But FYI the fuel pump costs about 5-6k and the throttle body costs a whopping 18k INR.
18k for the throttle body !! I think that would be the single most expensive piece of hardware on the bike.

I just had mine replaced today so trust me on this. This information comes directly from ktm.
Thank you for the information. So it is there with duke too huh? And how much did it cost you to replace?

Throttle body is to FI bike's what a carb is to..well carb'd bikes. The throttle body controls the amount of air entering the combustion chamber. the fuel injector spray fuel and the throttle body controls the air, eventually both work together to ensure the right ratio of air+fuel is pumped in as regulated by the ecu.

The throttle body is what delivers the air to the engine same as fuel injector delivers fuel. Its the round black intake manifold connected to the back of the bore. The fuel pump is what pressurizes the fuel and pumps it into the throttle body. I'll post a pic if i can find one.

Hi I've dropped my bike yesterday at the SVC and this time yes they've diagnosed . The trouble is with the fuel pump like you said. The water from the rain has leaked into the tank and reached the Pump causing the malfunction . Pump replaced total cost 3.9k incl labour charge. Here is the pic of the old pumpClick image for larger version

Why? Is your bike not under warranty?

If it is then water in the tank is a warranty issue not owner's fault.

Water inside the tank? So the quality of ktm is so poor??

Nopes. That can't be attributed to bad quality. If BMW S1000RR has water in the tank for some reason (poor water wash or not adequately protected under heavy rains), can we term it poor quality?
Yamaha R15 has got the speedo console frequently bugged by water entering durign water wash. Is it a poor quality bike - NO. It is by far one of the best built bikes in the country.
                            Regards,

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Hi Aakash..quality is a subjective thing. Some including me perceive issues mentioned by you as slip up in quality. It depends on person to person. So if somebody sees this as quality issue he is right from his point of view. Let us try not to suppress those views and instead force manufacturer to improve the standards.

Hi , I got water inside my fuel tank because the drain hole was clogged with dirt and I was not aware there was a drain hole, it will get clogged and you need to clean it regularly. AFAIK water won't enter through the fuel tank opening if it is closed. It is pretty sealed. I learned a lesson, do not open the fuel tank after a water wash or in case you drenched in rain.
