the riding position in R15 then its bliss.
both bikes look awesome. u got to decide if you want Naked or Faired

My final advice. Test Drive before buying. All the Best.

I think Pulsar 200NS would suit your requirements perfectly.
The R15 will give you lotta 'fun' factor (if you have ridden the R15, you know what I am talking about), awesome handling and cornering, better build quality.
Pulsar will give you ~6bhp and 50 cc more, better comfort in terms of riding position, more usable low end torque, relatively cheaper upkeep plus the initial monetary savings.

You have to decide what of the above is more imp for you then decide accordingly. Also do check out the pulsar review by zigwheels.
      Right said...go for pulsar200ns...for 1more imp point...
      U r a family person u said...so also think of pillion comfort..for those 170-200 km rides.
Unless u r thinkin of doing them alone..I own a R15v2( pics posted)...it doesn't feel good to highlight its cons...but pillion comfort is thing to watch.
My frnd felt he was gng as a election candidate on a rally...with whole world lookin at him

Also u said looks dnt matter...( u knocked of d biggest selling point of the v2)

But note pulsar can be really noisy and annoying after 10k kms...
200ns have copy pasted...80% ktm engine...with modified combustion...carburettor based...no FI to keep cost lower.( itne paisey main itnahich milega...)

I wonder how stable d pulsar will be as they have failed initially when they launched 200 & 220.they failed at stability at high speed.( when pulsar 200,220 was launched couple of years back)
Then they got some corrections in.closed down the gear problematic pulsar 200 model.
So overall product, p200ns is wait and watch for me.
But r15 v2 suits my need...they dnt match to ur needs..
      R15v2 coz its yamaha...
      Ktm,Honda,ducati r good....but yamaha is yamaha.:-*
      I didn't mention bajaj I guess

            • R15v2 or Pulsur 200N

              Hi,

Adding points to R15v2 or Pulsur 200N ??????.

Since R15 is on the road move for last three years thus we are aware of the engine performance and stability.
In one sentence : R15 - Ride and Tested Bike.

When it comes to Pulsar 200N we have not come across any ride and test performance review from Xbhpians and Experts etc.
Or If you are a hard core Pulsar fan then wait for it else blindly go for YES YAMAHA R15 V2.

Thanks a lot Srikanth...Was lucky enough to see all the 5 color variants literally next to each other...Made the color choice rather easy then
                      Also got the Rjays Swift..

Was thinking of the other stuff I should get in the time being...Chain cleaner, Chain lube, wax polish, paddock stand (). Anything else??

                      • Ever since I got the V2, the only thing which troubled me was the formality done by yamaha in the name of seat cushion...pillions complained of butt pain within 10kms of sitting...I (rider) used to feel uncomfortable even after 50kms...Then one day I tried to get extra cushion fit in the seat and just as a trial did it with rear seat. The person stuck sponge on rear seat and then put on another cover over it...Pillion seat became quite comfortable so I tried with rider seat also and the result is amazing.. No pain in butts or the test'ies...Its very comfortable..
                        Total cost : 240Rs.
Attached are the pics post extra cushion..Though the pics don't display rider's seat properly, I cant help it as I'm not with my bike so cannot take proper pics personally.

Now only task at hand is to get something for pillions to hold..Though I have an idea in mind, I would like inputs from other members so that I can try something concrete...So please guys contribute with some ideas..

Much thanks for the parts list.
I noted the details and asked at the service center (Kottayam, Kerala).
They haven't done this on an R15 yet.
But, checked for the parts in Yamaha's official spares&parts list online and it is all there.
Asked me to come another day and meet the Spare Parts Head and ask about it.

Will it be possible for you to post a picture of where the center stand is hinged/attached to the main frame? (so that I can make it clear to the mechanics if they decline to do it because they 'don't know').

Mine is one of the WGP 50th Anniversay Editions. Ran in 460kms as of now.
Did an oil change at 190kms. Wanted to replace the filter too, but it was out of stuck (duh!).
                              --
I turn it on and it lights up gleefully, does the self-check and stands by for ignition.
A wide grin appears on the humble needle's face; it knows what's coming - a joyride to the redlines.

                                Yes, that is right.
The RHS faux-carbon fiber panel is the one to be taken off.
