It's ok to start and switch off the bike in gear though I never do that . Avoid using the Kill switch and use the ignition key to completely switch on and off as Kill switch doesn't switch off the power from battery and other electricals . Let us know if you have any other questions .

Any suggestions
<40 Kmph in what gear ? Some vibrations are normal when you are stressing or lugging the engine . Avoid riding too slow in top gears as it's really bad for the engine . As yours is fairly a new bike, try to condition the RPM band for each gear and slowly you will notice super smoothness and less stressed ride no matter how hard you pull. Start by conditioning the 3/4 gear then 5/6 then 2/1 .

What's the status of your speedometer now ? I had the same problem during heavy rains once and it got replaced under warranty . Second time I had random display and malfunctioned speedometer for no reason and the reason was wires touching the sensors somewhere so after the service guys tied it up, everything was fine .

Keep an eye on Coolant level and any other leakage around oil filter area .

I use a straight steel rode which has just enough adequate length to lift the bike an inch off the ground . I place it to the right side and gently pull up the bike and let go once I am sure the rode is firm in position. I use Motul chain cleaner/chain lube ( C1/C2 ) every 500 to 600 KM .

How much is the life of chain sprocket on d200 ?
I am almost 16K and the service guys have said that Chain extension has reached the max so maybe another 3 - 4 K till the next service . 20 K I will get the chain Set sprocket replaced . From what I have heard 20 - 25 K is the life if maintained well in case of Dukes .

What's the condition of your tyres and how much do you think they will last ?

This is my first bike and I'm madly in love with it.

Just one week after the 1st service I decided to take my Duke on a long drive to Nashik.

It was approximately 220kms journey from Pune to my destination in Nashik.
The night before the journey I checked my bike and everything was normal as usual.

Also this was my first long drive and the first time that I crossed 90+ kmph on the Duke. ( I couldn't cross 5000rpm till the 1st service)
(I really enjoyed the experience of riding a bike on the highway).

After reaching Nashik, I again checked the bike and i noticed this leakage from the engine for the first time.

Is it normal??
What is the solution and how much will it cost??
It's not at all normal . Get it checked immediately . I had a leakage from Oil filter area because of a broken oil seal ( Oil ring - Costs 10 or something ) and this O-ring leakage is very common in new bikes . But get yours checked if it's from engine and fix should be free under warranty .

Even i give my bike at ktm svc in adyar and so far from my experience those guys are pretty good.. I've done three free services till now
And mine just crossed 5k km.. So it still has a long way to go..

I have seen the ktm svc use a feeler gauge to take measurements. Based on these measurements and the recommended clearance they arrive at the size of the shim to be used. It is almost impossible to get the correct shim value without using feeler gauge and doing the calculation. If your svc does not do it the right way, then ask them to or switch to another svc. It's a pretty simple calculation.

At a little over 15k km on my year old d200, I haven't had the clearances checked yet (I will when i hear too much of tappet noise) or maybe at the 20k km service. Sometimes its better to not fiddle with these things under regular maintenance/checkups unless you are facing specific issues.
Most bikes will easily do at least around 20k km before needing valve clearance adjustments.
I usually give my bike in the morning and take it back in the evening.. So i really don't know whether they use these specialised instruments or just guess work.. I'm a newbie in biking..
But usually i feel my bike to be much better after servicing..

just lube the chain & you can feel the "smooth" factor yourself @ home..

try to stay around the svc folks, max they will do is an engine oil & oil filter change.. takes about 5-10 minutes.. that's all..

unless you are like me changing the spark plug, fuel filter & air filter every 10K kms..

it's been 1 year, I'm thinking of draining & refilling the coolant..

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..

Two spins of your entire chain is enough with nozzle close to the chain . Refer the video below :

I have seen folks using the dukes on tracks and it performs fine.. I use my RC on tracks as well.. the Dukers have to lean more.. exaggerate their body position for knee dragging.. other than that, the duke is pretty good for tracks and you can do nice corners.. don't do that upside down and mod your bike/handlebars. it's not a track bike.. forget converting it into one..

Tucking in on straights, it's pointless as you don't have a windshield..

removing rev limiter - use aftermarket ECU.. but it's not recommended.. why would you want that unless you want to squeeze out 1.5 bhp out of the engine at the cost of it's long life....

the R15 is a track focused bike but with a more relaxed stance.. not aggressive like the RC..

the purpose of Duke - streets/commuting.. touring to an extent if you have a windshield.. not tracks..

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..

Hey guys, I have a d200 and clocked 5k kms on the odo.
I have been carrying out a few mods on my bike. Like bridging the gap between the tyre hugger and the mudflap near the rear shock. Also I have done a mod for the windshield. The Duke 200 is a fluidic to handle in city but on the highways, I find it restless and not so relaxed when doing above 100 so I am thinking of changing the rear sprocket to 40t. The problem now is that the rear sprocket has 6 mount points unlike the pre 2014 models which had 4 mounting points. Leaving all that aside.. Has anyone done sprocketing on the duke? Under gearing or over geared the bike?

Hello,

Recently I have noticed that my bike's acceleration is kind of slow and the engine doesn't feel that 'open' . It feels like as If I am riding a bike with punctured tyres although tyres are fine .

What could be the possible reasons ? One I am suspecting is the sudden arrival of winters in Delhi and the cold temperature does that ? ODO reading is ~ 16 K .

Thanks

Hi, guys i am getting a feeling that my duke's handle is kind of loose under heavy breaking and while leaning. Now, i have changed the front tyre and cone-set but still get the same feeling. I have tried my friend's duke 390 and it feels rock solid in comparison
I don't know what else could be the problem. Is there something else i can change in the handle that would make any difference. Btw my bike has done 24k kms and is 3 year old.
thanks

Update : okay so in my previous post I had complained about lack of power feeling in my duke 200. Now I am going to tell in detail what it feels like .

Throttle transition is so jerky I mean if I whack open the throttle bike goes powerless for a second ( jerky ) and then all the horses gets unleased . The whole RPM band is uneven . Bike feels so so tight now I mean engine breaking is like actual breaking and throttle is not at all smooth so uneven . What could be the reason ? Something related to valves ? Bike is 16 K ODO .

When I let go off throttle to change gear bike feels like it's under super heavy breaking . Sound is not focused like it used to be it's very shrill and distorted loud and mechanical. I hope you got what I am trying to say . Service is due next month but I want to know what could be the reason or if anyone has face similar issue .

Thanks
