Its a pleasure to be part of this forum & this thread! Am from Coimbatore, TN. I just got my new NS 200 a week ago (09, Nov, 2018) after read ownership reviews from this forum. The reason for my choice was I damn liked this muscular design & I wanted to experience a 200 CC power and performance as I already have a Pulsar 150 (2004 model). I appreciate all the participants & the forum admin for providing a big help & awareness for other riders like me. I just wanted to share my experience and to have cleared some of my queries!

      Initial experience

The delivery was fine from JaiKrishna showroom located here in Saibaba colony as I could get my hands on the vehicle within 4 hrs after making payment. I tried for MRF stock tires but there were none in their lot & they also told me that they got my bike out of their fresh recent lot on that day. So I took the vehicle by evening as they said they can only do the RTO formalities by next week (14 Nov 2018).

Initially the riding experience & handling were bit new as I had to adopt myself from my Pulsar 150 handling but I could get used to after few KMs. The bike felt very solid on the road even in the stock tires but as I read many posts about those ZEROGRIP stock tires I planned to replace them in a few days. I really felt happier about my choice as I really went mostly for the design part as I didn't even have a Test drive. But the performance & handling on corners - Oh My GOD! it was like its just doing an auto pilot job as I didn't have to handle it much despite the weight of the bike. The engine felt very smooth & refined! It was superb! I have just clocked around 200 Kms only so far & Oh Man its really really very hard to resist reviving this bike untill the break in period! I really feel complicated to ride it under 45 KM/h with 6 gears. so am just using 4 gears only for now.

When the RTO formalities completed & I went to the service center to top up the coolant as it was just only above the min level when delivered. They did it fine without any charges. On that day I went to my familiar tyre shop here about consulting on replacing the same. My choices were ContiGo , Michellin & CEAT(as I had good experience with my old pulsar 150). The guy told me now a days all Michelin tyres are made from TVS at madurai plant except the radial ones. Anyhow their radial thing is out of my budget as they quoted around 8k for both front, rear & the rear radial is not available for stock size. ContiGO - they too didn't have the stock size for rear! But i really don't know whether I was too concerned about up-sizing tires. So finally they showed me CEAT ZOOM XL for rear 130/70 17 & CEAT Zoom Plus F 100/80 17. They quoted around 4500 Rs + 200 Rs labor. At my surprise he offered me 2k on exchange of my stock tires ZEROGRIP as many of the tire dealers here said no before that. So I finally went on with it of paying remaining 2700 Rs.

I feel the difference in handling & grip better than the stock ones as when I was riding with them when we do cornering or ZIG ZAG it was like I almost felt on the road. But now when I do the same I could feel the tires holding me there & kind of flexible, planted on the road. Braking felt good! Anyhow am waiting for the 1st service & 2k ODO get completed to go on a long trip!

      So my queries are

      1. when I talked with the ASC guy regarding engine oil he said now they use full synthetic oil Bajaj DTSi 10000. I really talked him out of it about using Motul 7100 after 2k ODO but he simply said I should concur the warranty policies( I got 5 Years of warranty) so entitle the same. so I should only use that bajaj oil for the 5 Years or 75000 Kms to avail the warranty. so guys please help me out what can I do now? is that bajaj oil really bad to the engine?
      2. Another thing i noted is when starting the bike, the IDLE RPM stays at 1.5k but after a while riding it comes to 2k - 2.5k. is it normal before the 1st service?
      3. Please shed some thought or point me to the thread on breaking in guidelines for ns 200 as I really don't know how to concur what their manual says - it mentioned to ride within 45 Km/h at 6th gear.
      4. And when I ride in a closed roads on both sides I could hear the chain railing sound - is it normal?
      5. When they fitted the tires they didn't add any tubeless liquid - should I add any?

Thank you! looking forward to your help...

Congratulations bro, it's a lovely bike. The was going for it myself 2 weeks ago then settled with P220. Although I'm no expert on this, but I'll try to give my suggestions based on your queries.

        1) Regarding oil, I'm sure you don't wanna play with the warranty, so my suggestion is for you to keep getting service and oil as per Bajaj ASC. But 500-1000 kms after each service, you can flush the oil and refill with your choice of oil. Though this is an expensive proposition but it makes up for it as you'll be happy so will be the validity of your warranty.

        2) Regarding the idling rpm, I'd 1400 is recommended in NS200 owner manual. Mind you that's the idling rpm that should be in hot condition (after 30-40 minutes of running the bike). So, travel for 30-40 minutes and then at the end of the trip, set the idling rpm at 1400.

        3) Run-in is a controversial topic. I'd suggest you keep your bike under half the total rpm you see on your tachometer. Or, just ride on the highway and in 6th gear, push the bike gradually, 3k to 4k to 5k to 6k and so on. You'll notice at a particular rpm, the vibes will start to be more prominent. That's the limit you need, keep running your bike vibe-free for now.

        4) Chain issues - check it for slackness, better yet get it checked by your mechanic, hell set it just right. FYIP, I just got my P220 1st serviced on Monday and the Bajaj Service Centre guys had seriously over tightened the chain. It was so tight the wheel was jammed and barely moving & the alignment was all wrong. My trusted old mechanic came to my rescue.

        5) That's an accessory, for you to add and it's useful. I would also like to know about that, to add to my tyres. Fort F9, from YouTube, recommended using not the green slime but the other Tyre sealants, which are semi solid and more viscous. Those are better and faster at sealing punctures.

        Cheers.

Thanks for your valuable time on replying my queries! Sure, I will keep your points in mind & follow them.

Should I change it to full synthetic after 1st service or after 2k ODO?

Yesterday I got sometime so went on for a short trip of 40 kms at a stretch with riding at normal speed below 50 km/h. Tried to keep the RPM under 4k. Trip was good & there was a situation I had to brake suddenly at 50 km speed as a car in front of me just took U turn on the road without any indications. Nothing bad happened as I could stop the bike before few feets without skidding or anything. It was very quick & I felt confident about the CEAT tyres but have to test it on high speeds after 2k ODO I hope.

I can feel the engine is getting as smoother as the ODO runs in.

Thanks again for your help, Bro! [emoji106]

Is there any issue with swing arm bolt?
To address your concern i need to know few things. Ns Chain does not have chain lock. When you replace the chain sprocket set the whole swing arm is removed and then the chain and sprockets are replaced(xbhp members please correct me if i am wrong). This is the case when you do it from an bajaj Service centre. But if you do replace your chain sprocket from outside then the mechanic will cut the chain/modify it to add a chain lock. This was the procedure which i had done while changing the sprocket from outside. But after that i faced the same issue mentioned by you.Another mechanic narrowed down it to the chain lock which the previous one had installed he replaced it with the pulsar 220 chain lock and post that i never faced the issue .

If you have followed the first procedure (getting it replaced from Bajaj Service centre by not cutting or modifying the chain) then Check the swing arm for any bends or check the rear wheel bearings ,also check the chain links it could be a bad chain link or seized one ,if not then check by removing the chain from the rear wheel and re-mount the wheel in the swing arm. keep the bike on centre stand, spin the wheel as fast as you can by hand and watch the rear sprocket Is it centred perfectly or does it wobble front to back? Also take the chain off the front sprocket and put the bike in gear without the chain and spin the front sprocket quickly by running the bike in 1st gear. Is the front sprocket perfectly centred or does it wobble,if yes then the problem could be with the sprocket housing/bearings get then replaced.

Always keep you chain clean and well lubricated ,clean it properly with kerosene or petrol/diesel the lube it with a good chain lube. Kindly let me know the changes post this will try to help you as much as i can .

By design, if the rubber oil seal breaks, coolant will mix with oil in 200 NS. There is no drain hole provided to restrict coolant mixing with oil in case the seal breaks.
So, rather than calling it an issue I would add it to the maintenance list. Maybe, we can call it as preventive maintenance and replace the oil seal every 40000 to 50000 km interval. The oil seal in my bike gave up at around 65000 kms on the odo and it's a simple process to replace the oil seal.

That's quite an apt approach, preventive maintenance. I'd suggest riders to somehow obtain a service manual for your ride and follow the practices mentioned religiously. Also, add feedback from ownership thread to the practice.

Thanku but the problem has become worse so i got them replaced in showroom. Now it's okay. The problem that i got was due to bad chain quality. From now on im only going to replace my chain & sprockets from showroom itself.
I usually clean my chain with kerosene & lub with motul chain lub spray. I do it every Sunday

For the 1000kms i been using motul 7100 fully synthetic oil. Man that descion of putting motul oil instead of Bajaj s oil was my best move. The engine feels buttery smooth, gear shift are also smooth. Engine heating also reduced to some bit. When ever i went for my weekend ride after some 80-100km ride the engine always felt like it was tired and has some vibs. But after this motul oil my weekend rides are superb, even after a 100km non stop ride the engine still retains its initial energy pase. From now on im going to stick with motul oil.

Hello to all the NS owners.
                                My first post!
I am a soon to be NS owner. Will be getting the bike during the first week of December.
Yesterday i rode my friend's 2017 NS and it was awesome. Except when the bike was at 3k RPM and i opened the throttle fully there was 'lag' for a second.
Kinda like how it is when there is no petrol in the bike. Bike is due for service in few days and it should be fixed.
When the RPM reaches 8k..! Crazy. The bike just pulls! It was a surprise to me but it felt great.
I am 5.5 ft tall and weigh 58 Kgs. The bike does not feel heavy. This was a surprise.
Turning radius is a bit small and a little difficult for tight U-turns, i feel.

A great bike. Thank god for Bajaj! Duke 200 was out of my budget.
By the way, there is a INR 20,000 difference in ABS & no-ABS version. Asked for a test ride of the ABS version at Kalyani Bajaj, Mekhri circle, Bangalore.
They said they did not have the ABS version.
Also asked them to ensure that i get MRF tyres but they said it depends on what is available at my time of buying and they cannot ensure i get MRF.
Currently confused about the colors. Red or white? haha

I have read a lot of pages and have noted tips and tricks on how to maintain, when to service, etc..
Thank you all for sharing your experiences.
